Comparison of Electroacupuncture and Mild-Warm Moxibustion on Brain-Gut Function in Patients with Constipation-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective： To compare the effects of electroacupuncture （EA） and mild-warm moxibustion （Mox） therapies for constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome （C-IBS） patients. Methods： Sixty C-IBS patients were assigned to 2 groups by simple randomized method, i.e. EA group （30 cases） and Mox group （30 cases）. Both EA and Mox treatments were performed on bilateral Tianshu （ST 25） and Shangjuxu （ST 37） for 30 min each time, 6 times per week, for 4 consecutive weeks. The gastrointestinal symptoms and psychological symptoms of the two groups were scored before and after treatment. The effects on the corresponding functional brain areas, namely the anterior cingulate cortex （ACC）, insular cortex （IC） and prefrontal cortex （PFC） were observed by functional magnetic resonance imaging （fMRI） before and after treatment. Results： Compared with the Mox group, greater improvements in abdominal distension, defecation frequency, difficulty in defecation and stool features were observed in the EA group （all P〈0.01）, both Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores were significantly decreased in the EA group （all P〈0.01）. Finally, decreased activated voxel values were observed in the ACC, right IC and PFC brain regions of EA group with 150 mL colorectal distension stimulation （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. Conclusions： Both EA and Mox could significantly improve some of the most intrusive symptoms of C-IBS patients, and EA was more effective than Mox. The therapeutic effect of these two therapies might through modulating of the brain-gut axis function. （Registration No. ChiCTR- TRC-11001349）.

In clinical practice,early pregnancy loss has afflicted approximately 15%–25%women of reproductive age worldwide,which is partially attributed to defects associated with the endometrium.During pregnancy,the endometrial stromal cells experience remarkable tissue remodeling and transformation,termed as decidualization,to support embryonic development,placental formation,and the maintenance of normal pregnancy in both mice and human.During this process,a series of dynamic developmental events,including rapid stromal proliferation,increased stromal cell size,enhanced angiogenesis,taken place in a highly-ordered manner under the precise regulation of steroid hormones.Meanwhile,diverse molecules exhibit spatiotemporal-specific expression pattern,implying their unique roles in decidual development.To achieve a more comprehensive understanding of these biological events and explore the underlying causes of early pregnancy disorders,this review emphasizes on the detailed developmental progression of decidual transformation and patterning as well as related pregnancy complications at the early stage of pregnancy.

EDTA-enhanced phytoremediation of lead contaminated soil by Bidens maximowicziana

Phytoremediation is a potential cleanup technology for the removal of heavy metals from contaminated soils. Bidens is a new Pb hyperaccumulator, which not only has remarkable tolerance to Pb but also extraordinary accumulation capacity for Pb. The maximum Pb concentration was 1509.3 mg/kg in roots and 2164.7 mg/kg in overground tissues. The Pb distribution order in the B. was： leaf 〉 stem 〉 root. The effect of amendments on phytoremediation was also studied. The mobility of soil Pb and the Pb concentrations in plants were both increased by EDTA application. Compared with CK （control check）, EDTA application promoted translocation of Pb to overground parts of the plant. The Pb concentrations in overground parts of plants was increased from 24.23-680.56 mg/kg to 29.07-1905.57 mg/kg. This research demonstrated that B. maximowicziana appeared to be suitable for phytoremediation of Pb contaminated soil, especially, combination with EDTA.

Nano polystyrene microplastics could accumulate in Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus):Negatively impacts on the intestinal and liver health through water exposure

Microplastics(MPs)have become a significant concern for their potential toxicity.However,the correlation between the size of plastic particles and their toxicity remains inconclusive.Here,we investigate the toxic effects of different sizes(80 nm,800 nm,8μm and 80μm)polystyrene MPs(PS-MPs)on the model organism Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus).The results of bioluminescent imaging indicate that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to invade the body.H&E staining shows severe damage on the intestinal villi and distinct hepatic steatosis in the 80 nm group.Ed U labeling shows that the proliferation activity of intestinal and liver cells reduces significantly in the 80 nm group.The gut microbiome analysis shows a severe imbalance of gut microbiota homeostasis in the 80 nm group.The analysis of liver transcriptomics and metabolomics shows that the liver lipid metabolism is disordered in the 80 nm group.In conclusion,this study confirms that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to induce intestinal and liver toxicity.All the above lay the foundation for further study on the pathological damage of MPs to other organisms.

Nuclear charge radius predictions by kernel ridge regression with odd-even effects

The extended kernel ridge regression(EKRR)method with odd-even effects was adopted to improve the description of the nuclear charge radius using five commonly used nuclear models.These are:(i)the isospin-dependent A^(1∕3) formula,(ii)relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov(RCHB)theory,(iii)Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov(HFB)model HFB25,(iv)the Weizsacker-Skyrme(WS)model WS*,and(v)HFB25*model.In the last two models,the charge radii were calculated using a five-parameter formula with the nuclear shell corrections and deformations obtained from the WS and HFB25 models,respectively.For each model,the resultant root-mean-square deviation for the 1014 nuclei with proton number Z≥8 can be significantly reduced to 0.009-0.013 fm after considering the modification with the EKRR method.The best among them was the RCHB model,with a root-mean-square deviation of 0.0092 fm.The extrapolation abilities of the KRR and EKRR methods for the neutron-rich region were examined,and it was found that after considering the odd-even effects,the extrapolation power was improved compared with that of the original KRR method.The strong odd-even staggering of nuclear charge radii of Ca and Cu isotopes and the abrupt kinks across the neutron N=126 and 82 shell closures were also calculated and could be reproduced quite well by calculations using the EKRR method.

【目的】观察方氏头针联合择时耳穴贴压治疗维持性血液透析失眠患者的临床疗效。【方法】将70例维持性血液透析失眠患者随机分为观察组和对照组,每组各35例。2组均给予常规治疗,对照组在常规治疗的基础上给予艾司唑仑片口服,观察组给予方氏头针联合择时耳穴贴压治疗,共治疗4周。治疗1个月后,评价2组临床疗效,观察2组患者治疗前后匹兹堡睡眠质量指数量表(PSQI)评分与肾脏疾病生活质量简表(KDQOL-SF)评分的变化情况,以及汉密尔顿抑郁量表(HAMD)和汉密尔顿焦虑量表(HAMA)评分的情况。比较2组患者治疗前后血红蛋白(Hb)、血肌酐(Scr)、血尿素氮(BUN)水平的变化情况。并评价2组的安全性。【结果】(1)治疗后,2组患者的PSQI、KDQOL-SF评分均明显改善(P0.05)。【结论】方氏头针联合择时耳穴贴压治疗维持性血液透析失眠,能够有效改善患者的睡眠质量,缓解焦虑抑郁情绪,从而提高患者的生活质量,疗效显著。

Severe liver injury and clinical characteristics of occupational exposure to 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide: A case series

Background:The 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide is a key intermediate in the synthesis of pesticides and pharmaceuticals.However,no literature currently exists on 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide poisoning in humans.This study aimed to reveal the health hazard of this chemical for humans and summarize the clinical characteristics of patients with occupational 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide poisoning.Methods:This observational study included four patients with 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide poisoning from June 2022 to July 2022.The entire course of the incidents was described in detail.Blood 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide concentrations were detected by a mass spectrometer.Hema-toxylin and eosin staining was performed to assess liver injury,and immunofluorescence was used to evaluate hepatic mitophagy.Results:The 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide powder(99%purity)entered the human body mainly via the skin and respiratory tract due to poor personal protective measures.The typical course of 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide poisoning was divided into latency,rash,fever,organic dam-age,and recovery phases in accordance with the clinical evolution.Rash and fever may be the important premonitory symptoms for further organ injuries.The chemical was detected in the blood of all patients and caused multiple organ injuries,predominantly liver injury,including kidney,myocardium,and micro-circulation.Three patients recovered smoothly after comprehensive treatments,including artificial liver therapy,continuous renal replacement therapy,glucocorticoids,and other symptomatic and supportive treatments.One patient survived by liver transplantation.The postoperative pathological findings of the removed liver showed acute liver failure,and immunofluorescence staining confirmed the abundance of mitophagy in residual hepatocytes.Conclusions:This study is the first to elaborate the clinical characteristics of patients with 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide poisoning.The chemical enter

Active flutter suppression of nonlinear fin-actuator system via inverse system and immersion and invariance method

Structural nonlinearities such as freeplay will affect the stability and even flight safety of the fin-actuator system.There is a lack of a practical method for designing Active Flutter Suppression (AFS) control laws for nonlinear fin-actuator systems.A design method for the AFS controller of the nonlinear all-movable fin-electromechanical actuator system is established by combining the inverse system and the Immersion and Invariance (I&I) theory.First,the composite control law combining the inverse system principle and internal model control is used to offset the nonlinearity and dynamics of the actuator,so that its driving torque can follow the ideal signal.Then,the ideal torque of the actuator is designed employing the I&I theory.The unfavorable oscillation of the fin is suppressed by making the output torque of the actuator track the ideal signal.The simulation results reveal that the proposed AFS method can increase the flutter speed of the nonlinear finactuator system with freeplay,and a set of controller parameters is also applicable for wider freeplay within a certain range.The power required for the actuator does not exceed the power that can be provided by the commonly used aviation actuator.This method can also resist a certain level of noise and external disturbance.

Electrochemical anodic oxidation assisted fabrication of memristors

Owing to the advantages of simple structure,low power consumption and high-density integration,memristors or memristive devices are attracting increasing attention in the fields such as next generation non-volatile memories,neuromorphic computation and data encryption.However,the deposition of memristive films often requires expensive equipment,strict vacuum conditions,high energy consumption,and extended processing times.In contrast,electrochemical anodizing can produce metal oxide films quickly(e.g.10 s) under ambient conditions.By means of the anodizing technique,oxide films,oxide nanotubes,nanowires and nanodots can be fabricated to prepare memristors.Oxide film thickness,nanostructures,defect concentrations,etc,can be varied to regulate device performances by adjusting oxidation parameters such as voltage,current and time.Thus memristors fabricated by the anodic oxidation technique can achieve high device consistency,low variation,and ultrahigh yield rate.This article provides a comprehensive review of the research progress in the field of anodic oxidation assisted fabrication of memristors.Firstly,the principle of anodic oxidation is introduced;then,different types of memristors produced by anodic oxidation and their applications are presented;finally,features and challenges of anodic oxidation for memristor production are elaborated.
