Evolution of siderian juvenile crust to Rhyacian high Ba-sr magmatism in the Mineiro Belt, southern s?o Francisco Craton

Plutonic rocks from the Mineiro Belt, Brazil record a delayed onset of the transition from TTG to sanukitoid-type magmatism（high Ba-sr）, starting during the siderian magmatic lull when little juvenile magma was added to the continental crust. Rocks mostly belong to the calc-alkaline series, meta-to peraluminous and originally ＂Ⅰ-type＂,meaning that oxidized magmas were formed by partial melting of subducted material. The temporal distribution and apparent secular changes of the magmas are consistent with the onset of subduction-driven plate tectonics due to an increase of the subduction angle and opening of the mantle wedge. New isotopic analyses（sm-Nd whole rock and lu-Hf in zircon）corroborate the restricted juvenile nature of the Mineiro Belt and confirm the genetic link between the Lagoa Dourada suite,a rare ca. 2350 Ma high-Al tonalite-trondhjemite magmatic event, and the sanukitoid-type ca. 2130 Ma Alto Maranhao suite. U-Pb dating of zircon and titanite constrain the crystallisation history of plutonic bodies; coupled with major and trace element analyses of the host rocks, they distinguish evolutionary trends in the Mineiro Belt. several plutons in the region have ages close to 2130 Ma but are distinguished by the lower concentration of compatible elements in the juvenile high Ba-sr suite.

Differential expression of apoptosis related proteins and nitric oxide synthases in Epstein Barr associated gastric carcinomas

AIM： To determine the incidence of Epstein Barr virus associated gastric carcinoma （GC） in Brazil and compare the expressions of apoptosis related proteins and nitric oxide synthases between EBV positive and negative gastric carcinoma. METHODs： In situ hybridization of EBV-encoded small RNA-1 （EBER-1） and PCR was performed to identify the presence of EBV in GCs. Immunohistochemistry was used to identify expressions of bcl-2, bcl-xl, bak, bax, p53, NOs-1, NOs-2, and NOs-3 proteins in 25 EBV positive GCs and in 103 EBV negative GCs. REsULTs： 12% of the cases of GC （25/208） showed EBER-1 and EBNA-1 expression. The cases were preferentially of diffuse type with intense lymphoid infiltrate in the stroma. EBV associated GCs showed higher expression of bcl-2 protein and lower expression of bak protein than in EBV negative GCs. Indeed, expressions of NOs-1 and NOs-3 were frequently observed in EBV associated GCs. CONClusION： Our data suggest that EBV infection may protect tumor cells from apoptosis, giving them the capacity for permanent cell cycling and proliferation. In addition, EBV positive GCs show high expression of constitutive NOs that could influence tumor progression and aggressiveness.

spatial Distribution of Internal Temperatures in a LGR （Light Green Roof） for Brazilian Tropical Weather

This article aims to assess the spatial distribution of the IsT （internal surface temperatures） in the ceiling and DBT （dry bulb temperatures） of a LGR （light green roof） in a test cell. Cover systems known as green roofs have the potential to retain rainwater and help reduce runoff. However, the characteristic considered in this work is the insulation capacity of this kind of coverage. To evaluate the spatial distribution of temperatures in an environment with light green roof, we proposed a new method for acquisition of series of climatological data and temperatures according to spatial and temporal approaches of dynamic climatology. Climatological data were provided by an automatic weather station and temperatures were collected in a test cell with light green roof. The spatial distribution of surface temperatures and internal air temperature （DBT） are based on the concepts of a climatic episode and typical experimental day from the study of the dynamic climatology. The results led to the conclusion that the light green roof has a balanced spatial distribution of the IsT and of the internal air temperature （DBT）, i.e., without substantial variations over the day. The new methodology also showed the importance of specifying the location of the sensors and automatic weather station in experimental studies on the thermal behaviour of buildings.

Influence of Global solar Radiation on Indoor Environment： Experimental study of Internal Temperature Distribution in Two Test Cells with Different Roof systems

This work is part of a large experimental study on the distribution of internal temperatures in two similar test cells, but with different systems of coverage. The main goal of this paper is to present results on an experimental field to determine the influence of solar radiation on the internal environmental conditions of different roof systems. Dry bulb temperature and internal surface temperatures were measured in two test cells with different roof systems （green roof and conventional ceramic roof）. Their thermal performances were compared on days with differing air mass domain, based on dynamic climatic approach. This research was based on the spatial and temporal approaches of dynamic climatology, from the climatic regime of the city of Itirapina, s^o Paulo state, analysed as representative episodes. Climatic data were provided by an automatic weather station and verified by satellite imagery, and the internal temperatures of the cells were collected by thermocouples installed on the surfaces of ceilings, floors, walls, and suspended inside the buildings. The results indicate that the solar radiation is mainly responsible for the great variations in temperature and its impact on indoor environments, since there were great differences in temperature inside comparing the two days of the experiment. This refutes the notion that the outside temperature is responsible for daily variations in temperature inside buildings.

Brazil’s continental dimensions bring huge challenges for the Federal Administration,particularly in relation to low income *** this sense,in 2009,Federal Government has launched a huge habitational program entitled“Minha Casa Minha Vida”(in English MHMLP-the“My House,My Life”Program)which has been,so far,the biggest social housing Federal program,and has produced millions of sIH(social interest housing)*** program was discontinued in *** the program has been huge,there were few units built in urban centers,increasing the urban *** feasibility of sIH enterprises in the context of the MHMLP leads to the production towards the outskirts,where the land cost better fits the *** cost analysis,however,does not take into consideration future costs of an inefficient infrastructure,poor social services and public safety issues,with impact on the cities’operational *** paper compares the total building cost of sIH in peripheral and central areas,emphasizing the benefits of production in central areas when considering indirect operational and infrastructure *** research takes into account the infrastructure already available in central areas and the opportunity of appropriate abandoned or underutilized buildings and urban empty *** this sense,a case study has been conducted in two projects in the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro(RJ)comparing the estimated budget of sIH built far from urban centers,to the probable budget occupying underutilized *** indicate the necessity to review the parameters adopted when discussing the production of low income housing considering the cities’development as an integrated system.

The consumption of marine macroalgae has been linked with health benefits,albeit some actions,including genoprotection,remain ***,we evaluated the genoprotective potential of a mixture of Ulva rigida,Fucus vesiculosus and Gracilaria gracilis,through direct consumption or via indirect intake using fish(sparus aurata)as a vector of algal ***(Mus musculus)were subjected to a 1-month dietary supplementation with 5%of macroalgae mix or 10%of fillet of fish previously fed with an algae-supplemented aquafeed(for comparison purposes,10%supplementation with fillet of fish standardly fed was also considered).Thereafter,mice were challenged by the genotoxicant methyl methanesulfonate(MMs),and the genetic damage was evaluated through the micronuclei ***,a wider evaluation was carried out encompassing the assessment of energy metabolism,haematological and histological parameters,as well as growth *** unequivocally protected against MMs-induced *** activity profile of hepatic lactate and isocitrate dehydrogenases promoted by the supplemented diets reflected an improved energy *** properties were not transferred via fish fed with the algae-supplemented aquafeed,though the transference of phytocomponents with beneficial properties(*** balance improvement)should not be ***,these findings highlighted the genoprotection afforded by marine macroalgae,likely promoted by desmutagenic factors,reinforcing their definition as functional *** possibility of using fish as an indirect source of algae-borne phytocomponents proved to be plausible and worthy of further investigations.

Parenthood in Childbirth: Reports by Mothers and Fathers

Nowadays childbirth care in Brazil is mainly guided by the technocratic model, with a high rate of unnecessary interventions that may cause iatrogenesis. Emotional aspects inherent to birth tend to be disregarded in this scenario, which produces risks for the psychological health of the mother, father, and baby. The aim of this study was to look into the subjective experiences of fathers and mothers regarding childbirth in contemporary Brazil. For this purpose, a collective case study was carried out in which 30 birth reports published on personal blogs were analyzed, 15 written by women and 15 by men. The results pointed to the helplessness experienced by fathers and mothers in the face of technocratic care which may sometimes be violent, and to the idealization of health care professionals who work according to the humanized paradigm. The choice of the mode of delivery often appeared in the subjects’ discourse, denoting a scenario in which caesarean section is understood as a consumer good. Respect for the temporality of childbirth was considered essential to ensure that giving birth is not experienced in a traumatic way, and pain was reported as a central element to elaborate the symbolic death intrinsic to the process of parenthood appropriation. The lack of support from the environment seems to be a constitutive factor in the experience of obstetric violence and the writing of birth reports a resource to reinterpret this traumatic experience. We came to the conclusion that it is extremely important that the professional team be trained to understand the emotional aspects present in the childbirth experience, with interdisciplinary exchanges being a powerful resource to provide good quality of care for the parental couple.

Methodology for Definition of the Three-Dimensional Geodesic structures in the Olinda＇s Historical site

It is shown to be a relevant study involving terrestrial methods of measurement, such as： forward and backward intersections, geometric leveling, trigonometric leveling with short distance targeted and spatial positioning GNss methods, for the definition of field reference points and field-object points located in rough terrain. The geodesic structures were implemented in the Historic site of Olinda employing GNss （global navigation satellite system） receivers, total stations and digital level. The historical site of Olinda was recorded by UNEsCO as Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The study area is located in the center of the busiest site with a quite roughly relief. This area has been studied since 2007 involving Research of scientific Initiation and Pos-Graduation Course. This paper aims to present the realized experiments for the implementation and definition of geodesic structures in environments with very rough relief, including large old houses and historic monuments.

Glycine supplementation reduces the severity of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in hamsters

Objective: Oral mucositis (OM) is a devastating toxicity associated with cytotoxic cancer therapy. The OM pathogenesis and the complex interactions occur in response to tissue insult. Application of this evolving model has aided in the development of mechanistically based therapies for the prevention and treatment of mucositis. The present study was to assess the effects of glycine supplementation on chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis. Methods: In a hamster cheek pouch model of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis, one group of 20 animals received systemic glycine supplementation for 7 days, while another similar control group did not. Clinical mucositis severity and neutrophil infiltrate (on histology) were assessed by blinded examiners. Free radical production was measured as malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Results: As compared to control animals, glycine-treated animals demonstrated a highly significant reduction in clinical severity of oral mucositis, neutrophil infiltrate, and MDA levels (p lusions: Glycine supplementation reduces the severity of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in an animal model. This effect is at least partly mediated through inhibition of the inflammatory response and reduced production of damaging free radicals.
