Clinical Application and Exploration on Steps Progressively Corrections and Gradual Shortening Combined with Total Spinal Osteotomy for Angular Kyphosis—Basic Research and Clinical Application

Introduction: This study is designed to explore the biomechanical principles of posterior bilateral pedicle screw on steps progressively and tight closure on every step for severe angular kyphosis and the indication conditions and clinical pathways of above new technique. materials and Methods: A total of 90 patients have severe angular kyphosis, 37 males and 53 females, with an average age of 47 years. All patients were treated with posterior bilateral pedicle screw and step tight closure for gradual shortening and orthopedic technology. Results: Average intraoperative blood loss was 2089 ml. Average operation time was 326 minutes. Kyphotic angle changed from 90.1° averagely preoperatively to 41.6° averagely postoperatively with an improvement rate of 65%. The distance from C7 plumb line to posterior upper edge of the S1 vertebral body was averagely 5.2 mm postoperatively, with a correction rate of 73%. Neurological complications occurred in 2 cases, accounting for 6%. Non-neurological complications occurred in 2 cases, accounting for 6%. Anatomical parameters were significantly improved postoperatively (P lusions: The orthopedic technology of bilateral pedicle screw and step tight closure designed by human physiology and biomechanical principles can protect spinal cord cells from injury to the utmost. To choose an appropriate osteotomy plane during pre-surgical planning can make the repair results closer to the normal function of the spine. Intraoperative nerve root protection, full release and bone graft fusion are effective safeguards to ensure kyphosis correction and to avoid spine lateral offset.

Expression of a Carrot Antifreeze Protein Gene in Escherichia coli

The recombinant expression vector pET43.1b-AFP, which contains full encoding region of a carrot 36 kD antifreeze protein (AFP) gene was constructed. The recombinant was transformed into expression host carrying T7 RNA polymerase gene (DE3 lysogen) and induced by 1 mmol稬-1 IPTG (isopropyl--D-thiogalactoside) to express 110 kD polypeptide of AFP fusion protein. The analysis of product solubility revealed that pET43.1b-AFP was predominately soluble, and the expressed amount reached the maximum after the IPTG treatment for 3 h.

In this study,we synthesized a core-shell structure of up-conversion nanoparticles(UCNPs)and deposited it on the surface of fluorine-doped tin oxide(FTO).Subsequently,we assembled a series of perovskite solar cells with FTO/UCNPs/c-TiO_(2)/mp-TiO_(2)/maPbI3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au structures with an effective area of 0.04 cm^(2).To optimize the devices,we adjusted the concentration of UCNPs *** optimized device showed a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 16.73%and a short-circuit current density(Jsc)of 26.94 ma/cm^(2) at AM *** values are 9.20%and 10.47%higher than those of the best performing control device(15.32%for PCE and 24.12 ma/cm^(2) for Jsc),***,we characterized the perovskite layer,charge transport layer,and perovskite solar cells using various analytical *** results showed that the addition of UCNPs not only improved the charge extraction and transfer,but also enhanced the stability of electron transport layer *** conclusion,our findings offer a process for optimizing perovskite cells using UCNPs and preliminarily analyzing their principles.

Electroacupuncture in Treatment of Acute Gastrointestinal Injury in Patients with Severe Traumatic Brain Injury:A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: To evaluate whether electroacupuncture(EA) would improve gastrointestinal function and clinical prognosis in patients with severe traumatic brain injury(TBI) complicocted by acute gastrointestinal injury(AGI). Methods: This multicenter, single-blind trial included patients with TBI and AGI admitted to 5Chinese hospitals from September 2018 to December 2019. A total of 500 patients were randomized to the control or acupuncture groups using a random number table, 250 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received conventional treatment, including mannitol, nutritional support, epilepsy and infection prevention, and maintenance of water, electrolytes, and acid-base balance. While patients in the acupuncture group received EA intervention at bilateral Zusanli(ST 36), Shangjuxu(ST 37), Xiajuxu(ST 39), Tianshu(ST 25), and Zhongwan(RN 12) acupoints in addition to the conventional treatment, 30 min per time, twice daily,for 7 d. The primary endpoint was 28-d mortality. The secondary endpoints were serum levels of D-lactic acid(D-lac), diamine oxidase(DAO), lipopolysaccharide(LPS), motilin(MTL) and gastrin(GAS), intra-abdominal pressure(IAP), bowel sounds, abdominal circumference, AGI grade, scores of gastrointestinal failure(GIF),Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS), Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE Ⅱ), Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA), and Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome(MODS), mechanical ventilation time,intense care unit(ICU) stay, and the incidence of hospital-acquired pneumonia. Results: The 28-d mortality in the acupuncture group was lower than that in the control group(22.80% vs. 33.20%, P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the acupuncture group at 7 d showed lower GIF, APACHE Ⅱ, SOFA, MODS scores, D-lac,DAO, LPS, IAP, and abdominal circumference and higher GCS score, MTL, GAS, and bowel sound frequency(all P<0.05). Hierarchical growth of a novel Mn-Bi coupled BiVO4 arrays for enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting

Oxygen evolving catalyst (OEC) is a critical determinant for the efficiency of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. Here we report an approach to depositing a novel manganese borate (Mn-Bi) OER catalyst on BiVO4 nanocone photoanode by photodeposition in sodium borate buffer solution containing Mn(Ⅱ) ions. Due to the spontaneous photo-electric-field-enhancement effect at the vertically oriented BiVO4 nanocone structure, spherical Mn-Bi nanoparticle was selectively photodeposited at the apex of BiVO4 nanocone. Significant improvement of photocurrent was observed for the obtained hierarchical Mn-Bi/BiVO4 photoanode which could be ascribed to enhanced hole injection efficiency, especially in low bias region. It was observed that the injection efficiency of Mn-Bi/BiVO4 is 98% which gave a photocurrent of 0.94 ma/cm^2 at 1.5 V vs. RHE.

Dendrites play irreplaceable roles in the nerve conduction pathway and are vulnerable to various *** axotomy of motor neurons results in the retraction of dendritic arbors,and the dendritic arbor can be re-expanded when reinnervation is *** is a target that regulates the cytoskeleton and promotes neuronal survival and axon ***,the role of RhoA in dendrite degeneration and regeneration is *** this study,we explored the potential role of RhoA in dendrites.A line of motor neuronal conditional knockout mice was developed by crossbreeding HB9~(Cre+)mice with RhoA~(flox/flox)*** established two models for assaying dendrite degeneration and regeneration,in which the brachial plexus was transection or crush injured,*** found that at 28 days after brachial plexus transection,the density,complexity,and structural integrity of dendrites in the ventral horn of the spinal cord of RhoA conditional knockout mice were slightly decreased compared with that in Cre *** underwent degeneration at 7 and 14 days after brachial plexus transection and recovered at 28–56 *** density,complexity,and structural integrity of dendrites in the ventral horn of the spinal cord of RhoA conditional knockout mice recovered compared with results in Cre *** findings suggest that RhoA knockout in motor neurons attenuates dendrite degeneration and promotes dendrite regeneration after peripheral nerve injury.
