A number of cold seeps have been discovered in the northern South China Sea(SCS) including the Haiyang 4 cold-seep area where Core 973-5 was collected. Intact polar lipids(IPLs) and core lipids(CLs) were analyzed separately in sediments from Core 973-5. The most abundant lipid biomarkers were isoprenoidal GDGTs(iso GDGTs), with Crenarchaeol and GDGT-0 predominating. IPL-iso GDGTs and CL-iso GDGTs were mainly derived from Thaumarchaeota. IPL-iso GDGTs were mainly produced and retained in situ thus containing most of the in situ microbiological information. Branched GDGTs were predominantly derived from generated in marine production, and mixed with some terrestrial inputs. All IPLs groups presented a high value in the sulfate-methane transition zone(SMTZ). Furthermore, IPL and CL-MI, IPL-R;showed the highest values within the SMTZ, while IPL and CL-R;had the lowest values at the SMTZ, suggesting that the contribution of Methanophila and methanogenic to GDGTs increased, while the contribution of ammonia-oxidizing Archaea to GDGTs decreased at the SMTZ.

Objective This study aimed to develop an artificial neural network(ANN) model combined with dietary retinol intake from different sources to predict the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in American *** Data from the 2007 to 2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)2007–2014 were analyzed. Eligible subjects(n = 6,613) were randomly divided into a training set(n1 =4,609) and a validation set(n2 = 2,004) at a ratio of 7:3. The training set was used to identify predictors of NAFLD risk using logistic regression analysis. An ANN was established to predict the NAFLD risk using a training set. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis was performed to evaluate the accuracy of the model using the training and validation *** Our study found that the odds ratios(ORs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) of NAFLD for the highest quartile of plant-derived dietary retinol intake(i.e., provitamin A carotenoids, such as β-carotene)(OR = 0.75, 95% CI: 0.57 to 0.99) were inversely associated with NAFLD risk, compared to the lowest quartile of intake, after adjusting for potential confounders. The areas under the ROC curves were 0.874 and 0.883 for the training and validation sets, respectively. NAFLD occurs when its incidence probability is greater than *** The ANN model combined with plant-derived dietary retinol intake showed a significant effect on NAFLD. This could be applied to predict NAFLD risk in the American adult population when government departments formulate future health plans.

Microbial diversity in the hydrate-containing （sites SH3B and SH7B） and -free （sites SHIB, SH5B, SH5C） sediments collected from the Shenhu area of the South China Sea （SCS） was investigated using 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis. The phylogenetic results indicate difference in microbial communities be- tween hydrate-containing and -free sediments. At the gas hydrate-containing sites, bacterial communities were dominated by Deltaproteobacteria （30.5%）, and archaeal communities were dominated by Miscellaneous Crenarchaeotic Group （33.8%）; In contrast, Planctomycetes was the major group （43.9%） in bacterial communities, while Marine Benthic Group-D （MBG-D）（32.4%） took up the largest proportion in the archaeal communities. Moreover, the microbial communities have characteristics different from those in other hydrate-related sediments around the world, indicating that the presence of hydrates can affect the microbial distribution. In addition, the microbial community composition in the studied sediments has its own uniqueness, which may result from co-effect of geochemical characteristics and presence/absence of hydrate.

Anionic polyacrylamide dispersions were prepared by dispersion polymerization in an aqueous salt medium, using acrylamide（AM） and acrylic acid（AA） as monomers and anionic polyelectrolytes as stabilizer. Effects of salt concentration, and molecular weight and concentration of stabilizers on the stability of the dispersions were investigated using a HAAKE rheometer and optical microscopy. The results showed that stable anionic polyacrylamide dispersions, consisting of smooth, spherical, polydisperse particles, could be obtained under the conditions of salt concentration ranging from 26 wt% to 30 wt%, concentration of stabilizers from 1.2 wt% to 1.8 wt%, and intrinsic viscosity of stabilizers from 2.98 dL·g^-1 to 3.74 dL·g^-1. The apparent viscosity of the stable dispersions changed very little with the shear rate, showing Newton fluid behavior.

Candidate division JS 1-and Chloroflexi-related bacteria are ubiquitous in various deep marine sediments worldwide, yet almost nothing is known about their abundance and diversity in cold seep sediments. Here, we investigated the abundance and diversity of JS1- and Chloroflexi-related bacteria in a cold seep marine sediment core collected from the northern South China Sea （SCS） with the employment of quantitative polymerase chain reaction （qPCR） and 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analyses. The qPCR results showed that 16S rRNA gene copies per gram of sediments for the total bacteria and JS 1- and Chloroflexi-related bacteria were at magnitudes of 108 and 106, respectively. The relative abundance of JS 1- and Chloroflexi-related 16S rRNA genes to that of total bacteria was 0.07%-8.78% throughout the core. Phyloge- netic analyses showed that the JS-1 related clone sequences were dominant throughout the core. Our study provided insights into abundance and diversity of JS 1- and Chloroflexi-related bacteria in the northern SCS cold seep sediments.

The problem is solved by use of the boundary integral equation method and the high order finite element discretization on the assumption that the flow of water is inviscid, incompressible and irrotational, and the bubble gas obeys the isoentropic rule. The evolution of bubble is simulated by means of mixed Euler-Lagrangian method. The comparison of the numerical results with the 'exact solution' of a spheric bub ble and experimental data shows that the mathematical model is reasonable and the 3-D numerical method has high accuracy. Important behaviour of bubble, such as immigration and jetting, and dynamic load on an ellipsoid near explosion are derived.

Background China has been striving to train primary care doctors capable of delivering high-quality service through general practitioner training programs and family doctor team reforms,but these initiatives have not adequately met patient needs and *** order to guide further reform efforts to better meet patient expectations,this study generates a profile of the good doctor in primary care from the patient *** Semi-structured interviews were conducted in six provinces(Shandong,Zhejiang,Henan,Shaanxi,Shanxi,Heilongjiang)in China.A total of 58 interviewees completed the recorded ***-based analysis was used to produce narrative *** research assistants listened to the recordings of the interviews and summarized them by 30-s *** analysis was performed on narrative summaries to identify thematic *** Five domains and 18 attributes were generated from the analysis of the interview *** domains of the good doctor in primary care from the patient perspective were:strong Clinical Competency(mentioned by 97%of participants)and Professionalism&Humanism(mentioned by 93%of participants)during service delivery,followed by Service Provision and Information Communication(mentioned by 74%and 62%of participants,respectively).Moreover,Chinese patients expect that primary care doctors have high educational attainment and a good personality(mentioned by 41%of participants).Conclusions This five-domain profile of the good doctor in primary care constitutes a foundation for further primary care workforce capacity *** primary care reform efforts should reflect the patient views and expectations,especially in the family physician competency framework and primary care performance assessment system ***,frontline primary care organizations also need to create supportive environments to assist competent doctors practice in primary care,especially through facilitating the learning o
