Leishmaniasis in the Argentine Republic: Temporal and geographical distribution from 2013 to 2017

Objective: To assess the temporal and geographical distribution of confirmed cases of cutaneous, mucocutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis in the Argentine Republic from 2013 to 2017. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out using data collected from the Integrated Surveillance Bulletin database of the National System of Health Surveillance. Confirmed cases of cutaneous, mucocutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis up to the 52 nd epidemiological week of each year was included. Results: In the 5 years period, 1 295 confirmed leishmaniasis cases were reported in the Argentine Republic. One thousand twenty-eight(1 028) cases corresponded to cutaneous leishmaniasis(87.10%), being the most common type of leishmaniasis. Mucocutaneous leishmaniasis was in the second place in the country with 115 cases reported, mostly in the Northwest and Northeast regions. A total of 52 individuals with visceral leishmaniasis were identified and Misiones Province was the most affected. Conclusions: It is important to analyze the temporal and geographical distribution of leishmaniasis in order to provide an adequate management and surveillance.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most frequent neoplasms and an important cause of mortality in the developed *** cancer is caused by both genetic and environmental factors although 35%of the variation in CRC susceptibility involves inherited genetic *** syndromes account for about5%of the total burden of CRC,with Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis the most common *** hereditary forms,there is an important fraction of CRC cases that present familial aggregation for the disease with an unknown germline genetic *** can be also considered as a complex disease taking into account the common diseasecommom variant hypothesis with a polygenic model of inheritance where the genetic components of common complex diseases correspond mostly to variants of low/moderate *** far,30 common,low-penetrance susceptibility variants have been identified for ***,new sequencing technologies including exomeand whole-genome sequencing have permitted to add a new approach to facilitate the identification of new genes responsible for human disease *** using whole-genome sequencing,germline mutations in the POLE and POLD1 genes have been found to be responsible for a new form of CRC genetic predisposition called polymerase proofreading-associated polyposis.

Colorectal cancer （CRC） is one of the most common neoplasms and an important cause of mortality worldwide （http：//globocan. ***]）. Approximately 35% of the variation in CRC susceptibility is likely due to heritable factors （Lichtenstein et al., 2000}. Genetic variations in the human genome include single nucleotide variants （SNVs）, short insertions and deletions, and larger structural variants resulting in gain or loss of genomic DNA larger than 1 kb, such as copy number variants （CNVs）. Leaving aside the importance of CNVs in sporadic tumor development, these variants can also be present in the germline DNA of healthy individuals from the general population and be considered polymorphic.

Epidemiological profile and management of acute pyelonephritis in the emergency department of a tertiary hospital: A retrospective observational study

Objective:To assess the clinical and microbiological characteristics as well as the risk factors of early readmission(<72 h)in acute pyelonephritis(APN)patients discharged from emergency department(ED).Methods:The medical records of patients discharged with a diagnosis of APN between January 1,2014 and December 31,2015 were ***,clinical,ultrasound results,and laboratory characteristics were collected,and the risk factors of prompt readmission and non-prompt readmission were ***:A total of 423 APN patients were *** mean age was(44.3±19.0)*** bulk of the patients were women(79.9%),and 20%of cases had episodes *** cultures were requested in 77.5%of cases,with Escherichia coli being the most frequently isolated bacterium(80.1%).Resistance to one or more antibiotics was found in 68.1%of the *** most widely used antibiotics were beta-lactam with beta-lactamases inhibitor(46%),and aminoglycosides in 24.4%of ***,73.5%of the patients received antibiotic treatment in the ED,and 46.8%of the patients were ***,6.1%of the patients discharged from the ED had re-admission without associated risk ***:Given the high rate of resistance,it is important to know the profile of antibiotics in different ***,the administration of antibiotics in the ED is useful in the prevention of early readmissions of APN(<72 h).
