Lighting quality and acoustic quality are often not well addressed in the current green building practice,including the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design(LEED)Green Building Rating system in the *** the level of LEED certification indicates the level of sustainability,it is not clear if a higher level of LEED certification also implies a more comfortable and productive work *** study intended to find the relationship between the level of LEED certification and the level of worker satisfaction and perceived job performance regarding lighting quality and acoustic quality from fifteen LEED-certified *** findings indicate that the LEED Platinum building group tended to provide better lighting quality than the other lower certification groups,while the LEED Gold building group showed lower lighting quality and acoustic quality than the rest of the *** designers and organizations should be mindful of the importance of lighting and acoustic qualities in promoting better comfort and productivity as it is easy to overlook these criteria when complying with LEED IEQ guidelines.

Theory, simulation and experiment of optical properties of cobalt ferrite(CoFe2O4) nanoparticles

Optical properties of cobalt ferrite(CoFe2O4) nanoparticles are modeled and simulated employing finite element analysis(FEA) and density functional theory(DFT) for different particle sizes. The simulated absorption maxima of electronic excitations is red-shifted from 330 nm to 410 nm using finite element analysis and from 331.27 nm to 409.07 nm using quantum mechanical method, with increasing particle sizes from 40 nm to 50 nm. The measured absorption maxima matched the simulated results reasonably well and red-shifted to longer wavelengths from 315.59 nm to 426.73 nm with the increase in particle sizes from 30 nm to 50 nm. The DFT simulated, FEA simulated and experimentally derived optical band gap energies, Eg, were also acquired and compared. The simulated Egvalues decreased from 3.228 to 2.478 e V and from 3.266 to 2.456 e V, while the experimental Egvalue decreased from 3.473 to 2.697 e V, with increasing the particle sizes. The research demonstrated that the optical absorption of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles can be described with high accuracy using the quantum mechanical interpretation based on DFT. FEA based simulations have shown limitations for smaller(s likely due to the increased surface scattering that prevented a stable solution for simulations beyond the quasistatic limit. The DFT computational tool developed by this study can enable both the low cost computation and highly reliable prediction of optical absorption properties and optical band edges, and thus contribute to understanding and design of CoFe2O4 nanoparticle properties prior to fabrication and functionalization of them, for a wide range of applications especially for sensing and photonic wave modulations.

In storage service, data de-duplication is a specialized technique for eliminating duplicate copies of repeating data in storage. Especially, client-side de-duplication has more merits than server-side deduplication since they can improve both the space efficiency and the communication bandwidth. For secure client-side de-duplication, we need a way to prove the ownership of a file to be stored. In the upload step,the server should verify the ownership of a client to give the right of the file without uploading it. On the contrary, the client also want to verify the retrievability for the file since he will delete it from his storage after protocol execution. Existing proof of ownership techniques have been designed for server's need. In this paper, we first point out that we need the second property in client's view point, and give a very simple and practical solution which can support the server and the client to prove that they have the same file. We first describe a generic strategy which can help us to construction a bi-directional and concurrent proof of ownership technique from an ordinary proof of ownership technique, and then give an efficient hash-based scheme with security proof in the random oracle model.

stract>Profound and diffuse alterations in the production of gonadal and adrenal androgens as well as growth hormone are associated with aging. To convey this concept more appropriately, partial endocrine deficiency in the aging male (PEDAM) was introduced as a term for the phenomenon of hormonal alterations in the aging male. Hormones responsible for some of the manifestations associated with male aging are testosterone, growth hormone, dehydroepiansdrosterone (DHEA), melatonin, thyroid hormones and leptin. Of these, testosterone has been widely investigated and its beneficial and adverse effects on male bodily systems are relatively well established. However, a serious body of confusion and misunderstandings surrounding the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of men suspected of having androgen deficiency has been raised. Therefore, it is timely to provide practical criteria for diagnosis and treatment to avoid misconception about the use of testosterone in the aging male. To provide an understanding and information of the issues, the following headings are summarized: (1) Important clinical consideration on testosterone supplementation in the aging male; (2) Asian practical recommendations on testosterone supplementation in the aging male.

Wounds, characterized by the disruption of the continuity of body tissues resulting from external trauma,manifest in diverse types and locations. Although numerous wound dressings are available for various woundscenarios, it remains challenging to find an integrative wound dressing capable of addressing diverse woundsituations. We focused on utilizing sulfated hyaluronan (sHA), known for its anti-inflammatory properties andcapacity to load cationic drugs. By conjugating catechol groups to sHA (sHA-CA), we achieved several advantagesin wound healing: 1) Fabrication of patches through crosslinking with catechol-modified high-molecularweighthyaluronan (HA(HMW)-CA), 2) Adhesiveness that enabled stable localization, 3) Radical scavenging thatcould synergize with the immunomodulation of sHA. The sHA-CA patches demonstrated therapeutic efficacy inthree distinct murine wound models: diabetic wound, hepatic hemorrhage, and post-surgical adhesion. Collectively,these findings underscore the potential of the sHA-CA patch as a promising candidate for the nextgenerationwound dressing.

本文运用多种地质统计学方法分析了岩石节理的空间变化性,并建立了节理方位、密度和长度参数的完整模型、通过对这些典型参数空间变化性的量测以及对交差图的分析,按无偏最小估计方差(即克立格方差)估计的克立格方法建立模型.运用普通克立格法建立局部块段节理的确定性模型以服务于某露天矿的论证,而且采用这种确定性模型能够进行边坡稳定性、块度和水力渗流系统等各种岩土工程分析.用克立格估计值和实际量测值之间的对比来检验岩体节理模型,其结果是肯定的.同时还发现节理参数的局部统计特征与其整体统计特征明显不同.由于岩体节理在任何岩土工程分析中都起重要作用,故任何岩土工程分析都必须进行局部模型分析.

The free vibration characteristics of fluid-filled functionally graded cylindrical shells buried partially in elas- tic foundations are investigated by an analytical method. The elastic foundation of partial axial and angular dimen- sions is represented by the Pasternak model. The motion of the shells is represented by the first-order shear defor- mation theory to account for rotary inertia and transverse shear strains. The functionally graded cylindrical shells are composed of stainless steel and silicon nitride. Material prop- erties vary continuously through the thickness according to a power law distribution in terms of the volume fraction of the constituents. The governing equation is obtained using the Rayleigh-Ritz method and a variation approach. The fluid is described by the classical potential flow theory. Numerical examples are presented and compared with existing available results to validate the present method.
