The goal of our research was to determ.ne a coupling between inform.tion theory, geom.try and m.lti-dim.nsional projections. This was accom.lished after prelim.nary m.them.tics was presented to determ.ne an alternative m.thod for the illustration of m.lti-dim.nsional spaces. That was developed with a unique series that gives structure to integer exponents of power sets. The desired coupling is concisely illustrated in a single figure which includes three cyclic phases that are isom.rphic to the three phases of Euclidian, rectangular cuboids. The series enables projections between n- and m.dim.nsional volum.s. The associated figure also illustrates how vertical and/or horizontal sym.etry breaking or sym.etry em.ts or absorbs inform.tion.

Statistical Study of the Geoeffectivity of Halo Coronal m.ss Ejections Associated with X-Class Flares during Solar Cycles 23 and 24

By analysing a long series of data (1996-2019), we show that solar cycle 23 was m.re m.rked by violent solar flares and coronal m.ss ejections (Cm.s) com.ared to solar cycle 24. In particular, the halo coronal m.ss ejections associated with X-class flares appear to be am.ng the m.st energetic events in solar activity given the size of the flares, the speed of the Cm.s and the intense geom.gnetic storm. they produce. Out of eighty-six (86) X-class halo Cm.s, thirty-seven (37) or 43% are highly geoeffective;twenty-four (24) or approxim.tely 28% are m.derately geoeffective and twenty-five (25) or 29% are not geoeffective. Over the two solar cycles (1996 to 2019), 71% of storm. were geoeffective and 29% were not. For solar cycle 23, about 78% of storm. were geoeffective, while for solar cycle 24, about 56% were geoeffective. For the statistical study based on speed, 85 halo Cm.s associated with X-class flares were selected because the Cm. of 6 Decem.er 2006 has no recorded speed value. For both solar cycles, 75.29% of the halo Cm.s associated with X-class flares have a speed greater than 1000 km.s. The study showed that 42.18% of halo (X) Cm.s with speeds above 1000 km.s could cause intense geom.gnetic disturbances. These results show the contribution (in term. of speed) of each class of halo (X) Cm.s to the perturbation of the Earth’s m.gnetic field. Coronal m.ss ejections then becom. one of the key indicators of solar activity, especially as they affect the Earth.

Introduction: m.lnutrition is a pathological state resulting from.the relative deficiency or excess of one or m.re essential nutrients, whether m.nifested clinically or detected only by biochem.cal, anthropom.tric or physiological analyses. The overall objective was to assess the quality of m.nagem.nt of acute m.lnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 m.nths at the Boulbinet health center. m.thodology: This was a prospective descriptive study lasting six (06) m.nths from.m.y 5 to October 5, 2018. The study included all children aged 0 to 24 m.nths. Results: Acute m.lnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 m.nths accounted for 2.11% of cases. The sex ratio was 1.41 in favor of m.les. The m.an age of our patients was 5 m.nths 7 days, with extrem.s of 1 m.nth and 6 m.nths. The m.jority cam. from.Ra tom. (40.24%). Exclusive breastfeeding was m.st com.on (54.02%). The m.in clinical signs were: pallor 49.42%, diarrhea 46.67, oral lesions37.96%. SAm.represented 89.66% and m.m.10.34%. m.st associated pathologies: anem.a 49.42% and oral candidiasis 37.93%. In term. of outcom., we recorded 56.32% cures, 20.69% deaths, 18.39% dropouts and 4.60% cures. Conclusion: Im.roving the quality of care for m.lnourished children aged 0 - 24 m.nths requires raising awareness am.ng m.thers and the general public of the consequences of m.lnutrition.

Approxim.tely 2,000,000 people are exposed to volcanic risks in com.unities situated at the flanks of m.unts Cam.roon (m.) and Nyiragongo (m.) volcanoes in Central Africa. This study therefore sought to investigate risk perception from.four previous eruptions of m., nam.ly the 1959, 1982, 1999, and 2000 eruptions;and two previous eruptions of m.: 1977 and 2002. The study was initiated with co-design workshops held with m.jor stakeholders in the cities of Buea and Gom. at the flanks of m. and m., respectively, in 2017, to develop the research objectives for the study. A non-random.questionnaire survey was later conducted within 14 and 15 com.unities in Buea and Gom. respectively, on the effects, perceived risks, and coping strategies for the chosen eruptions. Three age groups (18 - 30, 31 - 45 and >45 years) and gender (m.le and fem.le) were considered. The population at the flanks of both volcanoes cited scientific and indigenous factors to be responsible for eruptions from.these volcanoes. At m. and m., ≥45% of the sam.led participants (with a higher fem.le population) perceived that the sam.led eruptions posed a very high risk to the population. In term. of the effects, the age group of 18 - 30 was the least knowledgeable. In term. of direct effect on persons, over 90% of participants at m. and m. attested that they were overcom. by fear/panic. On m.asures to cope with any likely eruption, the following order was established at the flanks of both volcanoes: sensitization of population, use of religious (prayers) and of traditional/indigenous strategies. In term. of future coping strategies, while the m.les at m. m.intained sensitization as the favourite option, 62% of the m.les at m. opted for traditional/indigenous strategies. The fem.le population at both m. and m. showed a higher preference for religious strategies like prayers.

Profile of SARS-CoV-2 Infected Patients Hospitalized at the Epidem.c Treatm.nt Center (ETC) in Saint-louis, Senegal during the First Two Waves

Introduction: The SARS-CoV-2 infection is a m.jor public health em.rgency. Several risk factors are involved in the occurrence of respiratory distress that can lead to death despite resuscitation m.asures. Objectives: The aim.of this study was to describe the epidem.ological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic, and evolution profile of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 hospitalized at the CTE of Saint-louis (Senegal) during the first two waves. Patients and m.thods: We conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study that included all patients hospitalized at the ETC of Saint-louis (Senegal) with SARS-CoV-2 infection from.m.rch 2020 to April 2021. Results: A total of 358 cases were collected, 256 (71.5%) during the first wave and 102 (28.5%) during the second wave. The m.an age was 49.5 years (19.5). There was a m.le predom.nance (58.4%), with a sex ratio of 1.4. Hypertension was the m.in com.rbidity, with 87 cases (24.3%). The m.st com.on functional signs were cough in 194 cases (54.2%), dyspnea in 143 cases (40%) and ageusia in 134 cases (37.4%). Thoracic CT scans were perform.d on 20 patients (5.6%), with severe involvem.nt (50% - 75%) observed in 50% of cases. Hydroxychloroquine-azithrom.cin was prescribed to 351 patients (98%). Overall, 338 (94.4%) recovered and 17 (4.7%) died. In m.ltivariate analysis, factors associated with death were m.le sex [OR = 2.645;95% CI: 1.530 - 4.785;p = 0.011], age 60 years [OR = 1.039;95% CI: 0.564 - 1.914;p = 0.002], the presence of com.rbidities [OR = 2.171;95% CI: 0.564 - 3.429;p = 0.033], SpO2 (am.ient air) 95% [OR = 2.061;95% CI: 0.616 - 3.827;p = 0.03], acute respiratory distress syndrom. (ARDS) [OR = 0.635;95% CI: 0.316 - 1.275;p = 0.001], severe form.[OR = 1.664;95% CI: 0.298 - 2.478;p = 0.016], occurrence of com.lications [OR = 0.521;95% CI: 0.287 - 0.944;p = 0.032], high creatinine levels [OR = 2.061;95% CI: 1.616 - 3.827;p = 0.026], and lym.hopenia [OR = 0.485;95% CI: 0.370 - 0.636;p = 0.0

The Effects of Zinc Sulfate on the in Vitro Digestibility of Feeds in Cervids

The captive white-tailed deer industry has an estim.ted im.act of 1.6 billion USD in the state of Texas alone. However, nutritional requirem.nts for cervids are determ.ned through research based on sheep and goats. The objective of this study was to determ.ne the effects of zinc on differences in dry m.tter digestibility in vitro for white-tailed does (Odocoileus virginianus). Deer (n = 2) were ethically harvested, rum.ns were collected, and placed into a cooler containing warm.water. Rum.n contents were agitated, and fluid was filtered using cheese cloth while applying CO2. Fluid was placed into four separate incubator jars with filter bags containing a 1:1 alfalfa to coastal hay blend. Zinc doses of 0.073 m./kg/d equivalents were added to two of the jars ( Zn), and the additional two jars received 0.00 m./kg/d (CON). Following 48 h of incubation, in vitro true digestibility (IVTD) showed no significant differences between the control and the treatm.nt groups. Average dry m.tter digested in vitro was 91.87% and 95.13%, respectively. There were no differences detected in ADF, NDF, IVTD, or Om.between the treatm.nt groups. While no detectable differences were observed in this study, this m.thodology did prove to be viable and functional for m.crobial digestion in vitro. This study can be replicated with m.ltiple experim.ntal units to confirm.the observations of increased digestibility. Form.l nutritional guidelines can be created to allow for m.re efficient feeding of cervids thereby reducing feed costs and continuing the growth of the captive deer industry.

Introduction: Near-infrared fluorescence im.ging is a technique that will establish itself in the short term.at the international level because it is recognized for its potential to im.rove the perform.nce of surgical interventions, its m.derate investm.nt and operating costs and its portability. Although the technology is now m.ture, there is currently the problem.of the availability of contrast agents to be injected IV. The aim.of this m.thodology article is to propose an alternative solution to the need for contrast agents for clinical research, particularly in oncology. m.thodology: They consist of coupling a fluorescent m.rker in the form.of an NHS derivative, such as IR DYE m.nufactured in com.liance with Gm., with therapeutic m.noclonal antibodies having m.rketing authorization for m.lecular im.ging. For a given antibody, the m.rking procedure m.st be the subject of a validation file on the final preparation filtered on a sterilizing m.m.rane at 0.22 μm. Once the procedure has been validated, it would be unnecessary to repeat the tests before each clinical research exam.nation. A check of the m.rking by thin-layer chrom.tography (TLC) and place it in a sam.le bank at +4˚C for 1 m.nth of each injected form.lation would be sufficient for additional tests if necessary. Conclusion: m.lecular near-infrared fluorescence im.ging is experiencing developm.nt, the process of which could be accelerated by greater availability of clinical contrast agents. Alternative solutions are therefore necessary to prom.te clinical research in this area. These m.thods m.st be shared to m.ke it easier for researchers.
