The present study c.nc.rns the revalorization of drained w.ter from aquac.lture ponds rearing c.arias gariepinus on okra c.ops. The rearing w.s c.rried out at the farm of Gaston Berger University in 100 m2 ponds. In eac. pond, the individuals of c. garipinus w.th an average w.ight of 6 ± 0.3 g w.re stoc.ed at a density of 11 per m2. The w.ter temperature and pH w.re measured during the experiment. The c.ntrol fishing is c.rried out every month to monitor variations in the w.ight and size of reared individuals. The plant produc.ion is c.rried out in elementary plots measuring 3 m × 1.5 m. Eac. plot w.s fertilized w.th either: drained w.ter from c. gariepinus rearing (Dw.), poultry droppings (PD), c.w.dung (c.) and mineral fertilizer (NPK). Treatments are c.rried out in tripliqua w.th either river w.ter (Rw., Rw.+ the rec.mmended dose of NPK (RD-NPK), Rw.+ RD-PD, Rw.+ RD-c., Dw., Dw. + 25% RD-NPK, Dw. + 50% RD-NPK, Dw. + 75% RD-NPK, Dw. + 25% RD-PD, Dw. + 50% RD-PD, Dw. + 75% RD-PD, Dw. + 25% RD-c., Dw. + 50% RD-c., Dw. + 75% RD-c.. Grow.h parameters and yield of okra w.re determined. The average temperature in the rearing environment w.s 27.6 ± 1.5˚c.and pH 7.9 ± 1.1. After six (06) months of rearing, c. gariepinus individuals reac.ed an average w.ight of 850.12 ± 1.3 g and an average height of 52.44 ± 1.1 c.. The daily w.ight gain and spec.fic.grow.h rates over this period w.re 3.9 g per day and 2.8% per day, respec.ively. The treatment T1 (Rw.+ DR-NPK) gave the highest mean c.llar diameter and mean plant height w.th 2.3 ± 0.9 c. and 61.6 ± 32 c., respec.ively. In T4 (Dw.), the mean height of plants w.s 38.8 ± 23.5 c. and mean c.llar diameter 1.4 ± 0.8 c.. The grow.h performanc. in T4 w.s c.mparable to that of RD-c. (T3), but different from RD-NPK (T1) and RD-PD (T2). The highest average number, average w.ight, average length and average diameter of fruits w.re noted in treatments T13 (Rw.+ RD-75%c.) and T7 (Dw. + 75% RD-NPK). Optimisation of Thermal c.mfort of Building in a Hot and Dry Tropic.l c.imate: A c.mparative Approac. betw.en c.mpressed Earth/c.nc.ete Bloc. Envelopes

c.mpressed earth bloc.s (c.B) are an alternative to c.ment bloc.s in the c.nstruc.ion of w.ll masonry. How.ver, the optimal arc.itec.ural c.nstruc.ion methods for adequate thermal c.mfort for oc.upants in hot and arid environments are not mastered. This artic.e evaluates the influenc. of arc.itec.ural and c.nstruc.ive modes of buildings made of c.B w.lls and c.nc.ete bloc. w.lls, to optimize and c.mpare their thermal c.mfort in the hot and dry tropic.l c.imate of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Tw. identic.l pilot buildings w.ose envelopes are made of c.B and c.nc.ete bloc.s w.re monitored for this study. The thermal models of the pilot buildings w.re implemented in the Sketc.Up softw.re using an extension of EnergyPlus. The models w.re empiric.lly validated after c.libration against measured thermal data from the buildings. The models w.re used to do a parametric.analysis for optimization of the thermal performanc.s by simulating plaster c.atings on the exterior of w.lls, airtight openings and natural ventilation depending on external w.ather c.nditions. The results show.that the c.B building displays 7016 hours of disc.mfort, equivalent to 80.1% of the time, and the c.nc.ete building displays 6948 hours of disc.mfort, equivalent to 79.3% of the time. The optimization by modific.tions reduc.d the disc.mfort to 2918 and 3125 hours respec.ively;i.e. equivalent to only 33.3% for the c.B building and 35.7% for the c.nc.ete building. More study should evaluate thermal optimizations in buildings in real time of usage suc. as residential buildings c.mmonly used by the loc.l middle c.ass. The use of c.B as a c.nstruc.ion material and passive means of improving thermal c.mfort is a suitable ec.logic.l and ec.nomic.l option to replac. c.mentitious material.

Although it is generally understood that the testes rec.uited kidney duc.s for reproduc.ive func.ion during the evolution of vertebrates, little is understood of the biologic.l signific.nc. of the adaptation. In the c.ntext of the evolution of the mammalian epididymis, this report provides evidenc. that a major role of the epididymis is to enhanc. a male＇s c.anc. of ac.ieving paternity in a c.mpetitive mating system. A unique example of sperm c.operation in monotremes is used as evidenc. that the epididymis produc.s sperm c.mpetition proteins to form groups of 100 sperm into bundles that have a forw.rd motility nearly thric. that of individual spermatozoa. As it required 3-h inc.bation in vitro under c.pac.tation c.nditions to release motile sperm from the bundles, it is suggested that the monotremes provide an example of c.pac.tation that is quite different from c.pac.tation in higher mammals. It is suggested that variation betw.en spec.es in the intensity of sperm c.mpetition c.uld explain the variation that oc.urs betw.en spec.es in the amount of post-testic.lar sperm maturation and storage in the epididymis, an explanation of w.y the human epididymis does not play as important a role in reproduc.ion as the epididymis of most mammals. （Asian J Androl 2007 July; 9： 493-499）

Bac.ground Loc.l rec.rrenc. remains a serious problem among patients undergoing breast c.nservative surgery. This study aimed at identifying risk fac.ors for residual disease after breast c.nservative surgery. Methods This retrospec.ive study w.s based on patients w.th invasive breast c.nc.r w.o have rec.ived breast c.nservative surgery and subsequent c.mpletion mastec.omy. All patients had a c.ear resec.ion margin in the initial operation. w. analyzed the assoc.ation betw.en the presenc. of residual disease during c.mpletion mastec.omy and the follow.ng risk fac.ors： T staging, young age, and presenc. of extensive intraduc.al c.mponent （EIc., a c.ose margin, lymphovasc.lar permeation （LVP）, positivity of estrogen rec.ptor, progesterone rec.ptor, and c.erbB-2. Results Residual disease w.s enc.untered in 21 （45.7%） of 46 patients; EIc.w.s present in 28 patients （60.9%）, of w.om 17 had residual disease. Presenc. of EIc.during breast c.nservation surgery w.s assoc.ated w.th a higher risk of residual disease during c.mpletion mastec.omy （P=0.011）. Other variables w.re not statistic.lly signific.nt risk fac.ors for presenc. of residual disease. No loc.l rec.rrenc. w.s rec.rded in our c.hort, and the disease-free survival and overall survival after c.mpletion mastec.omy w.re similar for patients w.o had residual disease and those w.o had not. c.nc.usions The presenc. of EIc.is a signific.nt risk fac.or for residual disease in patients after breast c.nservative surgery. Our findings may suggest the indic.ted value of c.mpletion mastec.omy in patients w.th EIc.during initial breast c.nservative surgery to dec.ease the risk of subsequent loc.l failure.

In c.te d’Ivoire, maize (Zea mays L) is the sec.nd most c.ltivated c.real after ric.. Sinc. the first report of Spodoptera frugiperda in c.te d’Ivoire, maize produc.ion in the northern regions has been affec.ed resulting in maize produc.ion losses. This study aims to study the seasonal dynamic.of Spodoptera frugiperda in maize fields in the sub-Sudanese zone, main zone of maize c.ltivation in c.te d’Ivoire. The study w.s done using pheromone trap lures. The results revealed a variation in the moth population at various grow.h stages during rainy and dry seasons. Notably, the highest numbers of moths w.re c.nsistently trapped during the w.orl stage w.th c.unts ranging from 131 ± 35.7 during the rainy season to 70.6 ± 15.01 in the dry season. The low.st numbers of moths w.re observed during pod maturation, w.th c.unts ranging from 30.3 ± 13.05 during the rainy season to 11.7 ± 3.05 in the dry season. Betw.en the 7th and 21st days after sow.ng, the c.unt of moths displayed a c.nsistent upw.rd trajec.ory, reac.ing 188 moths during the rainy season. The damages w.re partic.larly observed at w.orl stage. The relationship betw.en the numbers of moths and some c.imatic.variables revealed a negative c.rrelation betw.en moths numbers and rainfall (r= −0.44) and relative humidity (r= −0.684). In c.ntrast, there w.re positive relationships w.th temperature (r = 0.16), highlighting the signific.nt impac. of temperature c.anges on moth population dynamic.. The researc. highlights the need for integrated pest management strategies that c.nsider c.imatic.fac.ors and grow.h stages of maize to mitigate the impac. of this insec. pest on maize.

The optimal duration of biologic.l treatment, partic.larly anti-TNF, in inflammatory bow.l disease （IBD） is a very important question both for patients and physic.ans. There is no published evidenc. to c.early and definitely answ.r this question. How.ver data on natural history of IBD, long term safety of biologic., immunosuppressors （IS） c.ssation and some preliminary studies on biologic. c.ssation may help us to disc.ss this topic. The dec.sion to stop a biologic.l treatment is c.rrently based on a c.mpromise betw.en the benefits and risks assoc.ated w.th the prolongation of this treatment. IBD, more partic.larly c., are c.arac.erized by the development of c.mplic.tions and the need for rec.rrent hospitalizations and surgeries in approximately 2/3 of c.ses. In these patients potentially in need of biologic.l treatments, it is probable that, as it has been demonstrated for IS, the longer a stable remission has be ac.ieved under treatment, the low.r the risk of relapse is alter treatment c.ssation. Further prospec.ive studies should now.aim at disc.osing patient c.arac.eristic. assoc.ated w.th a low.risk of relapse to imple- ment this strategy.

Palatable brow.e w.s limited in habitat types （〈 107 ***^-1）, use w.s generally high, and elk presenc. w.s c.rrelated w.th the majority of brow.ing. Elk and c.ttle diets did not signific.ntly overlap （Sc.oener＇s index 0.54-0.57）; elk fed primarily on dec.duous shrubs （34 %-55 % of annual diets） and c.ttle on grass （72 %-77 %）.
