Objective:The objective is to estimate the prevalence and grading of hypertensive retinopa-thy in the primary care setting;examine the patient characteristics associated with hypertensive retinopathy;and examine the association of hypertensive retinopathy and other hypertension ***:This is a retrospective cross-sectional *** included adult hypertensive patients with available and gradable retinal ***:Two hundred fifty-six male hypertensive patients(34.3%)and 491 female hyper-tensive patients(65.7%)were *** average duration of hypertension was 7.2 years,and 49.8%and 41.2%of patients were taking one or two antihypertensive medications *** 1491 qualified retinal photographs(744 right eye and 747 left eye),24.9%,62.6%,and 12.5%were classified as showing normal,mild,and moderate hypertensive retinopathy *** three commonest retinal signs were generalized or focal arteriolar narrowing(650 cases,43.6%),hard exudates(168 cases,11.3%),and opacity(copper or silver wiring)of the arteriolar wall(166 cases,11.1%).Patients older than 61 years,hav.ng hypertension for more than 15 years,or taking three or more antihypertensive medications were significantly associated with hyperten-sive retinopathy(Png Kong,77.1%of hypertensive patients had hypertensive *** hypertensive retinopathy was the commonest target organ damage for hypertensive patients in a primary care clinic.

The Balanced Academic Curriculum Problem (BACP) is a constraint satisfaction problem classified as (Non-deterministic Polynomial-time Hard) NP-Hard. This problem consists in the allocation of courses in the periods that are part of a curriculum such that the prerequisites are satisfied and the load of courses is balanced for the students. This paper presents the solution for a modified BACP where the academic loads and number of curses may be the same or different for each one of the periods and allows hav.ng some courses in a specific period. This problem is modeled as an integer programming problem and is proposed the use of Tabu search with short-term memory for its solution because it is not possible to find solutions for all the instances of this modified problem with an exact method.

This study delved on the ballast water management methods among international vessels docking at Loboc Port, Iloilo City, Philippines and other factors that are considered during ballast operation. The respondents of this study were the seafarers from the 15 international vessels docking at Loboc Port. The findings of the study revealed that the international vessels docking at Loboc Port used the sequential method, flow-through method, chlorination method, hydrogen peroxide, Uv (ultraviolet) irradiation and filtration method in ballasting. In order to prevent transfer of alien invasive species, government authorities such as MARINA (Maritime Industry Authority) and Philippine Coast Guard should strictly monitor and implement the ballast water management methods used by international vessels based on the guidelines set by the IMO (International Maritime Organization).
