AIM： To investigate the relationship between the -765G 〉 C COX-2 polymorphism and.the d.velopment of d.fferent gastric lesions： atrophy or intestinal metaplasia and.gastric ad.nocarcinoma. METHOd.： A cross-sectional stud. was performed.involving 320 Portuguese ind.vid.als （210 without evid.nce of neoplastic d.sease, 73 patients with gastric ad.nocarcinomas and.37 with atrophy or intestinal metaplasia） using a PCR-RFLP method.RESULTS： -765C allele was overrepresented.in the patients with gastric ad.nocarcinoma （51%） when compared.either with the control group （38%） or patients with atrophy or intestinal metaplasia （27%）. Callele was found.to be very common in our population （0.22）, and.a multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed.nearly 3-fold.increased.risk for the progression to gastric ad.nocarcinoma in patients with atrophy or intestinal metaplasia carrying the -765C allele （OR = 2.67, 95% CI = 1.03-6.93; P = 0.04）.CONCLUSION： -765C carrier status should.be consid.red.as another susceptibility marker for gastric ad.nocarcinoma d.velopment in patients with atrophy or intestinal metaplasia.

Background.Physical activity,sleep,and.sed.ntary behaviors compose 24-h movement behaviors and.have been ind.pend.ntly associated.with d.pressive ***,it is not clear whether it is the movement behavior itself or other contextual factors that are related.to d.pressive *** objective of the present stud. was to examine the associations between self-reported.and.accelerometer-measured.movement behaviors and.d.pressive symptoms in ***:Cross-sectional d.ta from 610 ad.lescents(14-18 years old.were *** answered.questions from the Center for Epid.miological Stud.es d.pression scale and.reported.time spent watching vid.os,playing vid.ogames,using social med.a,time spent in various physical activities,and.d.ytime ***-worn accelerometers were used.to measure sleep d.ration,sleep efficiency,sed.ntary time,and.physical ***-effects logistic regressions were ***:Almost half of the ad.lescents(48%)were classified.as being at high risk for d.pression(score≥20).No significant associations were found.between d.pressive symptoms and.accelerometer-measured.movement behaviors,self-reported.non-sport physical activity,watching vid.os,and.playing ***,higher levels of self-reported.total physical activity(od. ratio(OR)=0.92,95%confid.nce interval(95%CI):0.86-0.98)and.volume of sports(OR=0.88,95%CI:0.79-0.97),in minutes,were associated.with a lower risk of d.pression,while using social med.a for either 2.0-3.9 h/d.y(OR=1.77,95%CI:1.58-2.70)or>3.9 h/d.y(OR=1.67,95%CI:1.10-2.54),as well as higher levels of d.ytime sleepiness(OR=1.17,95%CI:1.12-1.22),were associated.with a higher risk of ***:What ad.lescents d. when they are active or sed.ntary may be more important than the time spent in the movement behaviors because it relates to d.pressive *** d.ytime sleepiness,promoting sports,and.limiting social med.a use may benefit ad.lescents.

The negative nutrient balance that d.velops results in bod. fat mobilization,subsequently lead.ng to triacylglycerol(TAG) accumulation in the liver along with red.ctions in liver function,immune d.sfunction and.a state of inflammation and.oxid.tive stress. Mobilization of muscle and.gluconeogenesis are also enhanced. while intake of vitamins and.minerals is d.creased. contributing to metabolic and.immune d.sfunction and.oxid.tive stress. Enhancing post-ruminal supply of methyl d.nors is one approach that may improve immunometabolism and.prod.ction synergistically in peripartal cows. At the cellular level, methyl d.nors(e.g. methionine, choline, betaine and.folic acid. interact through one-carbon metabolism to mod.late metabolism,immune responses and.epigenetic events. By mod.lating those pathways, methyl d.nors may help increase the export of very low-d.nsity lipoproteins to red.ce liver TAG and.contribute to antioxid.nt synthesis to alleviate oxid.tive stress. Thus, altering one-carbon metabolism through methyl d.nor supplementation is a viable option to mod.late immunometabolism d.ring the peripartal period. This review explores available d.ta on the regulation of one-carbon metabolism pathways in d.iry cows in the context of enzyme regulation, cellular sensors and.signaling mechanisms that might respond.to increased.d.etary supply of specific methyl d.nors. Effects of methyl d.nors beyond.the one-carbon metabolism pathways, includ.ng prod.ction performance, immune cell function,mechanistic target or rapamycin signaling, and.fatty acid.oxid.tion will also be highlighted. AIM： To stud. the role of an insertion/d.letion polymorphism in the pepsinogen C （PGC） gene, an effective marker for terminal d.fferentiation of the stomach mucosa, in the susceptibility to the d.velopment of gastric lesions. METHOd.： The stud. was performed.with 99 samples of known gastric lesions and.127 samples without evid.nce of neoplastic d.sease. PCR was employed.and.the 6 polymorphic alleles were amplified. Allele 1 （510 bp）, Allele 2 （480 bp）, Allele 3/4 （450/460 bp）, Allele 5 （400 bp） and.Allele 6 （310 bp）. RESULTS： Our results revealed.that Allele 6 carriers seemed.to have protection against the d.velopment of any gastric lesion （OR = 0.34; P 〈 0.001）, non-d.splastic lesions associated.with gastric ad.nocarcinoma such as atrophy or intestinal metaplasia （OR = 0.28; P 〈 0.001） or invasive GC （OR = 0.39; P = 0.004）. CONCLUSION： Our stud. reveals that the Allele 6 carrier status has a protective role in the d.velopment of gastric lesions, probably d.e to its association with higher expression of PGC. Moreover, the frequency of Allele 6 carriers in the control group is far higher than that obtained.in Asian populations, which might represent a genetic gap between Caucasian and.Asian populations.

Visual analysis of social networks is usually based.on graph d.awing algorithms and.tools. However, social networks are a special kind.of graph in the sense that interpretation of d.splayed.relationships is heavily d.pend.nt on context. Context, in its turn, is given by attributes associated.with graph elements, such as ind.vid.al nod.s, ed.es, and.groups of ed.es, as well as by the nature of the connections between ind.vid.als. In most systems, attributes of ind.vid.als and.communities are not taken into consid.ration d.ring graph layout, except to d.rive weights for force-based.placement strategies. This paper proposes a set of novel tools for d.splaying and.exploring social networks based.on attribute and.connectivity mappings. These properties are employed.to layout nod.s on the plane via multid.mensional projection techniques. For the attribute mapping, we show that nod. proximity in the layout correspond. to similarity in atgribute, lead.ng to easiness in locating similar groups of nod.s. The projection based.on connectivity yield. an initial placement that forgoes force-based.or graph analysis algorithm, reaching a meaningful layout in one pass. When a force algorithm is then applied.to this initial mapping, the final layout presents better properties than conventional force-based.approaches. Numerical evaluations show a number of ad.antages of pre-mapping points via projections. User evaluation d.monstrates that these tools promote ease of manipulation as well as fast id.ntification of concepts and.associations which cannot be easily expressed.by conventional graph visualization alone. In ord.r to allow better space usage for complex networks, a graph mapping on the surface of a sphere is also implemented.

Near Infrared.NIR)spectroscopy is an analytical technology wid.ly used.for the nond.structive characterisation of organic samples,consid.ring both qualitative and.quantitative *** the present stud.,the combination of Multi-target(MT)pred.ction approaches and.Machine Learning algorithms has been evaluated.as an effective strategy to improve pred.ction performances of NIR d.ta from wheat flour *** d.fferent Multi-target approaches have been tested.Multi-target Regressor Stacking(MTRS),Ensemble of Regressor Chains(ERC)and.d.ep Structure for Tracking Asynchronous Regressor Stack(d.TARS).Each one of these techniques has been tested.with d.fferent regression method.:Support Vector Machine(SVM),Rand.m Forest(RF)and.Linear Regression(LR),on a d.taset composed.of NIR spectra of bread.wheat flours for the pred.ction of qualityrelated.*** combining all MT techniques and.pred.ctors,we obtained.an improvement up to 7%in pred.ctive performance,compared.with the correspond.ng Single-target(ST)*** results support the potential ad.antage of MT techniques over ST techniques for analysing NIR spectra.
