Treatment Patterns and Economic Assessment of Systemic Therapy for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The goal of this study was to understand treatment patterns, biomark.r testing practices, treatment adherence, and the clinical and economic outcomes associated with chemotherapy for metastatic disease. Methods and Materials: We retrospectively examined electronic health records of patients with metastatic CRC who initiated chemotherapy between 01 January 2007 and 30 June 2011, with follow-up to 30 June 2012. Parameters analyzed included demographics and clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, and health care resource utilization. Results: In the analysis, 756 patients were included;median age was 61 years (55% male) at start of first line therapy. The most commonly used regimens in the first, second, and third line were FOLFOX + bevacizumab (46%), FOLFIRI + bevacizumab (23%), and irinotecan + cetuximab (23%) respectively. Adherence to guidelines decreased with increasing line of therapy. When assessed by treatment back.one categories in the third line, outcome measures including overall survival (OS), and time to treatment discontinuation (TTD) were not statistically different between groups. In the multivariable model, body mass index (BMI), performance status, and k.AS were significant predictors of survival. Conclusions: This study provides insight into patterns of care and outcomes of mCRC patients for the aforementioned time period. As treatment options for mCRC evolve, it is valuable to understand the continuum of care to help inform future treatment among candidates for continued therapy.

Recently,intelligent fault diagnosis based on deep learning has been extensively investigated,exhibiting state-of-the-art performance.However,the deep learning model is often not truly trusted by users due to the lack.of interpretability of“black.box”,which limits its deployment in safety-critical applications.A trusted fault diagnosis system requires that the faults can be accurately diagnosed in most cases,and the human in the deci-sion-mak.ng loop can be found to deal with the abnormal situa-tion when the models fail.In this paper,we explore a simplified method for quantifying both aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty in deterministic network.,called SAEU.In SAEU,Multivariate Gaussian distribution is employed in the deep architecture to compensate for the shortcomings of complexity and applicability of Bayesian neural network..Based on the SAEU,we propose a unified uncertainty-aware deep learning framework.UU-DLF)to realize the grand vision of trustworthy fault diagnosis.Moreover,our UU-DLF effectively embodies the idea of“humans in the loop”,which not only allows for manual intervention in abnor-mal situations of diagnostic models,but also mak.s correspond-ing improvements on existing models based on traceability analy-sis.Finally,two experiments conducted on the gearbox and aero-engine bevel gears are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of UU-DLF and explore the effective reasons behind.

Constructing on-demand single/multi-color transitioning fabrics with photocatalysis/photothermal-armed deficient semiconductors

On-demand color switching systems that utilize synchronized semiconductor-catalyzed reduction and photothermal-accelerated oxidation in liquid/solid are highly appealing.Herein,on-demand single/multi-color switching fabrics have been constructed by using defective SnO_(2):Sb-based color switching systems.SnO_(2):Sb nanocrystals with the suitable doping concentration accord lattices with abundant free electrons,conferring high photocatalytic and photothermal performances.A well-crafted set of dual light-responsive semiconductor-catalyzed systems with rapid color change can be attained via the homogenous mixture of SnO_(2):Sb with suitable redox dyes to produce single-color(RGB(red,green,blue))and multi-color transitioning(purple and green)systems.The illumination of these systems by 450 nm light triggers rapid photocatalytic discoloration,while irradiation by 980 nm light confers the photothermal effect that accelerates recoloration in air.Besides,the ink. can be extended to rewritable fabrics by embedding the nanocrystals and redox dyes into hydroxyethyl cellulose(as the polymer matrix)and then coating on hydrophobic cotton fabrics to produce photo-switchable fabrics with excellent single/multi-color response.By exploiting the dual light interactions with the semiconductor-mediated systems,various images/letters can be remotely printed and erased on the rewritable fabrics which show promise for potential applications as information storage media and visual sensors.Importantly,the present rewritable fabric shows good stability and reversibility.The present work.provides insights into the development of novel color-switching materials.

Approaching the theoretical capacity of TiO_(2) anode in a photorechargeable lithium-ion battery

New generation of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)integrating solar energy conversion and storage is emerging,as they could solve the fluctuation problem in the utilization of solar energy.Photo-rechargeable lithium-ion batteries(PR-LIBs)are ideal devices for such target,in which solar energy is converted into electricity and stored in LIB.In order to achieve the high performance of PR-LIB,it is crucial to develop dual-function electrode materials that can synergistically capture solar energy and store lithium.Herein,we present photo-rechargeable lithium-ion batteries using defective black.TiO_(2) as photoanode prepared by lithium reduction.The photoanode exhibits excellent photo response in full solar spectrum with a capacity enhancement of 46.4%under illumination,corresponding to the energy conversion efficiency of 4.4%at the current density of 1 A·g^(-1).When illumination is applied at 20 mA·g^(-1),the battery capacity increases from~230 in dark.to~349 mAh·g^(-1) at the first cycle,and then stabilizes at 310 mAh·g^(-1),approaching the theoretical value of 335 mAh·g^(-1) of TiO_(2) electrode material.This finding provides thoughts for break.ng the capacity limitations in TiO_(2) and paves the way for powering LIBs by solar illumination.

To ensure the correctness of train control system design and development,the ways of simulation,test and formalization were compared.According to the safe critical attribute of train control system,the characters related to system safety were propounded such as real time,hybrid,distribution(concurrence)and reactivity,and the specific formal methods associated with every character were introduced in details.The analysis and classification of the methods were done based on their mathematical basis and applications,and their advantages and disadvantages were given.Analysis result indicates that every method has determinate limitations,which is determined by the essences of model check.ng and theory proving.It is pointed out that the presentation of new method,the expansion of existing methods and the integration of many methods will be the development trend of formalization in train control system.

Study on metal recovery process and k.netics of oxidative leaching from spent LiFePO_(4)Li-batteries

A green environmental protection and enhanced leaching process was proposed to recover all elements from spent lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO_(4)) lithium batteries.In order to reduce the influence of Al impurity in the recovery process,NaOH was used to remove impurity.After impurity removal,the spent LiFePO_(4) cathode material was used as raw material under the H_(2)SO_(4) system,and the pressure oxidation leaching process was adopted to achieve the preferential leaching of lithium.The E-pH diagram of the Fe-P-Al-H_(2)O system can determine the stable region of each element in the recovery process of spent LiFePO_(4)Li-batteries.Under the optimal conditions(500 r·min^(-1),15 h,363.15 k.0.4 MPa,the liquid-solid ratio was 4:1 ml·g^(-1)and the acid-material ratio was 0.29),the leaching rate of Li was 99.24%,Fe,Al,and Ti were 0.10%,2.07%,and 0.03%,respectively.The Fe and P were precipitated and recovered as FePO_(4)·2H_(2)O.The k.netic analysis shows that the process of high-pressure acid leaching of spent LiFePO_(4) materials depends on the surface chemical reaction.Through the life cycle assessment(LCA)of the spent LiFePO_(4) whole recovery process,eight midpoint impact categories were selected to assess the impact of recovery process.The results can provide basic environmental information on production process for recycling industry.

Effects of surface morphology on tribological properties of Arapaima gigas scales

The remark.ble mechanical adaptability of arapaima(Arapaima gigas)scales has made them an important subject of study.However,no research has been conducted into their tribological properties,which are crucial for the protectability and flexibility of arapaimas.In this study,by combining morphological characterizations,friction experiments,and theoretical analyses,the relationship between the surface morphology and tribological properties of arapaima scales is determined.These results indicate that arapaima scales exhibit varying surface morphologies in different regions.More specifically,the exposed regions of scales feature grooves and a circulus,whereas the covered regions exhibit bumps.The specific surface morphology of arapaima scales produces varying tribological properties across different regions and sliding directions.The unique tribological properties of arapaima scales influence the forces received from predator attack. and neighboring scales,directly influencing the arapaima’s protective capabilities.This study provides new insights into the mechanisms of natural flexible dermal armors,and it has potential applications in personal protective systems.

One-year results for myopia control of orthok.ratology with different back.optic zone diameters: a randomized trial using a novel multispectral-based topographer

AIM:To present the 1-year results of a prospective cohort study investigating the efficacy,potential mechanism,and safety of orthok.ratology(ortho-k.with different back.optic zone diameters(BOZD)for myopia control in children.METHODS:This randomized clinical study was performed between Dec.2020 and Dec.2021.Participants were randomly assigned to three groups wearing ortho-k.5 mm BOZD(5-MM group),5.5 mm BOZD(5.5-MM group),and 6 mm BOZD(6-MM group).The 1-year data were recorded,including axial length,relative peripheral refraction(RPR,measured by multispectral refractive topography,MRT),and visual quality.The contrast sensitivity(CS)was evaluated by CSV-1000 instrument with spatial frequencies of 3,6,12,and 18 cycles/degree(c/d);the corneal higher-order aberrations(HOAs)were measured by iTrace aberration analyzer.The one-way ANOVA was performed to assess the differences between the three groups.The correlation between the change in AL and RPR was calculated by Pearson’s correlation coefficient.RESULTS:The 1-year results of 20,21,and 21 subjects in the 5-MM,5.5-MM,and 6-MM groups,respectively,were presented.There were no statistical differences in baseline age,sex,or ocular parameters between the three groups(all P>0.05).At the 1-year visit,the 5-MM group had lower axial elongation than the 6-MM group(0.07±0.09 vs 0.18±0.11 mm,P=0.001).The 5-MM group had more myopic total RPR(TRPR,P=0.014),with RPR in the 15°–30°(RPR 15–30,P=0.015),30°–45°(RPR 30–45,P=0.011),temporal(RPR-T,P=0.008),and nasal area(RPR-N,Pk.with 5 mm BOZD can control myopia

IL-17 induces NSCLC cell migration and invasion by elevating MMP19 gene transcription and expression through the interaction of p300-dependent STAT3-k.31 acetylation and its Y705-phosphorylation

The cancer cell metastasis is a major death reason for patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Although researchers have disclosed that interleuk.n 17(IL-17)can increase matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs)induction causing NSCLC cell metastasis,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.In the study,we found that IL-17 receptor A(IL-17RA),p300,p-STAT3,Ack.STAT3,and MMP19 were up-regulated both in NSCLC tissues and NSCLC cells stimulated with IL-17.p300,STAT3 and MMP19 overexpression or k.ock.own could raise or reduce IL-17-induced p-STAT3,Ack.STAT3 and MMP19 level as well as the cell migration and invasion.Mechanism investigation revealed that STAT3 and p300 bound to the same region(−544 to−389 nt)of MMP19 promoter,and p300 could acetylate STAT3-k.31 elevating STAT3 transcriptional activity,p-STAT3 or MMP19 expression and the cell mobility exposed to IL-17.Meanwhile,p300-mediated STAT3-k.31 acetylation and its Y705-phosphorylation could interact,synergistically facilitating MMP19 gene transcription and enhancing cell migration and invasion.Besides,the animal experiments exhibited that the nude mice inoculated with NSCLC cells by silencing p300,STAT3 or MMP19 gene plus IL-17 treatment,the nodule number,and MMP19,Ack.STAT3,or p-STAT3 production in the lung metastatic nodules were all alleviated.Collectively,these outcomes uncover that IL-17-triggered NSCLC metastasis involves up-regulating MMP19 expression via the interaction of STAT3-k.31 acetylation by p300 and its Y705-phosphorylation,which provides a new mechanistic insight and potential strategy for NSCLC metastasis and therapy.
