A Cognitive Memory-Augmented Network for Visual Anomaly Detection

With the rapid development of automated visual analysis,visual analysis systems have become a popular research topic in the field of computer vision and automated *** analysis systems can assist humans to detect anomalous events(e.g.,fighting,walking alone on the grass,etc).In general,the existing methods for visual anomaly detection are usually based on an autoencoder architecture,i.e.,reconstructing the current frame or predicting the future ***,the reconstruction error is adopted as the evaluation metric to identify whether an input is abnormal or *** flaws of the existing methods are that abnormal samples can also be reconstructed *** this paper,inspired by the human memory ability,we propose a novel deep neural network(DNN)based model termed cognitive memory-augmented network(CMAN)for the visual anomaly detection *** proposed CMAN model assumes that the visual analysis system imitates humans to remember normal samples and then distinguishes abnormal events from the collected ***,in the proposed CMAN model,we introduce a memory module that is able to simulate the memory capacity of humans and a density estimation network that can learn the data *** reconstruction errors and the novelty scores are used to distinguish abnormal events from *** addition,we develop a two-step scheme to train the proposed model so that the proposed memory module and the density estimation network can cooperate to improve *** experiments evaluated on various popular benchmarks show the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed CMAN model for visual anomaly detection comparing with the state-of-the-arts *** implementation code of our CMAN method can be accessed at https://***/CMANcode/CMAN_pytorch.

Transforming waste particles into valuable adsorbents via amyloid-mediated molecular engineering

The high-value utilization of industrial solid waste using a facile and eco-friendly process is of great interest and significance in reducing environmental pollution and developing a green circular economy. Herein, we propose an amyloid-mediated molecular engineering strategy to transform particulate waste into valuable adsorbents for metal ions. Our method has the advantage of aqueous solution fabrication under mild conditions without the use of high-temperature hydrothermal methods and toxic chemical reagents. Amyloid-mediated molecular engineering manipulates the phase transition of bovine serum albumin(BSA)on particulate waste surfaces, resulting in a remarkable ～3.1 times improvement in the adsorption capacity of fly ash, a typical industrial solid waste for gold ions after modification with the phase-transitioned BSA(PTB). The resultant adsorption ability was 69–1,980 times higher than those of conventional and emerging adsorbent materials such as ion exchange resins, activated carbon(AC), covalent organic frameworks(COFs), and metal-organic frameworks(MOFs). We further demonstrated the application of our PTB-modified materials in the recovery of precious metals from low-grade gold ore and electronic waste leachates. Consequently, this strategy could increase the value of waste materials nearly 27 times. In addition, this method is generally extendable to other conventional industrial adsorbents such as resin, clay, and Al2O3, and enhances their adsorption capabilities at least twofold. Overall, this work provides a simple and green approach for improving the adsorption performance of solid particles, and is expected to develop into a universal strategy for transforming waste particles into high-value-added products.

In recent years,sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have been considered as one of the most promising alternatives to lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).Here,a new Na-super-ionic conductor(NASICON)cathode material Na Fe_(2)PO_(4)(SO_(4))_(2)is successfully prepared through solid state method for *** the poor electronic conductivity of iron-based materials results in its poor rate and cycle *** the electrochemical is effectively promoting via Ca^(2+)***_(0.84)Ca_(0.08)Fe_(2)PO_(4)(SO_(4))_(2)have achieved considerable electrochemical *** first discharge specific capacity is 121.6 m A h g^(-1)at 25 m A g^(-1)with the voltage platform(-3.1 V)corresponding to Fe^(2+/3+).After 100 cycles,the capacity retention is 55.1%.The excellent electrochemical performance is caused by some Na^(+)is substituted by Ca^(2+)and leading to the fast sodium kinetics,which is well proved by the powder X-ray diffraction pattern and well corresponding to the galvanostatic intermittent titration technique and cyclic voltammetry testing result(the diffusivity values are around at 10^(-12)cm^(2)s^(-1)).

Ionosphere correction algorithm for spaceborne SAR imaging

For spaceborne synthetic aperture radar （SAR） imaging,the dispersive ionosphere has significant effects on the propagationof the low frequency （especially P-band） radar signal. Theionospheric effects can be a significant source of the phase error inthe radar signal, which causes a degeneration of the image qualityin spaceborne SAR imaging system. The background ionosphericeffects on spaceborne SAR through modeling and simulation areanalyzed, and the qualitative and quantitative analysis based onthe spatio-temporal variability of the ionosphere is given. A novelionosphere correction algorithm （ICA） is proposed to deal with theionospheric effects on the low frequency spaceborne SAR radarsignal. With the proposed algorithm, the degradation of the imagequality caused by the ionosphere is corrected. The simulation resultsshow the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

C^1 conforming quadrilateral finite elements with complete secondorder derivatives on vertices and its application to Kirchhoff plates

The classical problem of the construction of C^1 conforming single-patch quadrilateral finite elements has been solved in this investigation by using the blending function interpolation *** order to achieve the C^1 conformity on the interfaces of quadrilateral elements,complete second-order derivatives are used at the element vertices,and the information of geometrical mapping is also considered into the construction of shape *** is found that the shape functions and the polynomial spaces of the present elements vary with element ***,the developed quadrilateral elements are at least third order for general quadrilateral shapes and fifth order for rectangular ***,very fast convergence can be achieved.A promising feature of the present elements is that they can be used in cooperation with those high-precision rectangular and triangular *** the present elements are over conforming on element vertices,an approach for handling problems of material discontinuity is also *** examples of Kirchhoff plates are employed to demonstrate the computational performance of the present elements.

Particle deposition patterns on high-pressure turbine vanes with aggressive inlet swirl

Characteristics of particle migration and deposition were numerically investigated in presence of aggressive swirl at the turbine *** isolated effects of the inlet swirl were considered in detail by shifting the circumferential position of the swirl and by implementing positive and negative swirling *** were released from the turbine inlet and the resulting deposition on the vanes was determined by using the critical velocity model in a range of particle diameters from 1 to 25 *** show that the particles are more likely to move outwards to the boundary walls of the passage by the action of the swirling ***,this could be relieved by increasing the particle *** imbalance problem of the deposition is found between the adjacent vanes,which could introduce additional inlet non-uniformities towards the downstream rotor and thus accelerate performance degradation of the turbine ***,the negative swirl case has higher overall capture efficiency within the entire turbine than the positive swirl case for larger particles,and when the inlet swirl is shifted to the mid-passage of the turbine,more deposits could be produced in comparison with the case in which the swirl aims at the vane leading edge.

Effects of the surface chemistry of macroreticular adsorbents on the adsorption of 1-naphthol/1-naphthylamine mixtures from water

The adsorption behaviors of 1-naphthol, 1-naphthylamine and l-naphthol/l-naphthylamine mixtures in water over two macroreticular adsorbents were investigated in single or binary batch systems at 293 K, 303 K and 313 K respectively. All the adsorption isotherms in the studied systems can be adequately fitted by Langmuir model. In the case of aminated macroreticular adsorbent NDA103, 1-naphthol is adsorbed to a larger extent than 1-naphthylamine; while, the opposite trend is found for nonpolar macroreticular adsorbent NDA100. It is noteworthy that at higher temperature（303 K and 313 K）, the total uptake amounts of 1-naphthol and 1-naphthylamine in all binary-component systems are obvious larger than the pure uptake amounts in single-component systems, which is presumably due to the cooperative effect primarily arisen from the hydrogen-bonding interaction between the loaded 1-naphthol and 1-naphthylamine molecules. The simultaneous adsorption systems were confirmed to be helpful to the selective adsorption towards 1-naphthol according to the larger selective index.

Impact of the Political Risk on Food Reserve Ratio:Evidence Across Countries

Using an unbalanced panel data covering 75 countries from 1991 to 2019,the authors explore how the political risk impacts on food reserve *** empirical findings show that an increasing political risk negatively affects food reserve ratio,and the same effects hold for both internal risk and external ***,the authors find that the increasing external or internal risks both negatively affect food production and food exports,but external risk does not significantly impact food imports and it positively impacts food consumption,while internal risk negatively impacts food imports and food *** results suggest that most governments have difficulty raising subsequent food reserve ratios in face of an increasing political risk,no matter if it is an internal risk or an external risk although the mechanisms behind the impacts are different.

Urban Redevelopment, Gentrification and Gentrifiers in Post-reform Inland China: A Case Study of Chengdu, China

Since its process evolved in recent years, the definition of gentrification has expanded to cover different forms of social upgrading, new spaces and new actors around the world. Studies on gentrification in Chinese cities began to take off in the 2000 s. However, they all mainly focused on the newly emerging global cities and there has been a lack of investigation on provincial cities. Furthermore, discussions on gentrifiers′ profiles and their motivations for housing choice are absent from literature on Chinese gentrification. Therefore, this paper aims to assess the relevance of the broad definition of gentrification in provincial Chinese cities through empirical research on urban redevelopment projects in Chengdu, and to examine the characteristics of gentrifiers(as new incoming residents) in it. The results show the rationality of gentrification processes as urban redevelopment in Chengdu, and reveal original outcomes on the corresponding gentrifiers′ profiles and the motivations behind their housing choice, which are different from the general features of gentrifiers in standard Western gentrification research.

Diastereoselective alkylation reactions employing a new camphor-based 2-phenylimino-2-oxazolidine chiral auxiliary

A new camphor-based 2-phenylimino-2-oxazolidine chiral auxiliary was prepared and it was shown to be a particularly effective chiral auxiliary for asymmetric alkylations affording high yields and diastereoselectivities. The alkylation products were readily cleaved by simple alkaline hydrolysis to give a-alkylated carboxylic acids in good yield and in almost enatiomerically pure form.
