An advanced cathode composite for co-utilization of cations and anions in lithium batteries

Anions in the electrolyte are usually ignored in conventional"rocking-chair"batteries because only cationic de-/intercalation is *** ingenious scheme combining LiMn_(0.7)Fe_(0.3)PO_(4)(LMFP@C)and graphite as a hybrid cathode for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is elaborately designed in order to exploit the potential value of anions for battery *** hybrid cathode has a higher conductivity and energy density than any of the individual components,allowing for the co-utilization of cations and an-ions through the de-/intercalation of Li^(+)and PF_(6)−over a wide voltage *** optimal compound with a weight mix ratio of LMFP@C:graphite=5:1 can deliver the highest specific capacity of nearly 140 mA h/g at 0.1 C and the highest voltage plateau of around 4.95 V by adjusting the appropriate mixing *** addition,cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the electrode kinetics of Li^(+)and PF_(6)−dif-fusion in the hybrid compound at various scan *** situ X-ray diffraction is also performed to further demonstrate the structural evolution of the hybrid cathode during the charge/discharge process.

SP3-Hybridization Feature of Ag4 Superatom in Superatomic Molecules

Analogous to atoms, superatoms can be used as building blocks to compose molecules and materials. To demonstrate this idea, the possibility of using tetrahedral Ag4 cluster to form a series of superatomic molecules Ag4X4 (X=H, Li, Na, K, Cu, Ag, Au and F, Cl, Br) is discussed. Based on the super valence bond model, a tetrahedral Ag4 cluster can be viewed as a 4-electron superatom, which can mimic a sp3 hybridization C atom. By comparison of the representative superatomic molecules Ag4X4 (X=Au, Cl) with the corresponding simple molecules CX4 (X=H, Cl), the similarities in terms of chemical bonding patterns and molecular orbitals (MOs) are conspicuous. Energy calculations predict that the Ag4 superatom can bind with all the involved ligands. Furthermore, the stabilities of superatomic molecules are enhanced by the large gaps of the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO gaps) and high aromaticity. Our studies may find applications in assembling materials with superatoms.

Nonlinear density fluctuation field theory for large scale structure

We develop an effective field theory of density fluctuations for a Newtonian self-gravitating N-body system in quasi-equilibrium and apply it to a homogeneous universe with small density fluctuations. Keeping the density fluctuations up to second or- der, we obtain the nonlinear field equation of 2-pt correlation ξ（r）, which contains 3-pt correlation and formal ultra-violet divergences. By the Groth-Peebles hierarchical ansatz and mass renormalization, the equation becomes closed with two new terms beyond the Gaussian approximation, and their coefficients are taken as parameters. The analytic solution is obtained in terms of the hypergeometric functions, which is checked numerically. With one single set of two fixed parameters, the correlation ξ（r） and the corresponding power spectrum P（k） simultaneously match the results from all the major surveys, such as APM, SDSS, 2dfGRS, and REFLEX. The model gives a unifying understanding of several seemingly unrelated features of large scale structure from a field-theoretical perspective. The theory is worth extending to study the evolution effects in an expanding universe.

Disorder driven superconductor-insulator transition in inhomogenous d-wave superconductor

We study the effect of disorder on the superconductor-insulator transition in an inhomogeneous d-wave superconductor using the kernel polynomial method. As the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations of the two-dimensional square lattice are solved self-consistently for the cases with more than 100000 unit cells, it is possible to observe the spatial fluctuations of the superconducting order parameters at the nanoscale. We find that strong spatial fluctuation of the superconducting order parameters can be introduced by disorder, and some superconducting specific order parameters are even enhanced. Moreover, we find that some isolated superconducting "islands" can survive the strong disorder, giving a boson insulator with some localized Cooper pairs. Our numerical calculations predict the existence of two sequential transitions with the increasing disorder strength: a d-wave to s-wave superconductor transition, and then an s-wave superconductor to insulator transition. The possibility of the appearance of a metallic phase between the superconducting and insulating phases is excluded by performing the lattice-size scaling of the generalized inverse participation ratio. In addition, we also discuss the effect of disorder on the optical conductivity of the d-wave superconductors.

A new Middle Jurassic tracksite dominated by non-avian theropod footprints from the Wangjiashan Formation in Pingchuan District,Baojishan Basin,Gansu Province has yielded a unique trackway with four consecutive manus-pes *** three previous examples,all Early Jurassic in age,of theropod trackways are known with convincing examples of manus tracks and in each case,only two tracks were recorded in association with pes tracks with metatarsal impressions and pelvic traces indicating crouching ***,this is the first example of manus tracks registered while a theropod trackmaker was *** unique configuration is here designated as Grallator pingchuanensis *** shows the trackmaker forelimbs registering in a wide straddle gait,much wider than the pes trackway *** confirms previous reports that theropods could occasionally register tridactyl,ectaxonic manus *** the case of the Pingchuan trackway,the short step indicates an animal moving at a slow speed,probably due to a soft substrate.

Sensitivity analysis for axis rotation diagrid structural systems according to brace angle changes

General regular shaped diagrid structures can express diverse shapes because braces are installed along the exterior faces of the structures and the structures have no columns. However, since irregular shaped structures have diverse variables, studies to assess behaviors resulting from various variables are continuously required to supplement the imperfections related to such variables. In the present study, materials elastic modulus and yield strength were selected as variables for strength that would be applied to diagrid structural systems in the form of Twisters among the irregular shaped buildings classified by Vollers and that affect the structural design of these structural systems. The purpose of this study is to conduct sensitivity analysis for axial rotation diagrid structural systems according to changes in brace angles in order to identify the design variables that have relatively larger effects and the tendencies of the sensitivity of the structures according to changes in brace angles and axial rotation angles.
