Conductive carbon structure has been considered as a promising sulfur-hosting material as the cathode of lithium-sulfur batteries.However, the issue of polysulfide shuttling requires an additional component to help restrict and convert sulfur substances.Herein, in this work, hollow and porous carbon nanospheres(HCS) are synthesized by a template method and a high-temperature carbonization treatment. A thin layer of ZnS coating is then deposited on the HCS-based sulfur(ZnS@HCS/S) cathode with controlled thickness, and the overall electrochemical properties are systematically evaluated. Results show that with 30 nm-thick ZnS coating, the cathode reveals an improved capacity of 1411 m A h g^(-1), and higher capacities from 0.2 to 3 C rate compared with bare HCS/S cathode. Moreover, the ZnS coating also enhances the cycling stability of ZnS@HCS/S cathode over 280 cycles at 0.5 C, with only 0.2% capacity decay per cycle. This work demonstrates potential applications for high-performance lithiumsulfur batteries.

For a water supply system with long-distance diversion pipelines, in addition to the water hammer problems that occur beyond pumps, the safety of the water diversion pipeline in front of pumps also deserves attention. In this study, a water hammer protection scheme combined with an overflow surge tank and a regulating valve was developed. A mathematical model of the overflow surge tank was developed, and an analytical formula for the height of the overflow surge tank was derived. Furthermore, a practical water supply project was used to evaluate the feasibility of the combined protection scheme and analyze the sensitivity of valve regulation rules. The results showed that the combined protection scheme effectively reduced the height of the surge tank, lessened the difficulties related to construction, and reduced the necessary financial investment for the project. The two-stage closing rule articulated as fast first and then slow could minimize the overflow volume of the surge tank when the power failure occurred, while the two-stage opening rule articulated as slow first and then fast could be more conducive to the safety of the water supply system when the pump started up.

From Rybicki’s analysis using the Fourier slice theorem,mathematically it is possible to reproduce uniquely an edge-on axisymmetric galaxy’s 3D light distribution from its 2D surface brightness.Utilizing galaxies from a cosmological simulation,we examine the ability of Syer and Tremaine’s madeto-measure method and Schwarzschild’s method for stellar dynamical modeling to do so for edge-on oblate axisymmetric galaxies.Overall,we find that the methods do not accurately recover the 3D distributions,with the made-to-measure method producing more accurate estimates than Schwarzschild’s method.Our results have implications broader than just luminosity density,and affect other luminosity-weighted distributions within galaxies,for example,age and metallicity.

Background:The effectiveness and safety of marginal donor livers remain controversial.This study aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy of marginal donor livers in patients with liver transplantation(LT).Methods:This study included 199 liver donors(including 16 split donors)and 206 liver recipients from January 1,2018 to January 27,2020,with case follow-up until July 31,2021.Clinical data of donors and recipients were retrospectively analyzed and were divided into the marginal donor and standard donor groups according to the criteria of marginal donor livers.Indices of liver and kidney functions,complications,and survival curves of the two groups were compared.Results:Compared with the standard donor group,the blood creatinine levels were significantly higher in the marginal donor group in the first week after operation(P0.05);there was no significant difference in the incidence of complications after LT(P>0.05);there was also no significant difference in the survival curve(P=0.335).Conclusions:There were no significant differences in liver and kidney function and survival curve between the standard donor and marginal donor groups.The marginal donor liver appears safe and reliable for LT and may be an important strategy to expand the donor pool and solve the shortage of organs.

智媒时代文化传播的发生逻辑不同于整体宣传模式和网络传播模式,它以社会成员普遍的文化参与为基础,通过计算方法的应用,更好地实现文化传播的公共价值,避免外部主体和组织对传播过程的控制和塑造。如何更好地推动文化传播公共性的实现,需积极探索新技术应用于文化传播的要素建设,尤其是其核心要素构成--文化特质与文化符号。对于文化特质的发掘而言,计算方法在议题设置、内容生产、智慧交互等方面能够更好地实现文化特质的发掘;对于文化符号的描绘而言,它与文化特质的发掘处于同一基础之上,计算方法有助于文化符号设计、传播轨迹描述和符号体系建设。建立在计算逻辑基础上的智媒时代的文化传播,融合了主体文化行为和文化传播的整体图景,具备自我学习的能力,不断实现对内整合与对外交流。

Ischemic stroke can cause blood-brain barrier(BBB)injury,which worsens brain damage induced by stroke.Abnormal expression of tight junction proteins in endothelial cells(ECs)can increase intracellular space and BBB leakage.Selective inhibition of mitogen-activated protein kinase,the negative regulatory substrate of mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase(MKP)-1,improves tight junction protein function in ECs,and genetic deletion of MKP-1 aggravates ischemic brain injury.However,whether the latter affects BBB integrity,and the cell type-specific mechanism underlying this process,remain unclear.In this study,we established an adult male mouse model of ischemic stroke by occluding the middle cerebral artery for 60 minutes and overexpressed MKP-1 in ECs on the injured side via lentiviral transfection before stroke.We found that overexpression of MKP-1 in ECs reduced infarct volume,reduced the level of inflammatory factors interleukin-1β,interleukin-6,and chemokine C-C motif ligand-2,inhibited vascular injury,and promoted the recovery of sensorimotor and memory/cognitive function.Overexpression of MKP-1 in ECs also inhibited the activation of cerebral ischemia-induced extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)1/2 and the downregulation of occludin expression.Finally,to investigate the mechanism by which MKP-1 exerted these functions in ECs,we established an ischemic stroke model in vitro by depriving the primary endothelial cell of oxygen and glucose,and pharmacologically inhibited the activity of MKP-1 and ERK1/2.Our findings suggest that MKP-1 inhibition aggravates oxygen and glucose deprivation-induced cell death,cell monolayer leakage,and downregulation of occludin expression,and that inhibiting ERK1/2 can reverse these effects.In addition,co-inhibition of MKP-1 and ERK1/2 exhibited similar effects to inhibition of ERK1/2.These findings suggest that overexpression of MKP-1 in ECs can prevent ischemia-induced occludin downregulation and cell death via deactivating ERK1/2,thereby protecting the integrity of BBB

Discussion is a common and important learning process.Involvement of a virtual agent can provide adaptive support for the discussion process.Argumen-tative knowledge construction is beneficial to learners’acquisition of knowledge,but the effectiveness of argumentative scaffolding in existing studies is not consistent.Based on an intelligent discussion system,a total of 47 undergraduate students took part in the experiment and they were assigned to three different conditions:content-related plus content-independent scaffolding condition,content-related scaffolding condition,and the control condition.Under the content-related and content-independent scaffolding condition,the computer agent provided an idea from semantically different categories(content-related scaffolding)according to the automatic categorization of the current contributions,and further inquired the participants about their attitudes and reasons(content-independent scaffolding).Under the condition of content-related scaffolding condition,the virtual agent only provided semantically different viewpoints.Under the control condition,the subjects expressed their opinion independently without the participation of the virtual agent.Findings revealed that compared with the control group,when the virtual agent provided semantically different ideas(content-related scaffolding),the discussion breadth(number of categories)was improved and the subjects felt that they had a more comprehensive understanding of the problem.Compared with the content-related scaffolding condition,when the virtual agent provided semantically different ideas and further asked about the attitudes and reasons,the subjects expressed more agreement with these views,but mentioned fewer categories during the discussion.This study suggests that the content-related scaffolding can facilitate the cognitive processing effect relevant to the topic of discussion.When the content independent scaffolding is added,it can promote the argumentative processing,but may have a negative effect on the cog
