This study is based on country level determinants of liT between China and Sri Lanka. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data in this study. Determinants of IIT from Sri Lanka to China do not depend upon economic growth rate, per capita income and size of GDP. However, variables like index of openness, size of the economy, per capita income, size of GDP, factor endowment, foreign direct investments have positive impact on IIT from Sri Lanka to China. Economic growth rate, index of openness, size of the economy, factor endowment, foreign direct investments were found to be positively related with intensity of IIT from China to Sri Lanka.

In this paper, we provide a method based on quantiles to estimate the parameters of a finite mixture of Fréchet distributions, for a large sample of strongly dependent data. This is a situation that appears when dealing with environmental data and there was a real need of such method. We validate our approach by means of estimation and goodness-of-fit testing over simulated data, showing an accurate performance.

We present a novel method to analyze extreme events of flows over manifolds called Peaks Over Manifold (POM). Here we show that under general and realistic hypotheses, the distribution of affectation measures converges to a Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD). The method is applicable to floods, ice cover extent, extreme rainfall or marine heatwaves. We present an application to a synthetic data set on tide height and to real ice cover data in Antartica.

Background: Hypothyroidism has multiple etiologies and manifestation where accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment is required and is in?uenced by coexisting medical conditions. This paper describes evidence-based clinical causes and indications. Objective: The objective is to review the clinical effect of hypothyroidism in different selected aspects and summarize the potential evidence about relationship between subclinical hypothyroidism with cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, insulin resistance and mortality. Data Sources: A systematic review was conducted by searching English-language articles identified from 23 databases and search engines, yielding over 1000 documents. Study Selection: They are reports on the effects of hypothyroidism versus euthyroidism on obesity, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease and mortality. Data Extraction: Data from research articles on hypothyroidism including subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) and overt hypothyroidism, insulin resistance including diabetes mellitus and risk for coronary heart disease (CHD) including metabolic syndrome were independently assessed and summarized. Data Synthesis: Twelve of twenty-nine identified studies involved population-based cohorts, case controls and retrospective studies that included 4306 subjects. All 13 studies examined risks associated with subclinical hypothyroidism with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and prevalence rates of SCH in T2DM patients ranged from 4.69% to 64.28% in the 12 included studies. Moreover, 4 studies out of the above 12 studies have revealed insulin resistance in the participants. Another population-based 12 studies have been carried out to assess hypothyroidism-related cardiac manifestation and according to the given data, average prevalence of CHD in hypothyroid participants is 25.20 (vary from 3.73 to 47.14) and it is 13.90 in euthyroid participants (vary from 1.17 to 38.49). In this article we improve a goodness-of-fit test, of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov type, for equally distributed- but not stationary-strongly dependent data. The test is based on the asymptotic behavior of the empirical process, which is much more complex than in the classical case. Applications to simulated data and discussion of the obtained results are provided. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first result providing a general goodness of fit test for non-weakly dependent data.

In this work we study virtual social networks known as Facebook. It is used by millions of people worldwide, gathering a combination of virtual elements and real world components. We suggest a probabilistic model to describe the long-term behavior of Facebook. This model includes different friendship connection between profiles, directly or by suggestion. Due to web’s high interactivity level, we simplify the model assuming Markovian dynamic. After the model is established we propose Complete Transversality (CT) communication concept. CT describes people interaction that reflects profile behaviour and leads to estimators that measure this interaction. Then we introduce a weakness version of CT named Segmental Transversality (ST). Within this framework we develop estimators that allow hypothesis testing of CT and ST. And then, in ST context we propose performance measures to address a priori segmentation’s quality.

At present,Sri Lanka is home to about 5,000-6,000 wild elephants roaming over close to 70%of the country’s *** this blessing,around 150 elephants die each year due to many *** main reasons for the altercations between humans and elephants are the drastic increase in the human population,human encroachment upon elephant territory for agriculture and settlements and unplanned development and transportation *** are long lived herbivores,and their survival depends upon regular migration over large distances to search for food,water,and social and reproductive *** to the Sri Lanka railways the average number of elephants that get killed due to elephant-railway accidents is about 9 per *** a solution for this problem,we have proposed a novel system to pass a signal to indicate the train *** proposed system detects the vibration of the locomotives and after detecting the vibration,alarm system will generate a high frequency signal within the frequency range,where the elephants are *** proposed system is a low cost device and this can be placed anywhere at any ***,this project aims to protect elephants from being harmed which usually happen due to various human activities.

Many models have been developed in the world to estimate emission inventories and fuel consumption in the past and those models can be broadly categorized as either a travel based model or a fuel based model. Driving cycles can be considered as one of the major travel based models to estimate emission inventories. It can be used for various purposes such as setting up the emission standards, for traffic management purposes and also to determine the travel time. In the past, researchers have tried to use readily available, well established driving cycles in their environment which is different from the origin of the driving cycle in many aspects. Thus, the attempts have failed to give good quality results. This study attempts to critically evaluate the different methods used for driving cycle construction in different parts of the world under various conditions to propose a general suitable approach to develop a representative and economical driving cycle(s) for a given geographic location for set objectives.
