Semiconductor device technology has greatly developed in complexity since discovering the bipolar *** this work,we developed a computational pipeline to discover stable semiconductors by combining generative adversarial networks(GAN),classifiers,and high-throughput first-principles *** used CubicGAN,a GAN-based algorithm for generating cubic materials and developed a classifier to screen the semiconductors and studied their stability using first *** found 12 stable AA′MH_(6)semiconductors in the F-43m space group including BaNaRhH_(6),BaSrZnH_(6),BaCsAlH_(6),SrTlIrH_(6),KNaNiH_(6),NaYRuH_(6),CsKSiH_(6),CaScMnH_(6),YZnMnH_(6),NaZrMnH_(6),AgZrMnH_(6),and ScZnMnH_(6).Previous research reported that five AA′IrH_(6)semiconductors with the same space group were *** research shows that AA′MnH_(6)and NaYRuH_(6)semiconductors have considerably different properties compared to the rest of the AA′MH_(6)*** on the accurate hybrid functional calculations,AA′MH_(6)semiconductors are found to be wide-bandgap ***,BaSrZnH_(6)and KNaNiH_(6)are direct-bandgap semiconductors,whereas others exhibit indirect bandgaps.

Background: We investigated the impact of human recreational disturbances on the distribution of birds along a popular nature trail in Sinhararja World Heritage Forest, Sri Lanka. It was hypothesized that visual and noise stimuli caused by the presence of humans affect the distribution of avifauna associated with this nature ***: Nine circular plots of 25 m fixed-radius laid along the trail(0 m), and 18 plots laid perpendicular to the trail at 75 and 150 m intervals, were studied from March 2013 to January 2014. The degree of human recreational disturbances was assessed in terms of visitor group size(visual disturbance) and their noise level(sound disturbance). These disturbances were categorized along a four-point scale(no human disturbance, low, medium and high disturbance). The relationship between disturbance levels and the abundance of birds was statistically ***: ANOVA results revealed that the abundance of birds differed significantly under various intensities of recreational disturbances at each distance level. A significant negative correlation between abundance of birds and intensity of disturbance at 0 m distance suggests an avoidance of edge habitats by birds in the presence of humans. Abundance of birds increased at the 75 and 150 m distance levels with increasing disturbances occurring at the trail. Significant negative correlations were further observed between disturbance level and the abundance of birds in ground/understory and sub-canopy vertical strata of the forest at 0 m ***: Under high levels of recreational disturbance occurring at this trail, the abundance of birds near the trail declined significantly, while bird abundance in the interior of the forest increased. The sensitivity of individual bird species to visitor disturbances varied with the vertical stratum of the forest they usually occupy. Birds occupying the ground, understory and sub-canopy are particularly sensitive to recreational disturbances

Objective: To review the management experience of a consecutive series of patients presenting as acute surgical abdomen whom were ultimately diagnosed to have DF(Dengue fever)/ DHF(Dengue heamorrhagic fever),Methods: Clinical data of all cases of apparent acute abdomen(AA) which were later confirmed as having DF/DHF reviewed by two surgical units from December 2012 to December 2013 were analyzed,Initially confirmed patients with DF/DHF who developed abdominal symptoms were not considered,Results: Out of the seventeen cases(7 males,age range 10-71 years) presented with fever and AA; appendicitis,cholecystitis,pancreatitis and non-specific peritonitis were suspected initially in 8,5,1 and 3 cases,respectively,Neutropenia or thrombocytopenia signifying DF/DHF occurred only in 11 patients at first evaluation thus six remained as surgical candidates beyond 24 h,One patient underwent appendicectomy with a prolonged hospital stay,DF was confirmed by serology in all patients,latest by fourth day of admission,One required blood product transfusion,4 needed critical care treatment and there was 1 death,Conclusions: DF/DHF misleads the clinicians when it presents as AA,Initial heamatological and ultrasonographic findings may be equivocal creating a diagnostic and management dilemma,Vigilant clinical suspicion and early dengue serological assessment is advisable in equivocal cases of AAs with fever in dengue endemic areas,to confirm/exclude the infection in order to avoid unnecessary surgical morbidity in the presence of DF.

Chemosensory proteins(CSPs)are soluble carrier proteins typically characterized by a six‐helix bundle structure joined by two disulfide bridges and a conserved Cys spacing pattern(C1‐X6‐8‐C2‐X16‐21‐C3‐X2‐C4).CSPs are functionally diverse with reported roles in chemosensation,immunity,development,and *** expand our molecular understanding of CSP function in plant bugs,we used recently developed transcriptomic resources for Lygus lineolaris and Lygus hesperus to identify 17 and 14 CSP‐like sequences,*** Lygus CSPs are orthologous and share significant sequence identity with previously annotated *** of the CSPs are predicted to deviate from the typical CSP structure with either five or seven helical segments rather than *** seven helix CSP is further differentiated by an atypical C3‐X3‐C4 Cys spacing *** transcriptase PCR‐based profiling of CSP transcript abundance in adult *** tissues revealed broad expression for most of the CSPs with antenna specific expression limited to a subset of the *** sequence analyses and homology modeling suggest that variations in the amino acids that comprise the Lygus CSP binding pockets affect the size and nature of the ligands accommodated.

In silico Analysis of osr40c1 Promoter Sequence Isolated from Indica Variety Pokkali

The promoter region of a drought and abscisic acid （ABA） inducible gene, osr40c1, was isolated from a salt-tolerant indica rice variety Pokkali, which is 670 bp upstream of the putative translation start codon. In silico promoter analysis of resulted sequence showed that at least 15 types of putative motifs were distributed within the sequence, including two types of common promoter elements, TATA and CAAT boxes. Additionally, several putative cis-acing regulatory elements which may be involved in regulation of osr40c1 expression under different conditions were found in the 5′-upstream region of osr40c1. These are ABA-responsive element, light-responsive elements （ATCT-motif, Box I, G-box, GT1-motif, Gap-box and Sp1）, myeloblastosis oncogene response element （CCAAT-box）, auxin responsive element （TGA-element）, gibberellin-responsive element （GARE-motif） and fungal-elicitor responsive elements （Box E and Box-W1）. A putative regulatory element, required for endosperm-specific pattern of gene expression designated as Skn-1 motif, was also detected in the Pokkali osr40c1 promoter region. In conclusion, the bioinformatic analysis of osr40c1 promoter region isolated from indica rice variety Pokkali led to the identification of several important stress-responsive cis-acting regulatory elements, and therefore, the isolated promoter sequence could be employed in rice genetic transformation to mediate expression of abiotic stress induced genes.

Electrical and electronic waste(e-waste)has become a global *** this ever-growing problem has become very critical and yet challenging,especially in the South Asian region;otherwise,it may undermine the sustainability of development and growth of numerous ***,to explore the current context of e-waste management,recycling,and strategies in Sri Lanka,we conducted a systematic literature review process using peer-reviewed research articles retrieved from Google Scholar *** searched for articles containing keywords such as“e-waste”,“management strategies and recycling”,and“Sri Lanka”.We screened out papers(n=20)selected from papers(n=327)initially retrieved over a 17 period of time(2005–2022).The analysis of the screened articles showed that the main challenges to successful e-waste management were a lack of management strategies,policies,and inadequate recycling practices as well as identifying the potential and opportunities to actively enhance the comprehensive awareness,collection,storage,proper disposal,and other e-waste management steps in Sri ***,the study identified technological,financial,socio-economic,and institutional sectors as fundamental sectors to formulate a strategic plan for e-waste ***,the study suggests that enacting laws to practice and adopt e-waste management,establishing central command and management institutes to control all e-waste management bodies,providing financial assistance to informal e-waste collectors and recyclers,and introducing e-waste management to school curricula are some of the possible actions that can be taken along with enhancing the awareness of e-waste management.

Struvite Recovery from Swine Waste Biogas Digester Effluent through a Stainless Steel Device under Constant pH Conditions

Objective To investigate the struvite precipitation under constant and non-constant pH conditions and to test a stainless steel device under different operating regimes to maximize the recovery of struvite. Methods The molar ratio of NH4^＋： Mg^2＋ PO43 was adjusted to 1： 1.2：1.2 and pH was elevated to 9.0. The absorbance measurement was used to trace the process of struvite crystallization. Wastewater and precipitate analysis was done by standard analytical methods. Results The pH constant experiment reported a significantly higher struvite precipitation （24.6±0.86 g） than the non-constant pH experiment （19.8±1.86 g）. The SAR ranged from 5.6 to 8.2 g m^-2h^-1 to 3.6-4.8 g m^-2h^-1 in pH constant and non-constant experiments, respectively. The highest struvite deposit on the device was found in regime 3 followed by in regimes 2 and 4. The highest PO4^3- （97.2%） and NH4^＋（71%） removal was reported in the R1 regime. None of the influent Cu^2＋ or Zn^2＋ was precipitated on the device. Conclusion A higher struvite yield is evident in pH constant experiments. Moreover, the stainless steel device facilitates the isolation of heavy metal free pure （around 96%） struvite from swine waste biogas digester effluent contaminated with Cu^2＋ and Zn^2＋ and the highest yield is attainable with the device operating at 50 rpm with agitation by a magnetic stirrer.

Erosion of mixed cohesive and noncohesive sediments is studied using the erosion test instrument *** sediment mixtures are composed of well-sorted quartz sand(0.25-0.5 mm) and one of the three used muds:kaolinite,kaolinite-bentonite and Mississippi River *** mud contents cover from 0 to 100%.The measured data of erosion rate and bed shear stress are used to examine the segmented linear,nonlinear,and exponential erosion *** parameters of each erosion model are related to the physical properties of sediment mixtures,including clay fraction,mud fraction,mixture dry density,and mud dry *** is found that the three models can fit well with the data,and their parameters have strong relations with the mud fraction and mud dry density,to a less extent with the clay fraction,but not with the mixture dry density.

Objective:To evaluate the antileishmanial activity of different extracts from three Cuban Pluchea ***:In in vitro assays the IC50was calculated in the promastigotes and amastigotes forms as cytotoxicity in murine *** leishmaniasis cutanea experiment,mortality, weight loss,lesion size and burden parasite were ***:Extracts evaluated showed inhibitive effect on growing of promastigote form;however,active extracts caused a high toxicity. Ethanol and n-hexane extracts demonstrated specific antileishmanial *** and n-hexane extracts from Pluchea carolinensis（***） caused similar inhibition against amastigote *** intraperitoneal administration of the ethanol extract of *** at 100 mg/kg prevented lesion development compared with control ***:The antileishmanial experiment suggests that ethanol extracts from *** is the most *** studies are still needed to evaluate the polential of this plant as a source of new antileishmanial agents.
