An approach to optimize the processing parameters to get superior ridging resistance and mechanical properties in commercial production of 430 ferritic stainless steel has been studied. Attention was also paid to improve productivity and energy saving without hampering the surface and mechanical property aspects of the material. Hot rolled coils annealed by slow cooling under insulated cover exhibit better ridging resistance than bell annealing treatment with a minor decrease in ductility. Soaking temperature prior to hot rolling has a significant effect on ridging resistance.

Aim: To develop a method for closure of the arthrotomy wound and approximation of the medial periosteum at the level of tibial tuberosity after total knee arthroplasty in severe varus deformity. Method: We describe a technique of osteotendinous suturing through the tibial tuberosity for suturing of the medially elevated periosteum. Result: This is an easily reproducible technique which results in very early mobilisation and no additional complications and has several advantages over other methods of closure. Conclusion: The osteotendinous technique can be used for medial arthrotomy closure after correction of severe varus deformities and also after partial patellar tendon avulsions in total knee arthroplasty surgeries.

Rivers are important systems which provide water to fulfill human needs. However, excessive human uses over the years have led to deterioration in quality of river causing, causing health problems from contaminated water. This study focuses on the application of statistical techniques, Multiple Linear Regression model and MANOVA to assess health impacts due to pollution in Cauvery river stretch in Srirangapatna. In this study, using Multiple Linear Regression, it is found that health impact level is 60.8% dependent on water quality parameters of BOD, COD, TDS, TC and FC. The t-statistics and their associated 2-tailed p-values indicate that COD and TDS produces health impacts compared to BOD, TC and FC, when their effects are put together across all the six sampling stations in Srirangapatna. Further Pearson correlation Matrix shows highly significant positive correlation amongst parameters across all stations indicating possibility of common sources of origin that might be anthropogenic. Also graphs are plotted for individual parameters across all stations and it reveals that COD and TDS values are significant across all sampling stations, though their values are higher in impact stations, causing health impacts.

The usage of phase change materials (PCM) to store the heat in the form of latent heat is increased, because large quantity of thermal energy is stored in smaller volumes. In the present experimental investigation, sodium thiosulphate pentahydrate is employed as phase change material and it is stored in stainless steel capsules. These capsules are kept in fabricated tank and hot water is supplied into it. The experimental design is prepared by considering the parameters: flow rate, heat transfer fluid inlet temperature and PCM capsule shape. Experiments are conducted according to the experimental design and responses are recorded. The effect of selected parameters on TES using PCM is studied by analyzing experimental data. The experimental data are also analyzed using Fuzzy Logic to find the optimal values of flow rate, heat transfer fluid inlet temperature and PCM capsule shapes. The present work utilizes Fuzzy Logic to find the optimal parameters for designing the effective Thermal Energy Storage System (TES).

A simple statistical mechanical theory based on compound formation model (compound Aμ Bv formed by the preferential arrangement of A and B constituent atoms of the alloy AB, μA + νB ≒ Aμ Bv) has been used to investigate the phenomena of compound formation in NaCd liquid alloys through the study of concentration fluctuation in the long wavelength region [Scc(0)] and chemical short range order parameter (α1). The study explains the observed asymmetry successfully and suggest the existence of Cd2Na complex in the melt. The tendency of compound has been found to be weak. A tendency of inversion from segregation to order although very small, has been observed, in NaCd liquid alloys.

Primary Tuberculosis of Tonsil in a Diabetic Patient—A Case Report

Though Tuberculosis is one of the most common causes of ill health and death worldwide, people with diabetes have 2 - 3 times higher risk of tuberculosis when compared with people without diabetes. Though tuberculosis can affect any part of the body, oral and oropharyngeal tuberculosis is rare, but reported. And it’s association with diabetes mellitus because of the decreased host mechanism, is still rare, but reported. A 50-year-old female diabetic who was on insulin therapy came to OPD of MGM hospital, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal with complaints of severe pain in throat for the last 6 months. On examination, right tonsil was enlarged with granular surface. Left tonsil and rest of the oropharynx were normal. Examination of chest was normal and there was no evidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Punch biopsy revealed tuberculosis of tonsil. Isolated cases of primary tuberculosis of tonsil without evidence of pulmonary tuberculosis are rare. Presence of diabetes mellitus makes patients 2 - 3 times more vulnerable for tubercular infection.

Over the past decades many voltage collapse incidents have occurred,caused by uncoordinated interactions of local controllers,following a major disturbance in electric power system operating closer and closer to their safety *** most voltage control schemes are rule-based and only rely on local *** the availability of wide-area phasor measurements （WAMS/PMU） suggests that the risk of voltage collapse could be reduced by coordinating control actions in neighboring control regions of the *** paper shows how distributed model predictive control （MPC） can be used in order to design such a coordinating *** control agents carry out an on-line optimization by comparing the plant behavior over a finite window in time,for different possible switching sequences of the local tap changing transformer （LTC）.The evolution of the plant behavior is obtained by a fast Modelica simulation of the hybrid systems model,using information on the tap switching sequences that neighboring control regions are planning to implement on their *** simulation of a 12-bus power system this paper shows that the distributed MPC controllers can prevent,or at least postpone,voltage collapse in circumstances where classical uncoordinated controllers *** required communication exchange is very limited,making practical applications *** extensions to larger systems will require consideration of modeling abstractions of neighboring control regions,so as to keep the simulation time for each local decision maker short.

A total, 25 different ground-water samples collected in Mundaragi taluk in of Gadag district, Karnataka, India to appraise the distribution of Fluoride. pH of collected groundwater is shown alkaline in nature and ranged between 7.18 and 9.32 with a mean value of 8.36. Fluoride content ranged between 0.86 to 4.63 mg/L in ground water samples, with minimum value 0.86 mg/L (MGK24) and maximum value 4.63 mg/L (MGK20). 48% of samples indicated fluoride content below 1.4 mg/L and 32% samples indicated fluoride content in between 2.0 and 3.0 mg/L. Followed by 8% of the samples showed fluoride content ranges above 3.1. The public from villagers have been used high fluoride-bearing groundwater for drinking prolonged period and suffering from fluorosis. Analytical values also predict that occurrence of minerals like apatite, fluorspar, topaz and mica gets processed naturally and releases fluoride into the lithosphere and percolates into ground water. The present study also helps find out a suitable adsorbent for removal of Fluoride in ground water. However, with respect to chemistry of water, the cation and anion balance of all the 25 groundwater samples were inside the recognized limit of ±10%.
