Objective:To provide the most up-to-date data on the burden of malignant mesothelioma(MM)and the projections through 2029 in ***:Data on patients diagnosed with MM from China during 1990-2019 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)2019 database,including annual cases and deaths data and age-standardized rates of incidence,mortality,and disability-adjusted life-years(DALYs)associated with MM among different age *** trends during 1990-2019 were analyzed by the Joinpoint regression models using 95%confidence interval(CI),while the projections through 2029 were calculated by the Bayesian age-period-cohort *** on the production and consumption of asbestos in China were obtained from the United States Geological Survey on Mineral Commodity Summaries during ***:We observed a significant elevation in incident new cases and deaths over the last 3 decades,increasing from 1193 in 1990 to 2815 in 2019 for incident cases and from 1134 in 1990 to 2773 in 2019 for death *** found a roughly 6%increase in the proportion of incident cases for those aged>70 years(30%in 2019 versus 24%in 1990),while for the proportion of deaths similar elevation for those aged>70 years was ***,men had significantly higher DALYs due to MM across age groups compared with *** consumption in China dramatically dropped since 2012 and reached the bottom in 2017 with 230 *** 2029,the projected age-standardized rate for incidence and mortality is expected to reach 1.2 per million for ***:We found,for the first time using GBD data on the Chinese population,that the burden of MM has been significantly increasing in China over the last three decades and will continue to increase in the upcoming decade,suggesting an urgent need for a complete ban on chrysotile asbestos in China.

Background:Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) patients are commonly metastasized to the liver,which are extremely *** radiotherapy is commonly used to treat metastatic tumors,survival benefits after radiotherapy for PDAC patients with liver metastases remains ***,we aimed to evaluate survival benefits after radiotherapy for PDAC patients with liver ***:Data on PDAC patients with liver metastasis were extracted from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER) *** bias between radiotherapy and no-radiotherapy groups was minimized using propensity score matching(PSM).Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazard models were used to explore the therapeutic role of radiotherapy presented with hazard ratio(HR) and 95% confidence intervals(CI).Results:Overall,12,945 PDAC patients with liver metastasis were extracted from the SEER database,including 473 patients who underwent radiotherapy(1:1 matched with patients without radiotherapy).We found that PDAC patients with liver metastasis receiving radiotherapy alone could significantly prolong the OS(HR:0.78,95% CI:0.682-0.882,P<0.001) or receiving radiotherapy in combination with either surgery or chemotherapy could also prolong the OS(HR:0.752,95% CI:0.661-0.855,P<0.001;HR:0.784,95% CI0.689-0.892,P= 0.008,respectively).Radiotherapy appeared to prolong the OS(with median OS increasing from 1 month to 4 months).Additionally,we found that several protective prognostic factors including younger age,low stage,and receiving chemotherapy and surgery(all P<0.001).Conclusions:PDAC patients with liver metastases could benefit from radiotherapy alone or in combination with either surgery or chemotherapy,suggesting radiotherapy was most effective for PDAC patients with liver metastases,especially for younger age(< 65 year),low stage,and receiving chemotherapy and surgery.

Background and purpose:Gastric cancer with liver metastases(GCLM) remains a challenge in clinical *** purpose of the study was to access the therapeutic role of radiotherapy in GCLM patients in the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER) *** and methods:Data on GCLM patients were extracted from the SEER *** score matching(PSM) was used to minimize bias between radiotherapy and no-radiotherapy *** therapeutic role of radiotherapy was evaluated by comparing Kaplan-Meier(KM) curves and Cox proportional hazard models presented with hazard ratio(HR) and 95% confidence intervals(CI).Results:A total of 2300 patients with microscopically confirmed GCLM were extracted from the database,including 356 patients who received radiotherapy that was 1:1 PSM with patients who did not receive *** patients could not benefit from radiotherapy(HR:1.08,95% CI:0.93-1.26,P= 0.33).Multivariate analyses revealed receiving surgery,chemotherapy and low grade were protective prognostic *** median overall survival(OS) time of radiotherapy and no-radiotherapy groups were both 7 months(P > 0.05).The median OS time of chemotherapy with radiotherapy was shorter than those chemotherapy alone(8 months,95% CI 8-10 months versus 10 months,95% CI 9-12 months,P > 0.05).The median OS time of surgery with radiotherapy was similar to those with surgery alone(11months,95% CI 8-17 months versus 11 months,95% CI 6-22 months,P > 0.05).Conclusion:Radiotherapy is not associated with better prognosis in GCLM *** combined with chemotherapy or surgery does not prolong the OS.

Background:Malignant pleural mesothelioma(MPM) is an aggressive cancer with dismal *** radiotherapy is commonly used to treat malignant tumors,survival benefits after radiotherapy for MPM patients remains ***,we aimed to evaluate survival benefits after radiotherapy for MPM *** and Methods:Data on MPM patients were extracted from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER) *** bias between the radiotherapy and no-radiotherapy groups was minimized using propensity score matching(PSM).Kaplan-Meier(KM) and Cox proportional hazard models were used to explore the therapeutic role of radiotherapy presented with hazard ratio(HR) and 95% confidence intervals(CI).Results:Overall 7,299 patients with microscopically confirmed primary MPM were extracted for further analyses and among them,803(11%) underwent *** found the radiotherapy group had statistically significant higher median overall survival(OS),compared to the group without radiotherapy(12 months vs.8 months,respectively;HR:0.868,95% CI 0.785-0.961) and after adjustment for PSM,the statistical significance remained(HR:0.874,95% CI:0.789-0.968).We found reduced OS after radiotherapy for MPM patients with lung metastases(2 months vs.8 months,respectively;HR:2.446,95% CI1.303-4.592).Additionally,patients in a combination of radiotherapy with surgery had better OS compared with surgery alone(19 months vs.13 months,respectively;HR:0.758,95CI%:0.659-0.872).We also found that the OS in combination with surgery,chemotherapy and radiotherapy group significantly improved,compared to radiotherapy with chemotherapy or with surgery(20 months vs.11 months;HR:0.612,95% CI:0.518-0.722).Conclusion:We found radiotherapy prolonged the OS for MPM patients,though radiotherapy should be administered with caution for MPM patients with metastases.

BACKGROUND Return to work(RTW)serves as an indication for young and middle-aged colorectal cancer(CRC)survivors to resume their normal social ***,these survivors encounter significant challenges during their RTW ***,scientific research is necessary to explore the barriers and facilitating factors of returning to work for young and middle-aged CRC *** To examine the current RTW status among young and middle-aged CRC survivors and to analyze the impact of RTW self-efficacy(RTW-SE),fear of progression(FoP),eHealth literacy(eHL),family resilience(FR),and financial toxicity(FT)on their RTW *** A cross-sectional investigation was adopted in this *** September 2022 to February 2023,a total of 209 participants were recruited through a convenience sampling method from the gastrointestinal surgery department of a class A tertiary hospital in *** investigation utilized a general information questionnaire alongside scales assessing RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and *** analyze the factors that influence RTW outcomes among young and middle-aged CRC survivors,Cox regression modeling and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis were *** A total of 43.54%of the participants successfully returned to work,with an average RTW time of 100 *** regression univariate analysis revealed that RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and FT were significantly different between the non-RTW and RTW groups(P<0.05).Furthermore,Cox regression multivariate analysis identified per capita family monthly income,job type,RTW-SE,and FR as independent influencing factors for RTW(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The RTW rate requires further *** levels of RTW-SE and FR were found to significantly increase RTW among young and middle-aged CRC *** professionals should focus on modifiable factors,such as RTW-SE and FR,to design targeted RTW support programs,thereby facilitating their timely reintegration into mainstream society.

Photo‑Energized MoS_(2)/CNT Cathode for High‑Performance Li–CO_(2)Batteries in a Wide‑Temperature Range

Li–CO_(2) batteries are considered promising energy storage systems in extreme environments such as Mars;however,severe performance degradation will occur at a subzero temperature owning to the sluggish reaction ***,a photo-energized strategy adopting sustainable solar energy in wide working temperature range Li–CO_(2) battery was achieved with a binder-free MoS_(2)/carbon nanotube(CNT)photo-electrode as *** unique layered structure and excellent photoelectric properties of MoS_(2) facilitate the abundant generation and rapid transfer of photo-excited carriers,which accelerate the CO_(2) reduction and Li_(2)CO_(3) decomposition upon *** illuminated battery at room temperature exhibited high discharge voltage of 2.95 V and mitigated charge voltage of 3.27 V,attaining superior energy efficiency of 90.2%and excellent cycling stability of over 120 *** at an extremely low temperature of−30℃,the battery with same electrolyte can still deliver a small polarization of 0.45 V by the photoelectric and photothermal synergistic mechanism of MoS_(2)/CNT *** work demonstrates the promising potential of the photo-energized wide working temperature range Li–CO_(2) battery in addressing the obstacle of charge overpotential and energy efficiency.

Homozygous phytosterolemia and a literature review:A case report

BACKGROUND Phytosterolemia,also known as sitosterolemia,is a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by elevated plasma plant sterol levels and xanthomata,which is easily misdiagnosed as familial *** with homozygous phytosterolemia often have severe clinical manifestations,with xanthomata in childhood and premature *** patient had a milder clinical *** SUMMARY This report describes a patient with homozygous phytosterolemia who presented with only elevated cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)without xanthomata,arteriosclerosis,or hematological *** mutation of ABCG5 which encodes an ATP-binding cassette transporter,was detected by whole exome sequencing and diagnosed as *** of the patient’s plasma plant sterol levels detected significant elevations in stigmasterol,rapeseed oil-derived plant sterol,andβ-glutaminol *** was started and a low plant sterol diet was *** patient’s blood lipid profile was reexamined one month later and showed significant decreases in total cholesterol and LDL-C *** has similar clinical features as familial hypercholesterolemia,is highly susceptible to misdiagnosis,and has a very low incidence,and therefore clinicians need to consider a genetic diagnosis of a definitively hyperlipidemic disorder when statin drugs fail to lower lipid *** Phytosterolemia is easily misdiagnosed as familial hypercholesterolaemia and can be treated by dietary modification and cholesterol absorption inhibitors to lower blood lipids.

BACKGROUND Esophageal stricture ranks among the most significant complications following endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD).Excessive fibrotic repair is a typical pathological feature leading to stenosis after *** To examine the effectiveness and underlying mechanism of Kangfuxin solution(KFX)in mitigating excessive fibrotic repair of the esophagus *** Pigs received KFX at 0.74 mL/kg/d for 21 days after esophageal full circumferential *** examinations occurred on days 7 and 21 *** vitro,recombinant transforming growth factor(TGF)-β1(5 ng/mL)induced a fibrotic microenvironment in primary esophageal fibroblasts(pEsF).After 24 hours of KFX treatment(at 1.5%,1%,and 0.5%),expression ofα-smooth muscle actin-2(ACTA2),fibronectin(FN),and type collagen I was *** signaling was analyzed,including TGF-β1,Smad2/3,and phosphor-smad2/3(p-Smad2/3).RESULTS Compared to the Control group,the groups treated with KFX and prednisolone exhibited reduced esophageal stenosis,lower weight loss rates,and improved food tolerance 21 d after *** treatment,Masson staining revealed thinner and less dense collagen fibers in the submucosal ***,the expression of fibrotic effector molecules was notably ***,KFX downregulated the transduction levels of fibrotic functional molecules such as TGF-β1,Smad2/3,and p-Smad2/*** vitro,pEsF exposed to TGF-β1-induced fibrotic microenvironment displayed increased fibrotic activity,which was reversed by KFX treatment,leading to reduced activation of ACTA2,FN,and collagen *** 1.5%KFX treatment group showed decreased expression of p-Smad 2/3 in TGF-β1-activated *** KFX showed promise as a therapeutic option for post-full circumferential esophageal ESD strictures,potentially by suppressing fibroblast fibrotic activity through modulation of the TGF-β1/Smads signaling pathway.

目的比较左束支起搏(LBBP)与右心室起搏(RVP)在房室传导阻滞伴射血分数降低患者的起搏参数、安全性及心脏结构与功能改善。方法收集2018年3月至2021年3月期间在温州医科大学附属第一医院心内科诊断为房室传导阻滞伴左心室射血分数(LVEF... 详细信息

目的比较左束支起搏(LBBP)与右心室起搏(RVP)在房室传导阻滞伴射血分数降低患者的起搏参数、安全性及心脏结构与功能改善。方法收集2018年3月至2021年3月期间在温州医科大学附属第一医院心内科诊断为房室传导阻滞伴左心室射血分数(LVEF)降低(<50%),且初次尝试LBBP或原RVP升级LBBP患者;回顾入选我院同时期具有相同入排标准及植入适应证且初次行RVP植入患者。比较两组基线及随访1年时起搏阈值、感知、QRS时限变化、LVEF、左心室舒张末期内径(LVEDD)。结果共入选62例患者,其中LBBP组34例,年龄(69.1±16.5)岁,其中男25例;RVP组28例,年龄(70.3±16.1)岁,其中男21例。LBBP组自身及起搏QRS时限分别为(132.1±35.6)ms和(109±21.5)ms,左束支夺获阈值(0.61±0.37)V/0.5 ms,感知(9.2±6.4)mV;RVP组自身及起搏QRS时限分别为(136.3±26.6)ms,(167.9±21.1)ms,阈值(0.73±0.34)V/0.5 ms,感知(10.4±2.8)mV。LBBP组随访1年时,LVEF增幅为8.3%,LVEDD减少幅度为3.9 mm;RVP组平均LVEF增幅为2.8%(P=0.024),但LVEDD反而增大1.9 mm。LBBP组LVEF增高≥10%比例高于RVP组(41.2%对25.0%,P=0.180),未见LVEF下降超过10%患者,而RVP组中17.9%(5/28)的患者LVEF下降超过10%。结论在房室传导阻滞伴LVEF下降患者,LBBP阈值低、感知良好,参数与RVP相似,有明显的心功能及心室重构获益。
