Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have a high specific surface area,adjustable pores and can be used to obtain functional porous materials with diverse and well-ordered structures through coordination and self-assembly,which has intrigued wide interest in a broad range of disciplines.In the arena of biomedical engineering,the functionalized modification of MOFs has produced drug carriers with excellent dispersion and functionalities such as target delivery and response release,with promising applications in bio-detection,disease therapy,tissue healing,and other areas.This review summa-rizes the present state of research on the functionalization of MOFs by physical binding or chemical cross-linking of small molecules.***.bioma romolecules.and hvdrogels and evaluates the role and approach of MOFs functionalization in boosting the reactivity of materials.On this basis,research on the application of functionalized MOFs composites in biomedical engineering fields such as drug delivery,tissue repair,disease treatment,bio-detection and imaging is surveyed,and the development trend and application prospects of functionalized MOFs as an important new class of biomedical materials in the biomedical field are anticipated,which may provide some inspiration and reference for further development of MOF for bio-medical applications.

Helicobacter pylori and immunotherapy for gastrointestinal cancer

Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with the risk of gastrointestinal(GI)cancers;however,its impact on immunotherapy for GI cancers remains uncertain.In this study,we included 10,122 patients who underwent ^(13)C-urea breath tests.Among 636 patients with Epstein-Barr virus–negative microsatellite-stable gastric cancer(GC)who were treated with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy,H.pylori–positive patients exhibited significantly longer immune-related progression-free survival(irPFS)compared with H.pylori–negative patients(6.97 months versus 5.03 months,p<0.001,hazard ratio[HR]0.76,95%confidence interval[CI]0.62–0.95,p=0.015).Moreover,the H.pylori–positive group demonstrated a trend of 4 months longer median immune-related overall survival(irOS)than the H.pylori–negative group.H.pylori–positive GC displayed higher densities of PD-L1+cells and nonexhausted CD8+T cells,indicative of a“hot”tumor microenvironment.Transcriptomic analysis revealed that H.pylori–positive GC shared molecular characteristics similar to those of immunotherapy-sensitive GC.However,H.pylori–positive patients with DNA mismatch repair–deficient(dMMR)/microsatellite instability–high(MSI-H)colorectal adenocarcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)had shorter irPFS compared with H.pylori–negative patients(16.13 months versus not reached,p=0.042,HR 2.26,95%CI 1.13–4.50,p=0.021 and 5.57 months versus 6.97 months,p=0.029,HR 1.59,95%CI 1.14–2.23,p=0.006,respectively).The difference in irOS between H.pylori–positive and–negative patients had the same trend as that between dMMR/MSI-H colorectal adenocarcinoma and ESCC patients.We also identified a trend of shorter irPFS and irOS in H.pylori–positive liver cancer and pancreatic cancer patients.In summary,our findings supported that H.pylori infection is a beneficial factor for GC immunotherapy by shaping hot tumor microenvironments.However,in dMMR/MSI-H colorectal adenocarcinoma and ESCC patients,H.pylori adversely affects the efficacy of immunotherapy.

In the context of promoting green energy transition and addressing climate change globally,solar energy,as a clean and renewable energy source,has gradually become a hot topic for research.Solar streetlight systems realize energy self-sufficiency and environment-friendly lighting by integrating photovoltaic power generation technology and efficient LED lighting technology.By comprehensively analyzing the current status of the application of solar streetlights at home and abroad,this paper discusses its technical advantages,market penetration,and challenges in its development.In terms of technical characteristics,this paper focuses on analyzing the key technologies such as energy conversion efficiency and intelligent control systems of solar streetlights.

Physiochemical and biological characteristics of fouling on landfill leachate treatment systems surface

Fouling of landfill leachate,a biofilm formation process on the surface of the collection system,migration pipeline and treatment system causes low efficiency of leachate transportation and treatment and increases cost for maintenance of those facilities.In addition,landfill leachate fouling might accumulate pathogens and antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs),posing threats to the environment.Characterization of the landfill leachate fouling and its associated environmental behavior is essential for the management of fouling.In this study,physicochemical and biological properties of landfill leachate fouling and the possible accumulation capacity of pathogens and ARGs were investigated in nitrification(aerobic condition)and denitrification(anaerobic condition)process during landfill leachate biological treatment,respectively.Results show that microbial(bacterial,archaeal,eukaryotic,and viral)community structure and function(carbon fixation,methanogenesis,nitrification and denitrification)differed in fouling under aerobic and anaerobic conditions,driven by the supplemental leachate water quality.Aerobic fouling had a higher abundance of nitrification and denitrification functional genes,while anaerobic fouling harbored a higher abundance of carbon fixation and methanogenesis genes.Both forms of leachate fouling had a higher abundance of pathogens and ARGs than the associated leachate,suggesting the accumulation capacity of fouling on biotic pollutants.Specifically,aerobic fouling harbored three orders of magnitude higher multidrug resistance genes mex D than its associated leachate.This finding provides fundamental knowledge on the biological properties of leachate fouling and suggests that leachate fouling might harbor significant pathogens and ARGs.

A Highly Efficient Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)-LaO_(x) Catalyst for the Reductive Amination of Furfural to Furfurylamine:the Promoting Effect of La

The reductive amination of furfural to furfurylamine is an important and still challenging topic in the field of biomass conversion. In this work, we prepared a series of Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)-LaO_(x) catalysts by co-precipitation method, the role of La played in promoting the catalytic performances of reductive amination furfural was discussed based on the changes in the electronic state of Ni species, acidity, and Ni particle size. The catalytic activity and the selectivity of furfurylamine are highly dependent on the surface properties and the structure of the catalyst. The addition of La promoted the amount of strong acidic sites and the H2dissociation and spillover on the surface, thus inducing the improvement of the catalytic activity and furfurylamine selectivity. The Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)-0.5LaO_(x)catalyst with suitable acid sites gave a high yield of furfurylamine (94.9%) under mild reaction conditions. Moreover, the catalyst could be recycled five times without significant loss in activity. The Ni/Al_(2)O_(3)-LaO_(x) catalyst is of great promise in the production of amines via reductive amination reaction.

Augmented FCN: rethinking context modeling for semantic segmentation

The effectiveness of modeling contextual information has been empirically shown in numerous computer vision tasks. In this paper, we propose a simple yet efficient augmented fully convolutional network(AugFCN) by aggregating content-and position-based object contexts for semantic segmentation.Specifically, motivated because each deep feature map is a global, class-wise representation of the input,we first propose an augmented nonlocal interaction(AugNI) to aggregate the global content-based contexts through all feature map interactions. Compared to classical position-wise approaches, AugNI is more efficient. Moreover, to eliminate permutation equivariance and maintain translation equivariance, a learnable,relative position embedding branch is then supportably installed in AugNI to capture the global positionbased contexts. AugFCN is built on a fully convolutional network as the backbone by deploying AugNI before the segmentation head network. Experimental results on two challenging benchmarks verify that AugFCN can achieve a competitive 45.38% mIoU(standard mean intersection over union) and 81.9% mIoU on the ADE20K val set and Cityscapes test set, respectively, with little computational overhead. Additionally, the results of the joint implementation of AugNI and existing context modeling schemes show that AugFCN leads to continuous segmentation improvements in state-of-the-art context modeling. We finally achieve a top performance of 45.43% mIoU on the ADE20K val set and 83.0% mIoU on the Cityscapes test set.

Diversity and interactions of lichen mycobionts and photobionts in the Fildes Region, King George Island,maritime Antarctica

Lichens, as dual organisms comprising a major mycobiont and a major photobiont, exhibit remarkable survival capabilities in extreme conditions, such as those found in Antarctica. Despite their adaptability, the diversity and distribution of lichen photobionts in the ice-free areas of maritime Antarctica remain less understood compared to their mycobiont counterparts.In our study, we investigated the diversity of both lichen mycobionts and photobionts in 56 samples collected from the Fildes Region on King George Island, maritime Antarctica. Through sequencing of the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer regions and subsequent phylogenetic analysis, we examined the relationships and association patterns between mycobionts and photobionts. Our findings revealed 19 taxa of lichen mycobionts across 13 families and seven orders, along with nine photobiont species within the class Trebouxiophyceae. These photobionts encompassed six Trebouxia species, one Asterochloris species,one Chloroidium species, and one Stichococcus species. In particular, a new Trebouxia lineage(Trebouxia sp. OTU D08) and a new Chloroidium lineage were found. The analysis indicated that many mycobionts could be associated with multiple photobiont species, a pattern also observed among the photobionts. These results contribute significantly to our understanding of the complex diversity of lichen mycobionts and photobionts in the ice-free areas of maritime Antarctica.

Multi-objective optimization for 10-kW rated power dynamic wireless charging systems of electric vehicles

In this paper, we propose a method to optimize the output power, efficiency, and cost of the dynamic wireless charging(DWC) system of electric vehicles by using the transmitting coil spacing as the decision variable. In a set of transmitting equipment, we adopt a structure with two transmitting networks in parallel and derive loss models. The expressions of the output power and efficiency of the DWC system are obtained by data fitting. In addition, combined with the proposed cost function, we construct a multiobjective optimization problem on output power, efficiency, and cost. Due to the complexity of the objective function, it is difficult to solve the problem by the analytic method, and thus we propose a constrained adaptive particle swarm optimization(CAPSO) algorithm with high accuracy to solve the problem. Finally,the simulation results verify the feasibility of the proposed model. The advantages of the proposed CAPSO algorithm and the optimization results under different weight combinations are presented.

Ischemic stroke(IS)represents a significant threat to brain health due to its elevated mortality and disability rates.The efficacy of small-molecule neuroprotective agents has been impeded by challenges associated with traversing the blood-brain barrier(BBB)and limited bioavailability.Conversely,advanced nano drug delivery systems hold promise for overcoming these obstacles by facilitating efficient transportation across the BBB and maintaining optimal drug concentrations.This review aims to explore advanced neuroprotective nano drug delivery systems as a means of effectively administering neuroprotective agents to the brain using pharmaceutical approaches in the treatment of IS.By examining these systems,researchers and clinicians can gain valuable insights and innovative concepts,illuminating the potential of advanced neuroprotective nano drug delivery systems.Leveraging these advancements can drive the progress of pioneering and efficacious therapeutic interventions for IS.
