The aim of this work was to study effects of ketotifen fumarate(KF)on prevention of tissue damage in testes of rats with experimental autoimmune orchitis(EAO)and on the contralateral testis in a model of prolonged testicular cord torsion(TCT).Rats with EAO or TCT were injected intraperitoneally once daily with KF or saline solution(vehicle group).Incidence and severity of testicular damage were evaluated by histopathology using an EAO score or a Johnsen *** cells(mC)were identified by histochemistry and *** EAO model,KF significantly reduced severity of histopathological testicular damage compared to rats in the vehicle *** also reduced the number of testicular mC compared to vehicle ***,in TCT model,multifocal damage of the contralateral testis was observed 30 days after testicular torsion characterized by sloughing of the germinal epithelium,seminiferous tubule atrophy,and interstitial *** signs of inflammation and fibrosis of seminiferous tubular walls were also *** contrast,sections of contralateral testis of rats injected with KF and killed 30 days after surgery showed normal histological features.A significant decrease in the number of mC was observed in rats treated with KF compared to untreated *** conclusion,we demonstrated that treatment with KF reduced testicular inflammatory process and mC infiltrates in both EAO and TCT *** results suggest a promising treatment for infertile male patients with testicular pathologies associated with inflammation and germ cell loss.

The oil viscosity specification for wind turbine gear oils is ISO VG 320,although there are quite different viscosity indexes oils for that viscosity *** work evaluates the behaviour of different base oil formulations,since polyalphaolefin(PAO),mineral,ester and polyalkeleneglycol(PAG)that withstand quite different viscosity *** oils evaluation was done in rolling bearing tests and gear *** behaviour was compared for operating conditions in the range observable in a wind turbine *** experimental results showed considerable differences between the different oils and it was observed that depending on the contact type the relative behaviour of the lubricants would change,i.e.,the best lubricant for the rolling bearing would not imply the best result on the gear *** gear geometry is also very important toward the transmission efficiency,once using a low loss gear concept a decrease of up to 25%in torque loss could be *** models were implemented with the purpose of performing a better simulation of the mechanical system and also to obtain the friction coefficient promoted by the tested oils.

A study was carried out on the effects of processing and composition on the structure and properties of P/m EP741NP type alloys. The objectives of this study were to understand the role of Hf in a P/m superalloy containing high niobium used in aircraft engines and to determine the effects of extrusion and forging the powders as contrasted to HIPing （hot isostatic pressing） only. Two alloys of the P/m EP741NP composition were atomized： one alloy contained 0.26%Hfand the other was Hf free. After the as-atomized powders from both alloys were characterized, the powders were extruded into billets, forged and heat treated. After each process, the microstructures were characterized by SEm and the phases were extracted and identified by X-ray diffraction. The presence of Hf in the residues was probed by EDS （energy dispersive spectroscopy）. The alloys were given the published Russian heat treatment as well as a more conventional heat treatment more typical of western powder alloys. Tensile, creep and stress rupture mechanical property tests were run. Results of the structural behavior of the alloys after each processing step will be presented and discussed. The role of the Hfon the mechanical properties will be discussed.

Arachis retusa Krapov. et W. C. Gregory et Valls is endemic in the West-central region of Brazil, occurring In areas endangered by human actions. The establishment of in vitro preservation methods for wild species of Arachis is an alternative to seed banks for germplasm storage, multiplication and distribution. The risk of genetic changes Induced by tissue culture and the monitoring of the genetic stability of the biological material before, during and after storage must be considered In the context of conservation. Random amplified polymorphlc ONA （RAPO） and amplified fragment length polymorphism （AFLP） fingerprinting were used to evaluate the genetic stability of in vitro plants originated from cotyledons and embryo axes of A. retusa. Cotyledons originated shoots through direct organogenesls and embryo axes displayed muItishoot formation Induced by 110 mmol/L and 8.8 mmol/L BAP, respectively. Ninety genomlc regions （loci） generated from RAPO and 372 from AFLP analyses were evaluated. All amplified fragments detected by both techniques in plants derived from the two explant types were monomorphic. The results Indicate that the recovered shoots are genetically stable at the assessed genomic regions.

Lanthanide coordination compounds of the formula Na[Ln(L)4](1 Ln),where Ln=La^3+,Eu^3+,Gd^3+,Tb^3+,L=[L]-and HL=dimethyl(4-methylphenylsulfo nyl)amidophosphate,were *** structural and spectro scopic properties were discussed in detail based on X-ray diffraction measurements,IR spectroscopy,absorption and emission spectroscopy at 293 and 77 K and theoretical calculations of the intramolecular energy transfer(IET)*** calculations were used to investigate the 1 Ln electronic properties re quired to calculate the transition rates.30 and 22 pathways of intramolecular nonradiative energy transfer were examined in the case of 1 Eu and 1 Tb,*** is shown that the main pathway for sensitization of the lanthanide emission is either the triplet(1 Eu)or singlet(1 Tb)transfer,occurring mainly through the exchange *** energy rates for energy transfer from S1 and T1 equal WS=1.53×10^5 s^-1(1 Eu),WT=5.14×10^6 s^-1(1 Eu)and WS=4.09×10^7 s^-1(1 Tb),WT=6.88×10^5 s^-1(1 Tb).The crucial role of the 7 F5 level in the energy transfer process of 1 Tb and the participation of the LmCT state in the depopulation of the ligand singlet state of 1 Eu were *** influence of the resonance effect on the splitting of the7 F1 level in 1 Eu was *** comparing the properties of 1 Ln with the properties of 2 Ln coordination compounds,sharing the same ligand and crystallizing in the same crystallographic system(monoclinic),but with a different space group,it is demonstrated how slight structural changes can affect the photophysical properties of Ln compounds.
