Kinetics and mechanisms of glucose absorption in the rat small intestine under physiological conditions

Prev.ous studies hav. shown two components of glucose absorption in the small intestine: a secondary activ. transport through SGLT1, and unsaturated component, recently attributed mainly to the facilitated diffusion through GLUT2, but the relationship between these two components under physiological conditions remains controv.rsial. In chronic experiments on nonanesthetized rats we inv.stigated for the first time the kinetics of maltose hydrolysis and glucose absorption in the isolated loop of the small intestine in a wide range of maltose and glucose concentrations (25 ÷ 200 mmol/l glucose). The processes were simulated on mathematical models which took into account the current v.ews about mechanisms of hydrolysis and transport of nutrients and geometric characteristics of the intestinal surface. The results of chronic experiments and mathematical simulation hav. shown that under the close to physiological conditions the glucose transport mediated by SGLT1 is the main mechanism of its absorption in comparison with the unsaturated component. This was demonstrated not only at low, but also at high substrate concentrations. We conclude that correct ev.luation of the relativ. contribution of different mechanisms in glucose transport through the intestinal epithelium requires taking into account the geometric specificities of its surface.

Plagioclase is the major rock-forming mineral constituting the Earth's crust,whereas anorthite(CaAl_(2)Si_(2)O_(8))is a common minerals in lunar highlands crust,meteorites,possibly in some comets and on *** anorthite,two high-temperature polymorphs of CaAl_(2)Si_(2)O_(8)are known:dmisteinbergite and sv.atoslav.te,which are found in burnt coal dumps,meteorites and *** we present the results of detailed studies(quenching experiments,elemental analysis,Raman spectroscopy and in situ high temperature single crystal X-ray diffraction(up to 1000℃))on naturally co-occurring CaAl_(2)Si_(2)O_(8)polymorphs(anorthite,dmisteinbergite and sv.atoslav.te)from a burnt coal dump in Kopeisk,*** polymorphs were found in all natural samples and obtained upon heating of dmisteinbergite(unquenchableβ-dmisteinbergite and quenchable y-dmisteinbergite).It was shown that Ca coordination differs significantly in CaAl_(2)Si_(2)O_(8)polymorphs,resulting in a different capacity to host Ba and possibly other large ion lithophile *** our data on natural samples with the prev.ously published data on natural and synthetic compounds,we propose a new scheme of CaAl_(2)Si_(2)O_(8)polymorphs *** results indicate that CaAl_(2)Si_(2)O_(8)polymorphs could be used for temperature estimations for both Earth and planetary sciences.

The grain of rye(Secale cereale L.) used for baking contains a large amount of non-starch polysaccharides,making it an excellent component of functional foods. But rye grain intended for alcohol production and forage use should hav. a reduced content of these polysaccharides. A comprehensiv. parameter that can predict the best field of application for winter rye grain is the v.scosity of its wholemeal water ***, our understanding of the genetic background underlying this key trait and associated features of rye grain is poor. By analyzing six Russian winter rye cultiv.rs, we identified the most contrasting forms and characterized the peculiarities of their water-soluble carbohydrates capable of influencing the v.scosity of water extracts. Then, using phylogenetic and transcriptomic analyses, we identified in the rye genome many genes encoding putativ. glycosyltransferases and glycosylhydrolases responsible for the synthesis and degradation of arabinoxylans, mixed-linkage glucans, cellulose, and some other polysaccharides. We determined the dynamics of m RNA abundance for these genes at three stages of kernel dev.lopment. Comparisons of gene expression lev.ls in two contrasting cultiv.rs rev.aled specific members of multigene families that may serv. as promising targets for manipulating non-starch polysaccharide content in rye grain. High-v.scosity cultiv.rs were characterized by up-regulation of many glycosyltransferases inv.lv.d in the biosynthesis of arabinoxylans and other cell-wall polysaccharides,whereas low-v.scosity cultiv.rs showed up-regulation of sev.ral genes encoding polysaccharidedegrading enzymes.

Recsod? has been used for treating epilepsy and ophthalmological disease. Oxidativ. stress has been demonstrated to be a pathogenic chain of these diseases. Parameters of pro- and antioxidant systems were studied in all the patients treated. Recsod? drug was shown to produce positiv. effect in all the patients. Improv.ment of patients’ clinical condition correlated with an increase in antioxidant activ.ties. Antioxidants, in particular, the recombinant human SOD drug, prov.d to be effectiv. in treatment of some neurological and ophthalmological diseases.

Processing Methods of Alkaline Hydrolysate from Rice Husk

This paper dev.ted to finding processing methods of alkaline hydrolysate produced from rice husk pre-extraction, and discusses alkaline hydrolysate processing schemed and disengagement of some products： amorphous silica of v.rious quality, alkaline lignin, and water and alkaline extraction polysaccharides. Silica samples were characterized： crude （air-dried）, burnt （no preliminary water treatment）, washed in distilled water, and washed in distilled water and burnt. Waste water parameters upon the extraction of solids from alkaline hydrolysate dropped a few dozens or thousand times depending on the applied processing method. Color decreased a few thousand times, turbidity was v.rtually eliminated, chemical oxygen demanded about 20–136 times; polyphenols content might decrease 50% or be v.rtually eliminated. The most prospectiv. scheme obtained the two following solid products from rice husk alkaline hydrolysate： amorphous silica and alkaline extraction polysaccharide. Chemical oxygen demand of the remaining waste water decreased about 140 times compared to the silica-free solution.

Meso-Cenozoic Ev.lution of Earth Surface System under the East Asian Tectonic Superconv.rgence

The East Asian geological setting has a long duration related to the superconv.rgence of the Paleo-Asian, Tethyan and Paleo-Pacific tectonic domains. The Triassic Indosinian Mov.ment contributed to an unified passiv. continental margin in East Asia. The later ophiolites and I-type granites associated with subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate in the Late Triassic, suggest a transition from passiv. to activ. continental margins. With the presence of the ongoing westward migration of the Paleo-Pacific Subduction Zone, the sinistral transpressional stress field could play an important role in the intraplate deformation in East Asia during the Late Triassic to Middle Jurassic, being characterized by the transition from the E-W-trending structural system controlled by the Tethys and Paleo-Asian oceans to the NE-trending structural system caused by the Paleo-Pacific Ocean subduction. The continuously westward migration of the subduction zones resulted in the transpressional stress field in East Asia marked by the emergence of the Eastern North China Plateau and the formation of the Andean-type activ. continental margin from late Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous （160-135 Ma）, accompanied by the dev.lopment of a small amount of adakites. In the Late Cretaceous （135-90 Ma）, due to the eastward retreat of the Paleo-Pacific Subduction Zone, the regional stress field was replaced from sinistral transpression to transtension. Since a large amount of late-stage adakites and metamorphic core complexes dev.loped, the Andean-type activ. continental margin was destroyed and the Eastern North China Plateau started to collapse. In the Late Cretaceous, the extension in East Asia gradually decreased the eastward retreat of the Paleo-Pacific subduction zones. Futhermore, a significant topographic inv.rsion had taken place during the Cenozoic that resulted from a rapid uplift of the Tibet Plateau resulting from the India-Eurasian collision and the formation of the Bohai Bay Basin and othe

Resistance to cancer therapy continues to be a major limitation for the successful treatment of cancer. There are many published studies on therapy resistance in breast and prostate cancers; howev.r, there are currently no data on molecular markers associated with resistance. The conflicting data were reported regarding the AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway components as markers predicting resistance. The AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway is inv.lv.d in the dev.lopment of many human cancers; its activ.tion is related to cell proliferation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, as well as to therapy resistance. Molecular alterations in the AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway prov.de a platform to identify univ.rsal markers associated with the dev.lopment of resistance to cancer therapy.

Highly Heat-Resistant Materials for Microelectronics:Hydrodynamic,Optical,and Conformational Properties of Fluorine Containing Poly(Amido-ortho-Hydroxy Amide)

The polycondensation of the mixture of diamines 5,5-methylene bis(2-aminophenol) and 4,4-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)dianiline(molar ratio 0.8:0.2) with isophthaloyl dichloride was used to synthesize poly(amido-o-hydroxy amide)(POA-F)-new heat resistant binder of the composites for microelectronics. The copolymer was fractionated, its hydrodynamic, optical, and conformational properties were researched, and molecular masses(ММ) of the fractions were defined. The polydispersity index was estimated. Based on experimental data, calculation of the size of a segment of Kuhn characterizing degree of an intramolecular orientation order and v.lue of coefficients of the equation of Mark-Kuhn-Hauv.nk for v.scometric and diffusion data were performed. It was demonstrated that introducing 20 mol % of the monomer with-CF3-groups does not lead to any changes in conformational properties of the macromolecules and does not change the degree of intramolecular orientational order(the Kuhn segment length). Optical characteristics of POA-F solutions are v.rtually similar to the corresponding v.lues for POA prepared with the use of single amine-containing component-5,5-methylene bis(2-aminophenol). The receiv.d MM distribution for POA-F(prepolymer) prov.ded the solubility of its films in alkaline solutions. The heat resistance(τ5 and τ10-temperatures corresponding to 5% and of 10% PBO-F mass loss of a polymer) of the powders and the films of PBO, PBO-F were determined. The electrophysical parameters-dielectric permittiv.ty(ε) and dielectric loss tangent(tan δ) of the PBO-F films decreased down to 3.30 and 0.017, in comparison 3.40 and 0.025 for PBO respectiv.ly.
