Efficacy of Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray in Delayed Antibiotic Prescriptions for Acute Rhinosinusitis: A Multicenter, Randomized, Open-Label, Comparative, Prospective, Parallel Group Study

While their clinical presentation is similar, post-viral rhinosinusitis does not indicate the possible development of bacterial rhinosinusitis which occurs in only 0.5% to 5% of all cases of ARS. However, unreasonable antibacterial therapy is prescribed in 54% to 77% of cases. The perspective is to use delayed antibacterial therapy management. The purpose of the study was to investigate the efficacy of mometasone furoate nasal spray within the delayed prescription approach. Methods: A multicenter, randomized, open-label, comparative, prospective, parallel group study enrolled a total of 156 patients with ARS aged 18 to 60 years, of them 155 patients completed the study. The patients were randomized into the main group of Mometasone Furoate (Flix) Nasal Spray or into the control group of amoxicillin clavulanate tablets while both groups were administered a standard ARS therapy. Findings: The use of MF nasal spray within the delayed antibiotics prescription approach has a significantly higher efficacy compared to the immediate antibiotics prescription in the first days of treatment (p < 0.05). Antibacterial therapy was prescribed to 42.3% of patients in the main group compared to 100.0% of patients in the control group (p < 0.05). It was shown that there were statistically significant differences in the dynamics of changes in the total symptom score between the patients administered antibiotics and the antibiotic-naive patients. Conclusion: The use of MF within the delayed antibiotics prescription approach reliably improves the pattern of symptoms over time at the disease onset and significantly reduces the need for NSAIDs administration and antibiotics prescription frequency.

Gene cloning in repeat-rich polyploid genomes remains ***,we describe a strategy for overcoming major bottlenecks in cloning of the powdery mildew resistance gene(R-gene)Pm69 derived from tetraploid wild emmer wheat.A conventional positional cloning approach was not effective owing to suppressed *** sorting was compromised by insufficient purity.A Pm69 physical map,constructed by assembling Oxford Nanopore Technology(ONT)long-read genome sequences,revealed a rapidly evolving nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat(NLR)R-gene cluster with structural variations.A single candidate NLR was identified by anchoring RNA sequencing reads from susceptible mutants to ONT contigs and was validated by virus-induced gene ***69 is likely a newly evolved NLR and was discovered in only one location across the wild emmer wheat distribution range in ***69 was successfully introgressed into cultivated wheat,and a diagnostic molecular marker was used to accelerate its deployment and pyramiding with other R-genes.

Using Bayesian multitemporal classification to monitor tropical forest cover changes in Kalimantan,Indonesia

Significant areas of native forest in Kalimantan,on the island of Borneo,have been cleared for the expansion of plantations of oil palm and *** this study multisource remote sensing was used to develop a time series of land cover maps that distinguish native forest from *** a study area in east Kalimantan,Landsat images were combined with either ALOS PALSAR or Sentinel-1 images to map four land cover classes(native forest,oil palm plantation,rubber plantation,non-forest).Bayesian multitemporal classification was applied to increase map accuracy and maps were validated using a confusion matrix;final map overall accuracy was>90%.Over 18 years from 2000 to 2018 nearly half the native forests in the study area were converted to either non-forest or plantations of either rubber or oil palm,with the highest losses between 2015 and *** upwards from 2008 large areas of degraded or cleared forests,mapped as non-forest,were converted to oil palm *** of native forests to plantation mainly occurred in lowland and wetland forest,while significant forest regrowth was detected in degraded *** maps will help Indonesia with strategies and policies for balancing economic growth and conservation.

Additive predictions of aboveground stand biomass in commercial logs and harvest residues for rotation age Pinus radiata plantations in New South Wales,Australia

By the use of non-contact atomic force microscopy （NC-AFM） and Kelvin probe force microscopy （KPFM）, we measure the local surface potential of mechanically exfoliated graphene on the prototypical insulating hydrophilic substrate of CAF2（111）. Hydration layers confined between the graphene and the CaF2 substrate, resulting from the graphene＇s preparation under ambient conditions on the hydrophilic substrate surface, are found to electronically modify the graphene as the material＇s electron density transfers from graphene to the hydration layer. Density functional theory （DFT） calculations predict that the first 2 to 3 water layers adjacent to the graphene hole-dope the graphene by several percent of a unit charge per unit cell.

Bilayered semiconductor graphene nanostructures with periodically arranged hexagonal holes

We present a theoretical study of new nanostructures based on bilayered graphene with periodically arranged hexagonal holes （bilayered graphene antidots）. Our ab initio calculations show that fabrication of hexagonal holes in bigraphene leads to connection of the neighboring edges of the two graphene layers with formation of a hollow carbon nanostructure sheet which displays a wide range of electronic properties （from semiconductor to metallic）, depending on the size of the holes and the distance between them. The results were additionally supported by wave packet dynamical transport calculations based on the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schr/Sdinger equation.
