Tropical cyclone genesis over the western north Pacific in La Ni?a decay summers: Comparison between 2018 and 2021

As the primary interannual signal of variability in the tropical ocean-atmosphere interaction, the El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation has a considerable impact on tropical cyclone(TC) activity over the western North Pacific(WNP). Both 2018 and2021 were La Ni?a decay years, but TC activity over the WNP during the two summers(June–August) showed notable differences. In 2018, summer TC activity was unusually high with a total of 18 TCs, and the region of TC genesis was mainly in the central and eastern WNP. In contrast, only 9 TCs were generated in summer 2021, and the region of TC genesis was primarily in the western WNP. By comparing the characteristics of the large-scale environmental conditions over the regions of TC genesis, the thermal factors of the tropical oceans, and the activity of the Madden-Julian Oscillation(MJO), this study revealed the possible causes for the marked differences in TC genesis over the WNP during the two summers, which both had a similar background of La Ni?a decay. The Indian Ocean Basin Mode(IOBM) transitioned of a cold anomaly in the winter of 2017/2018and persisted until summer 2018. At the same time, the Pacific Meridional Mode(PMM) maintained a positive phase, leading to eastward and northward displacement of the Western Pacific Subtropical High in summer, and eastward extension of the tropical monsoon trough, which presented conditions conducive to TC genesis over the Northwest Pacific. Moreover, the days when the MJO stagnated in phases 5 and 6 in the summer of 2018 increased by approximately 150% relative to climatological state,providing dynamic conditions favorable for TC formation. In 2021, the IOBM quickly turned to a warm anomaly in March and persisted until summer, whereas the PMM became a negative phase in January and remained so until summer. To achieve stability optimization in low-frequency vibration control for precision instruments,this paper presents a quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)vibration isolator with adjustable nonlinear ***,the stress-magnetism coupling model is established through meticulous theoretical *** controllable QZS interval is constructed via parameter design and magnetic control,effectively segregating the high static stiffness bearing section from the QZS vibration isolation ***,a displacement control scheme utilizing a magnetic force is proposed to regulate entry into the QZS working range for the vibration isolation *** results demonstrate that the operation within this QZS region reduces the peak-to-peak acceleration signal by approximately 66.7%compared with the operation outside this region,thereby significantly improving the low frequency performance of the QZS vibration isolator.

Blasting in surface mines aims to fragment rock masses to a proper ***,flyrock is an undesirable effect of blasting that can result in human *** this study,support vector regression(SVR)is combined with four algorithms:gravitational search algorithm(GSA),biogeography-based optimization(BBO),ant colony optimization(ACO),and whale optimization algorithm(WOA)for predicting flyrock in two surface mines in ***,three other methods,including artificial neural network(ANN),kernel extreme learning machine(KELM),and general regression neural network(GRNN),are employed,and their performances are compared to those of four hybrid SVR *** modeling,the measured and predicted flyrock values are validated with some performance indices,such as root mean squared error(RMSE).The results revealed that the SVR-WOA model has the most optimal accuracy,with an RMSE of 7.218,while the RMSEs of the KELM,GRNN,SVR-GSA,ANN,SVR-BBO,and SVR-ACO models are 10.668,10.867,15.305,15.661,16.239,and 18.228,***,combining WOA and SVR can be a valuable tool for accurately predicting flyrock distance in surface mines.

The evolution of the latitudinal diversity gradient(LDG),characterized by a peak in diversity toward the tropics,has captured significant attention in evolutionary biology and ***,the inverse LDG(i-LDG)mechanism,wherein species richness increases toward the poles,remains inadequately *** are among one of the oldest lineages of extant seed plants and have undergone extensive diversification in the ***,the extant cycad abundance exhibits an i-LDG pattern,and the underlying causes for this phenomenon remain largely ***,using 1,843 nuclear genes from a nearly complete sampling,we conducted comprehensive phylogenomic analyses to establish a robust species-level phylogeny for Cycas,the largest genus within *** then reconstructed the spatial-temporal dynamics and integrated global environmental data to evaluate the roles of species ages,diversification rates,contemporary environment,and conservatism to ancestral niches in shaping the i-LDG *** found Cycas experienced decreased diversification rates,coupled with the cooling temperature since its origin in the Eocene from continental *** regions have distinctively contributed to the formation of i-LDG for Cycas,with the northern hemisphere acting as evolutionary museums and the southern hemisphere serving as ***,water-related climate variables,specifically precipitation seasonality and potential evapotranspiration,were identified as paramount factors constraining Cycas species richness in the rainforest biome near the ***,the adherence to ancestral monsoonal climates emerges as a critical factor in sustaining the diversity *** study underscores the imperative of integrating both evolutionary and ecological approaches to comprehensively unravel the mechanisms underpinning global biodiversity patterns.

Developing luminescent metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) capable of high-efficiency Fe^(3+)sensing has aroused great attraction in the fields of biology,chemistry,***,previous solvothermal methods are limited by organic solvent usage,time consuming,high pressure,and high-energy ***,we propose the waste-toMOF strategy towards the scale-up production of La-MOF nanoparticles through the ball milling of recycled poly(-ethylene terephthalate)(PET) bottles and La(NO_(3))_(3)·_(6)H_(2)*** goes on alkaline hydrolysis to form 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid sodium salt(Na_(2)BDC) and ethylene glycol by ball ***,BDC reacts with La^(3+)to form *** as-prepared La-MOF crystal nanoparticles possess a rod-like morphology with the size of few hundred ***,La-MOF nanoparticles display high selectivity and sensitivity for Fe^(3+)*** quenching constant and limit of detection are 5.29×10^(3)(mol·L^(-1))^(-1) and 0.147 μmol·L^(-1),respectively,thus surpassing many advanced Fe^(3+) *** to the result of density functional theory,the high Fe^(3+) detection performance of La-MOF is related to the complexing of Fe^(3+)with La-MOF,which leads to the gradual dissociation of the coordination bond between terephthalic acid and La^(3+).It is anticipated that the mechanochemistry milling-based wasteto-MOF strategy provides a new platform for the massive production of functional MOFs in a green manner.

Considerable spring precipitation occurs over South China(SC),a region that is adjacent to large-scale Asian topography and *** reasonable simulation is crucial for improving regional climate *** study investigates spring precipitation biases over SC and their possible causes in atmosphere-only and coupled Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System finite-volume version 3(FGOALS-f3) models with different horizontal *** performance of spring precipitation simulation over SC varies across different FGOALS-f3 model versions,with the best reproducibility in the high-resolution coupled model(25 km).In the low-resolution atmosphere-only model(100–125 km),the precipitation dry bias over SC is closely linked to overestimated surface sensible forcing over the eastern Tibetan Plateau(TP),which weakens the subtropical anticyclone over the western Pacific(SAWP) through regional circulation *** contrast,the high-resolution atmosphere-only model further amplifies surface thermal forcing in the Asian continents,causing intensified land–sea thermal contrast between the Southeast Asian continents and western Pacific,enhanced southerly winds and SAWP,and increased water vapor transport into ***,the reduced middle–high level cold bias over 10°–30°N in the high-resolution atmosphere-only model intensifies the East Asian westerly jet and ascent over SC,leading to enhanced spring precipitation *** high-resolution coupled model simulation not only reduces sea surface cold bias over the Bay of Bengal,thus intensifying the Indian–Burma trough and strengthening low-level water vapor transport into SC,but also enhances ascent over *** a result,the high-resolution coupled model better reproduces the magnitude and pattern of spring precipitation over SC than its atmosphere-only *** with low-resolution models,the domain-mean spring precipitation dry bias decreases by 11.2% over SC in the high-resolution atmosphere-only mod
