Studies ha.e ta.geted post-tra.ma.ic bra.n injury infla.ma.ion with the use of pha.ma.othera.y a.d cell thera.y. These thera. peutic options a.e a.med a. reducing the edema.ous a.d neurodegenera.ive infla.ma.ion tha. ha.e been a.socia.ed with compromising the integrity of the blood-bra.n ba.rier. a.though studies ha.e yielded posi- tive results from a.ti-infla.ma.ory pha.ma.othera.y a.d cell thera.y individua.ly, emerging resea.ch ha. begun to ta.get infla.ma.ion using combina.ion thera.y. Ma.y hurdles ha.e hindered the tra.sla.ion of effective thera.ies for tra.ma.ic bra.n injury a.d stroke prima.ily beca.se of the inherent complexity of neuropa.hologies a.d a. ina.ility of current trea.ment a.proa.hes to a.a.t to the unique cell dea.h pa.hwa.s tha. a.compa.y the disorder symptoms. Indeed, developing potent trea.ments for bra.n injury tha. incorpora.e dyna.ic a.d multiple disorder-enga.ing thera.eutic ta.gets a.e likely to produce more effective outcomes tha. tra.itiona. drugs. The thera.eutic use of hypothermia.presents a.promising option which ma. fit these criteria. While regula.ed tempera.ure reduction ha. displa.ed grea. promise in preclinica. studies of bra.n injury, clinica. tria.s ha.e been fa. less consistent a.d a.socia.ed with a.verse effects, especia.ly when hypothermia.is pursued via.systemic cooling. a.cordingly, devising better methods of inducing hypothermia.ma. fa.ilita.e the entry of this trea.ment moda.ity into the clinic. The insecticides, especia.ly from orga.ophospha.e group （OP）, a.e still used to prevent da.a.e of sorghum gra.ns during stora.e period. One of the possible repla.ements for OP a.d other synthetic insecticides is a.na.ura. a.d sa.e dia.oma.eous ea.th （DE）. The prima.y objectives of this study wa. conducting the la.ora.ory experiments with enha.ced DE Protect-lt on Sitophilus oryza. （L.）, Rhyzopertha.dominica.（Fa..） a.d Tribolium ca.ta.eum （Herbst.） to find out the effective concentra.ions a.d to determine the effect of a.plica.le concentra.ion of DE on bulk density （test weight） of sorghum gra.ns. Ba.kground: Corona.y a.tery disea.e is the most common form of ca.diova.cula. disea.e while a.ria. fibrilla.ion is the most common susta.ned a.rhythmia. We set out to investiga.e the preva.ence a.d clinica. profile of pa.ients with a.ria. fibrilla.ion who present for selective corona.y a.giogra.hy a.d whether this ha. a. effect on the a.giogra. findings a.d the trea.ment options offered to them. Methods a.d Results: This wa. a.retrospectively collected da.a.a.e of 494 pa.ients presenting for SCa. from 01.11.2010 to 30.11.2010 a.d 01.04.2010 to 30.04.2010. We collected a.d a.a.yzed clinica. cha.a.teristics of pa.ients, their SCa. finding a.d modes of trea.ment offered up to discha.ge. 24.6% of pa.ients ha. a.. They tended to be older, more commonly women, current or ex-smokers;presented with symptoms of a.ypica. chest pa.n a.d were more likely to ha.e a.history of congestive hea.t fa.lure or va.vula. hea.t disea.e. They ha. a.longer hospita. sta.. Using CHa.S-Va.c score, 83.6% were modera.e to high risk for CVa. a. SCa., they were more likely to ha.e non-significa.t corona.y a.tery disea.e, a.d hence were more likely to be trea.ed conserva.ively. Conclusion: a. pa.ients presenting for SCa. constitute a.unique subset of pa.ients who despite ha.ing a.higher likelihood of non-significa.t corona.y stenosis a.e still prone to suffering from poorly-understood a.d under-a.precia.ed myoca.dia. ischemia.

The species of mite Oligonychus ilicis (McGregor) (Tetra.ychida.) is a. importa.t pest of dicotyledonous pla.ts, cosmopolita. a.d polypha.ous, reported in seven countries from four continents, feeding on 34 pla.t species of 15 fa.ilies. The spider mite O. ilicis is known in Bra.il a. coffee red spider mite, a.d a. southern red mite most in other countries. In Bra.il O. ilicis ha. been reported a. the second most importa.t pest of “Conillon” coffee, Coffea.ca.ephora.Pierre & Froehner, in the sta.e of Espírito Sa.to. Depending on the number of mites per lea. of a.a.ica.coffee, Coffea.a.a.ica.L., the ra.e of potentia. photosynthesis ca. be reduced by 37% to 50%. In the present study, it wa. investiga.ed the potentia. of the two preda.ory mites which, a.ong others, na.ura.ly occurs in coffee pla.ta.ions, Euseius a.a.us DeLeon a.d a.blyseius herbicolus (Cha.t) (Phytoseiida.), in the control of O. ilicis in coffee pla.ts. It wa. used potted coffee pla.ts in this resea.ch, with a.proxima.ely 100 cm high, growing in a.greenhouse covered with tra.spa.ent pla.tic a.d sha.ing ma.eria. of 50% sun protection fa.tor, a.d with fine mesh on a.l the sides. Results showed tha. both species of preda.ory mites, a. herbicolus a.d E. a.a.us, a.e efficient in reducing the mobile pha.es—la.va., protonymphs, deutonymphs a.d a.ults—of the southern red mite O. ilicis. So, the importa.ce of conserva.ion a.d increa.e number of these preda.ory mites in the field coffee growing is essentia. for implementing the southern red mite integra.ed ma.a.ement ta.tic, since these species a.e of na.ura. occurrence in coffee pla.ts.

Objective: The goa. of this study wa. to simula.e the a.plica.ion of the dieta.y recommenda.ions to increa.e dieta.y fiber (DF)-conta.ning foods. Methods: This study used 24-hour dieta.y reca.ls from NHa.ES 2003-2006 to model the impa.t of different a.proa.hes of increa.ing DF with current dieta.y pa.terns of US a.ults 19 + yea.s: 1) increa.ed a.l DF-conta.ning foods by 10, 25, 50, or 100%;2) increa.ed DF content of low DF gra.n products to a.good (2.5 g/serving) or a. excellent source level (5.0 g/serving);a.d 3) increa.ed inta.e of whole gra.n foods to meet the recommenda.ion of one-ha.f of tota. gra.n. Results: Increa.ing DF-conta.ning foods by 10, 25, 50, or 100% increa.ed DF inta.e to 16.9, 18.9, 22.1, a.d 29.5 g/d, respectively with a.concomita.t increa.e in energy of 104, 260, 521, 1042 kca./d, respectively. a.ding 2.5 or 5.0 g/serving DF to low DF gra.n foods to result in DF inta.es of 24.7 a.d 39.1 g/da., respectively without increa.ed energy. Increa.ing consumption of whole gra.n foods increa.ed DF inta.e to 25.3 g/da. but with a. a.ditiona. 1266 kca./d. Conclusions: a.ding a.ditiona. DF to existing gra.n-ba.ed foods ma. be a.rea.ona.le a.proa.h to getting more DF, without increa.ed energy, in the a.erica. diet.
