MoS_(2)is a promising electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction and a good candidate for cocatalyst to enhance the photoelectrochemical(PEC)performance of Si-based photoelectrode in aqueous *** main challenge lies in the optimization of the microstructure of MoS_(2),to improve its catalytic activity and to construct a mechanically and chemically stable cocatalyst/Si *** this paper,a highly-ordered mesoporous MoS_(2)was synthesized and decorated onto a TiO_(2)protected p-silicon *** additional TiO_(2)necking was introduced to strengthen the bonding between the MoS_(2)particles and the TiO_(2)*** meso-MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/p-Si hybrid photocathode exhibited significantly enhanced PEC performance,where an onset potential of+0.06 V(versus RHE)and a current density of-1.8 mA/cm^(2)at 0 V(versus RHE)with a Faradaic efficiency close to 100%was achieved in 0.5 mol/L H_(2)SO_(4).Additionally,this meso-MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/p-Si photocathode showed an excellent PEC ability and durability in alkaline *** paper provides a promising strategy to enhance and protect the photocathode through high-performance surface cocatalysts.

Virus-like particle(VLP) vaccines had shown great potential during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was thought to be the next generation of antiviral vaccine technology due to viromimetic structures. However,the time-consuming and complicated processes in establishing a current recombinant-protein–based VLP vaccine has limited its quick launch to the out-bursting pandemic. To simplify and optimize VLP vaccine design, we herein report a kind of viromimetic polymer nanoparticle vaccine(VPNVax), with subunit receptor-binding domain(RBD) proteins conjugated to the surface of polyethylene glycol-b-polylactic acid(PEG-b-PLA) nanoparticles for vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. The preparation of VPNVax based on synthetic polymer particle and chemical post-conjugation makes it possible to rapidly replace the antigens and construct matched vaccines at the emergence of different viruses. Using this modular preparation system, we identified that VPNVax with surface protein coverage of 20%–25% had the best immunostimulatory activity, which could keep high levels of specific antibody titers over 5 months and induce virus neutralizing activity when combined with an aluminum adjuvant. Moreover, the polymer nano-vectors could be armed with more immune-adjuvant functions by loading immunostimulant agents or chemical chirality design. This VPNVax platform provides a novel kind of rapidly producing and efficient vaccine against different variants of SARS-CoV-2 as well as other viral pandemics.

A series of CoxMgxO/Al2O3/FeCrAl catalysts （x=0-1） were prepared. The structures of the catalysts were characterized using XRD, SEM, and TPR analyses. The catalytic activity of the catalysts for methane combustion was evaluated in a continuous flow microreactor. The results indicated that the active washcoats adhered well on the FeCrAl foils. The phases in the catalysts were Co--xMgxO solid solutions, α-Al2O3, and γ-Al2O3. The surface particle size of the catalysts varied with variations in the molar ratios of Co to Mg. The Co component of the Co1_xMgxO/Al2O3/FeCrAl catalysts played an important role in the catalytic activity for methane combustion. In the Co1-xMgxO/AluO3/FeCrAl series catalyst （x=0.2-0.8）, the catalytic activity in terms of x was in the order of 0.5〉0.2〉0.8 under the experimental conditions. The presence of Mg in these catalysts could promote the thermal stability to a large extent. There were strong interactions between the Co1-xMgxO oxides and the AluO3/FeCrAl supports.

A semi-physical sediment yield model for estimation of suspended sediment in loess region

Sediment yield is a complex function of many environmental factors including climate,hydrology,vegetation,basin topography,soil types,and land *** present a new semi-physical watershed sediment yield model for the estimation of suspended sediment in loess *** model is composed by three modules in slope,gully,and stream *** slope sediment yield,a balance equation is established based on the concept of hydraulic erosion capacity and soil erosion resistance *** to the statistical analysis of watershed characteristics,we use an exponential curve to approximately describe the spatial variability of watershed soil erosion resistance *** gully phase,the relationship between gully sediment concentration and flow velocity is established based on the Bagnold’ stream power *** the stream phase,we assume a linear dependence of the sediment volume in the reach on the weighted sediment input and *** proposed sediment yield model is operated in conjunction with a conceptual hydrologic model,and is tested over 16 regions including testing grounds,and small,medium and large watersheds in the loess plateau region in the mid-reach of Yellow *** results indicate that the model is reasonable in structure and is able to provide a good simulation of sediment generation and transportation processes at both flood event scale and inter-annual time *** proposed model is generally applicable to the watersheds with soil texture similar to that of the loess plateau region in the Yellow River basin in China.

The lethal chronic airway infection of the cystic fibrosis(CF) patients is predisposed by colonization of specific CF-philic pathogens or the CF microbiomes, but key processes and reasons of the microbiome settlement in the patients are yet to be fully understood, especially their survival and metabolic dynamics from normal to diseased status under treatment. Here, we report our meta-analysis results on CF airway microbiomes based on metabolic networks reconstructed from genome information at species level. The microbiomes of CF patients appear to engage much more redox-related activities than those of controls, and by constructing a large dataset of anti-oxidative stress(anti-OS) genes, our quantitative evaluation of the anti-OS capacity of each bacterial species in the CF microbiomes confirms strong conservation of the anti-OS responses within genera and also shows that the CF pathogens have significantly higher anti-OS capacity than commensals and other typical respiratory pathogens. In addition, the anti-OS capacity of a relevant species correlates with its relative fitness for the airways of CF patients over that for the airways of ***, the total anti-OS capacity of the respiratory microbiome of CF patients is collectively higher than that of controls, which increases with disease progression, especially after episodes of acute exacerbation and antibiotic treatment. According to these results, we propose that the increased OS in the airways of CF patients may play an important role in reshaping airway microbiomes to a more resistant status that favors the pre-infection colonization of the CF pathogens for a higher anti-OS capacity.

Selection of aptamers with high affinity and good specificity requires multiple rounds of alternating steps of separation and PCR ***,we proposed a novel high-efficiency aptamers picking strategy:One-round pressure controllable selection(OPCS).OPCS integrates four types of screening superiority,high-efficiency separation,one-round selection and PCR amplification,synchronous negative selection and targets *** controllable screening pressure can be achieved through two approaches,balanced competition by the regulation of protein concentration,and dominant competition by introducing a predatory protein with high *** OPCS process,two proteins were co-incubated with one ssDNA library,and each protein bound its favorable sequences specifically and formed protein-ss D NA complex re ***,one protein could supply/sufferthe picking pressure of affinity and specificity to/from another,which eliminated weakly bound or unbound sequences for each *** complexes could be separated and collected conveniently,and aptamers for two proteins obtained synchronously with high affinity and good *** strategy not only provides a more effective way for aptamers selection,but shows great potential in other ligands or drugs selection.
