Planar Na ion micro-supercapacitors(NIMSCs) that offer both high energy density and power density are deemed to a promising class of miniaturized power sources for wearable and portable microelectron-ics. Nevertheless, the development of NIMSCs are hugely impeded by the low capacity and sluggish Na ion kinetics in the negative electrode.Herein, we demonstrate a novel carbon-coated Nb_(2)O_5 microflower with a hierarchical structure composed of vertically intercrossed and porous nanosheets, boosting Na ion storage performance. The unique structural merits, including uniform carbon coating, ultrathin nanosheets and abun-dant pores, endow the Nb_(2)O_5 microflower with highly reversible Na ion storage capacity of 245 mAh g^(-1) at 0.25 C and excellent rate capability.Benefiting from high capacity and fast charging of Nb_(2)O_5 microflower, the planar NIMSCs consisted of Nb_(2)O_5 negative electrode and activated car-bon positive electrode deliver high areal energy density of 60.7 μWh cm^(-2),considerable voltage window of 3.5 V and extraordinary cyclability. Therefore, this work exploits a structural design strategy towards electrode materials for application in NIMSCs, holding great promise for flexible microelectronics.

Elucidating the genetic basis of natural variation in grain size and weight among rice varieties can help breeders develop high-yielding varieties.We identified a novel gene,GW3a(Grain Weight 3a)(LOC_Os03g27350),that affects rice grain size and weight.gw3a mutants showed higher total starch content and dry matter accumulation than the wild type(WT),Nipponbare,suggesting that GW3a negatively regulates grain size and weight.Moreover,our study found that GW3a interacted with OsATG8 by cleaving it,suggesting that GW3a may be involved in the assembly of autophagosomes and starch degradation in plants.The haplotype analysis of GW3a showed functional differences between indica and japonica rice.Taken together,we conclude that GW3a is expressed in the autophagosome pathway regulating starch metabolism in rice,affecting yield-related traits,such as grain size,grain weight and thousand grain weight(TGW).Our findings also shed new light on autophagy-mediated yield trait regulation,proposing a possible strategy for the genetic improvement of high-yield germplasm in rice.

Background:A phase II trial on recombinant human tenecteplase tissue-type plasminogen activator(rhTNK-tPA)has previously shown its preliminary efficacy in ST elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)patients.This study was designed as a pivotal postmarketing trial to compare its efficacy and safety with rrecombinant human tissue-type plasminogen activator alteplase(rt-PA)in Chinese patients with STEMI.Methods:In this multicenter,randomized,open-label,non-inferiority trial,patients with acute STEMI were randomly assigned(1:1)to receive an intravenous bolus of 16 mg rhTNK-tPA or an intravenous bolus of 8 mg rt-PA followed by an infusion of 42 mg in 90 min.The primary endpoint was recanalization defined by thrombolysis in myocardial infarction(TIMI)flow grade 2 or 3.The secondary endpoint was clinically justified recanalization.Other endpoints included 30-day major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events(MACCEs)and safety endpoints.Results:From July 2016 to September 2019,767 eligible patients were randomly assigned to receive rhTNK-tPA(n=384)or rt-PA(n=383).Among them,369 patients had coronary angiography data on TIMI flow,and 711 patients had data on clinically justified recanalization.Both used a–15%difference as the non-inferiority efficacy margin.In comparison to rt-PA,both the proportion of patients with TIMI grade 2 or 3 flow(78.3%[148/189]vs.81.7%[147/180];differences:–3.4%;95%confidence interval[CI]:–11.5%,4.8%)and clinically justified recanalization(85.4%[305/357]vs.85.9%[304/354];difference:–0.5%;95%CI:–5.6%,4.7%)in the rhTNK-tPA group were non-inferior.The occurrence of 30-day MACCEs(10.2%[39/384]vs.11.0%[42/383];hazard ratio:0.96;95%CI:0.61,1.50)did not differ significantly between groups.No safety outcomes significantly differed between groups.Conclusion:rhTNK-tPA was non-inferior to rt-PA in the effect of improving recanalization of the infarct-related artery,a validated surrogate of clinical outcomes,among Chinese patients with acute STEMI.Trial registration:www.ClinicalTrials.gov(No.NCT028355

Rapid capacity decay and sluggish reaction kinetics are major barriers hindering the applications of manganese-based cathode materials for aqueous zinc-ion batteries.Herein,the effects of crystal plane on the in-situ transformation behavior and electrochemical performance of manganese-based cathode is discussed.A comprehensive discussion manifests that the exposed(100)crystal plane is beneficial to the phase transformation from tunnel-structured MnO_(2) to layer-structured ZnMn_(3)O_(7)·3H_(2)O,which plays a critical role for the high reactivity,high capacity,fast diffusion kinetics and long cycling stability.Additionally,a two-stage zinc storage mechanism can be demonstrated,involving continuous activation reaction and phase transition reaction.As expected,it exhibits a high capacity of 275 mAh g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1),a superior durability over 1000 cycles and good rate capability.This study may open new windows toward developing advanced cathodes for ZIBs,and facilitate the applications of ZIBs in large-scale energy storage system.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the most common pathogen in hospital and community environments, can cause serious and even fatal infections. The antibiotics currently used for clinical treatment of MRSA have developed resistance, and there is an urgent need to develop new antimicrobials to treat infections caused by MRSA strains. Quinoline analogues play an important role in the development of antimicrobials. Herein, we discussed the current development of antibacterial activities of quinoline analogues, mainly for anti-MRSA activity, and their structure-activity relationships (SARs) from the perspective of using the quinoline nucleus to search for novel potential anti-MRSA candidates. Additionally, the mechanisms of some representative quinoline analogues against MRSA were clarified. Altogether, this review could provide further insights for the rational development of quinoline-based antibacterial drugs, especially against MRSA.

The oxygenation of Earth’s atmosphere is widely regarded to have played an important role in early-life evolution.Chromium(Cr) isotopes recorded in sedimentary rocks have been used to constrain the atmospheric oxygen level(AOL) over geological times based on the fact that a positive Cr isotopic signature is linked to the presence of Cr(Ⅵ) as a result of oxidative continental weathering.However,there is no direct evidence of the presence of Cr(Ⅵ) in sedimentary rocks yet.Carbonates are most widely distributed over geological times and were thought to have incorporated Cr(Ⅵ) directly from seawater.Here,we present results of Cr valence states in carbonates which show Cr(Ⅲ) is the dominant species in all samples spanning a wide range of geological times.These findings indicate that Cr(Ⅵ) in seawater was reduced either before or after carbonate precipitation,which might have caused Cr isotopic fractionation between seawater and carbonates,or marine carbonates preferentially uptake Cr(Ⅲ) from seawater.As Cr(Ⅲ) can come from non-redox Cr cycling,which also can cause isotopic fractionation,we suggest that positively fractionated Cr isotopic values do not necessarily correspond to the rise in AOL.

Simultaneous regulation of cations and anions in an electrolyte for high-capacity, high-stability aqueous zinc–vanadium batteries

Safe,inexpensive aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)are regarded as promising energy storage devices.However,they still face issues,including dissolution and collapse of the cathode as well as H_(2)evolution and the growth of Zn dendrites on the Zn anode.Herein,we simultaneously regulate the cations and anions in the electrolyte for high-capacity,high-stability aqueous zinc–vanadium(Zn–V)batteries based on a bimetallic cation-doped Na_(0.33)K_(0.1)V_(2)O_(5)·nH_(2)O cathode.We demonstrate that Na^(+) cations suppress cathode dissolution and restrain Zn dendrite growth on the anode via an electrostatic shield effect.We also illustrate that ClO_(4)^(-) anions participate in energy storage at the cathode and are reduced to Cl^(-),generating a protective layer on the Zn anode surface and providing a stable interface to decrease Zn dendrites and H_(2)evolution during long-term cycling.When Na^(+) and ClO_(4)^(-) are introduced into an aqueous ZnSO_(4) electrolyte,a Zn/Zn symmetric cell shows durable and reversible Zn stripping/plating for 1500 h at a current density of 1 mA cm^(-2) and with an area capacity of 1 mAh cm^(-2).Zn/Na_(0.33)K_(0.1)V_(2)O_(5)·nH_(2)O full batteries exhibit a high capacity of 600 mAh g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1) and long-term cycling performance for 5000 cycles,with a capacity of 200 mAh g^(-1) at 20 Ag^(-1).

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Injections(TCMIs) for treatment of primary liver cancer(PLC).METHODS:A literature review was conducted using PubMed/Medline,Cochrane Library Controlled Clinical Trials Database,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),China Scientific Journal Database(CSJD) and China Biology Medicine(CBM).Online websites including journal websites and databases of ongoing trials,as well as some Traditional Chinese Medicine journals that are not indexed in the electronic databases were also searched.RESULTS:The literature review showed that TCMIs as adjunctive medication for the treatment of PLC could regulate patient immunity,reduce bone marrow suppression,relieve clinical symptoms,and improve quality of life,as well as control disease progression and prolong survival time.CONCLUSION:Within the limitations of this review,we conclude that application of TCMIs as adjunctive medication may provide benefits for patients with PLC.Further large,high-quality trials are warranted.

ThERF1 regulates its target genes via binding to a novel cis-acting element in response to salt stress

Ethylene responsive factors (ERFs) are plant-specific transcription factors that are involved in a variety of biological processes. We previously demonstrated that an ERF gene from Tamarix hispida, ThERF1, encodes a protein binding to GCC-box and DRE motifs and negatively modulates abiotic stress tolerance. In the present study, microarray analysis was performed to study the genes regulated by ThERF1 on a genomic scale. There were 154 and 307 genes (respectively representing 134 and 260 unique genes) significantly up- and downregulated by ThERF1 under salt stress conditions, respectively. A novel motif, named TTG, was identified to be recognized by ThERF1, which commonly presents in the promoters of ThERF1-targeted genes. The TTG motif is also bound by other ERFs of a different subfamily from T. hispida and Arabidopsis, indicating that it is commonly recognized by ERF proteins. The binding affinities of ERFs to the TTG motif are significantly induced by salt stress. The TTG motif is more enriched than the GCC-box and DRE motifs in the promoters of ThERF1-targeted genes. Taken together, these studies suggested that the TTG motif plays an important role in the gene expression regulated by ERFs in response to salt stress.
