Primary liver cancer, of which hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents the vast majority of cases, is the second highest cause of cancer-related death world-wide (1). HCC typically occurs in the context of chronic liver injury due to chronic diseases, including: viral hepatitis;alcoholic liver disease and;obesity-related non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progressive, inflammatory form;non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Due to the liver’s unique regenerative ability, chronic injury is coupled with chronic repair, which, over time, leads to the accumulation of repair-related deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, resulting in liver fibrosis. Fibrosis is mediated primarily by the proliferation of the normally quiescent hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and their secretion of ECM proteins. Because HCC occurrence generally coincides with fibrosis and cirrhosis, it has commonly been accepted that these phenomena play a role in HCC progression. However, while viral hepatitis was classically the major cause of HCC, and can occur almost exclusively in parallel with fibrosis, NAFLD is emerging as a major determinant of HCC due to rising global obesity, and can occur in the absence of fibrosis and cirrhosis (2).

In this study, a potentially universal new strategy is reported for the large-scale, low-cost fabrication of visible-light-active highly ordered heteronanostructures based on the spontaneous photoelectric-field-enhancement effect inherent in pyramidal morphology. The hierarchical vertically oriented arrayed structures comprise an active molecular co-catalyst at the apex of a visible-light-active large band gap semiconductor for low-cost solar water splitting in a neutral aqueous medium without the use of a sacrificial agent.

The Finite-Element Method(FEM) is mainly used to design Compact Heat Exchanger structures. However, the narrow channel structures require fine mesh to accurately compute stress and strain. Combined with the dimensions of the overall component, this leads to an excessively large numerical model and therefore long computing time. This is especially true for transient thermal analyses, which require taking into account the full geometry. It is therefore interesting to reduce the size of the mesh. Periodic homogenization is an efficient method for achieving this goal. It can be applied to the core of the structure when periodic patterns(identified on basis of the arrangement of the channels) exist. A method based on this technique, with some improvements, is proposed in this paper for thermal loading without internal pressure. In addition to the Equivalent Homogenous Medium(EHM) replacing the periodic patterns, some explicit channels are interposed between the EHM and the cover plates. This has two advantages. The first is to smooth the transition of stiffness between the cover plates and the homogenized medium. The second one is to be able to directly compute stress and strain on the most critical channels located in this area. This paper assesses the method’s effectiveness for thermal loadings in order to conduct thermal stress analyses. First, the equivalent elastic constants of the EHM are obtained with a numerical Finite Elements Method. Then, two 2D cases using EHM are compared against a 2D explicit model(i.e. explicit geometry for the core channels). These cases are chosen to validate the EHM itself and its effectiveness for a real section of the heat exchanger. Results show very good agreement with a relative difference lower than 1%. In addition, the sensitivity to the number of layers added between the EHM and the cover plates is analysed. It is recommended interposing at least two layers of patterns to obtain converged results for the considered configuration

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement through negativity and witness operators in a system of four noninteracting qubits driven by a classical phase noisy laser characterized by a classical random external field(CREF).The qubits are initially prepared in the GHZ-type and W-type states and interact with the CREF in two different qubit-field configurations,namely,common environment and independent environments in which the cases of equal and different field phase probabilities are *** find that entanglement exhibits different decaying behavior,depending on the input states of the qubits,the qubit-field coupling configuration,and field phase *** the one hand,we demonstrate that the coupling of the qubits in a common environment is an alternative and more efficient strategy to completely shield the system from the detrimental impacts of the decoherence process induced by a CREF,independent of the input state and the field phase probabilities ***,we show that GHZ-type states have strong dynamics under CREF as compared to W-type *** the other hand,we demonstrate that in the model investigated the system robustness’s can be greatly improved by increasing the number of qubits constituting the system.
