BACKGROUND Thumb replantation following complete traumatic avulsion requires complex techniques to restore function,especially in cases of avulsion at the level of the metacarpophalangeal joint(MCP I)and avulsion of the flexor pollicis longus(FPL)at the musculotendinous *** treatments include direct tendon suture or tendon transfer,most commonly from the ring *** optimize function and avoid donor finger complications,we performed thumb replantation with flexion restoration using brachioradialis(BR)tendon transfer with palmaris longus(PL)tendon *** SUMMARY A 20-year-old left-handed male was admitted for a complete traumatic left thumb amputation following an accident while sliding from the top of a *** patient presented with skin and bone avulsion at the MCP I,avulsion of the FPL tendon at the musculotendinous junction(zone 5),avulsion of the extensor pollicis longus tendon(zone T3),and avulsion of the thumb’s collateral arteries and *** patient was treated with two stage thumb *** first intervention consisted of thumb replantation with MCP I arthrodesis,resection of avulsed FPL tendon and implantation of a silicone tendon *** second intervention consisted of PL tendon graft and BR tendon ***-up at 10 months showed good outcomes with active interphalangeal flexion of 70°,grip strength of 45 kg,key pinch strength of 15 kg and two-point discrimination threshold of 4 *** Flexion restoration after complete thumb amputation with FPL avulsion at the musculotendinous junction can be achieved using BR tendon transfer with PL tendon graft.

Flaviviruses are a genus of mostly arthropod-borne RNA viruses that cause a range of pathologies in *** knowledge on flaviviruses is rapidly expanding,partly due to their status as frequent emerging or re-emerging *** include the dengue,Zika,West Nile,tick-borne encephalitis and yellow fever viruses(DENV,ZIKV,WNV,TBEV and YFV,respectively).As is the case with other families of viruses,the success of productive infection of human cells by flaviviruses depends in part on the antiviral activity of a heterogeneous group of cellular antiviral proteins called restriction *** factors are the effector proteins of the cell-autonomous innate response against viruses,an immune pathway that also includes virus sensors as well as intracellular and extracellular signal mediators such as type I interferons(IFN-I).In this review,I summarize recent progress toward the identification and characterization of flavivirus restriction *** particular,I focus on IFI6,Schlafen 11,FMRP,OAS-RNase L,RyDEN,members of the TRIM family of proteins(TRIM5α,TRIM19,TRIM56,TRIM69 and TRIM79α)and a new mechanism of action proposed for *** and future studies on this topic will lead to a more complete picture of the flavivirus restrictome,defined as the ensemble of cellular factors with demonstrated anti-flaviviral activity.

Time-dependent density functional theory continues to draw a large number of users in a wide range of fields exploring myriad applications involving electronic spectra and *** in principle exact,the predictivity of the calculations is limited by the available approximations for the exchange-correlation *** particular,it is known that the exact exchange-correlation functional has memory-dependence,but in practise adiabatic approximations are used which ignore *** we review the development of non-adiabatic functional approximations,their impact on calculations,and challenges in developing practical and accurate memory-dependent functionals for general purposes.

This paper addresses the problem of synchronized path following of multiple homogenous underaetuated autonomous underwater vehicles （AUVs）. The dedicated control laws are categorized into two envelopes： One is steering individual underwater vehicle to track along predefined path, and the other is ensuring tracked paths of multiple vehicles to be synchronized, by means of decentralized speed adaption under the constraints of multi-vehicle communication topology. With these two tasks formulation, geometric path following is built on Lyapunov theory and baekstepping techniques, while injecting helmsman behavior into classic individual path following control. Synchronization of path parameters are reached by using a mixture of tools from linear algebra, graph theory and nonlinear control theory. A simple but effective control design on direct inter-vehicle speed adaption with minimized communication variables, enables the multi-AUV systems to be synchronized and stabilized into an invariant manifold, and all speeds converge to desired assignments as a byproduct. Simulation results illustrate the performance of the synchronized path following control laws proposed.

BACKGROUND Tacrolimus(TAC)is metabolized primarily by the CYP3A-encoded enzyme family(CYP3A4,CYP3A5,and CYP3A7).Individuals expressing the CYP3A51 allele are considered fast metabolizers and generally require higher TAC doses to reach therapeutic *** To evaluate the predictive value of the TAC concentration-to-dose(C0/D)ratio for identifying CYP3A5 poly-morphisms in renal transplant *** Eighty-six de novo kidney transplant recipients with TAC-based immunosuppression from the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis at Military Hospital 103(Hanoi,Vietnam)were included in this retrospective *** samples were collected within the first week post-transplantation to monitor TAC levels and to perform genotyping for CYP3A5 genetic *** The CYP3A53/3 genotype was identified in 37 patients(43%),CYP3A51/3 in 40 patients(46.5%),and CYP3A51/1 in 9 patients(10.5%).Patients carrying the CYP3A51/3 or CYP3A51/1 genotype,classified as fast metabolizers(CYP3A5 expressers),had significantly lower TAC C0 concentrations and C0/D ratios compared to slow meta-bolizers(CYP3A53/3 genotype)at multiple time points during follow-up(all P<0.001).Notably,the TAC C0/D ratio obtained on day 1(0.91)was shown to predict CYP3A5 polymorphism with a sensitivity of 84.6%and a specificity of 84.6%.CONCLUSION This study demonstrates that the TAC C0/D ratio provides a reliable predictive value for CYP3A5 polymorphisms,which can be used to individualize TAC dosing in renal transplant recipients in Vietnam and other low-income countries.

In the rising tide of the Internet of things, more and more things in the world are connected to the Internet. Recently, data have kept growing at a rate more than four times of that expected in Moore＇s law. This explosion of data comes from various sources such as mobile phones, video cameras and sensor networks, which often present multidi- mensional characteristics. The huge amount of data brings many challenges on the management, transportation, and pro- cessing IT infrastructures. To address these challenges, the state-of-art large scale data center networks have begun to provide cloud services that are increasingly prevalent. How- ever, how to build a good data center remains an open chal- lenge. Concurrently, the architecture design, which signifi- cantly affects the total performance, is of great research inter- est. This paper surveys advances in data center network de- sign. In this paper we first introduce the upcoming trends in the data center industry. Then we review some popular design principles for today＇s data center network architectures. In the third part, we present some up-to-date data center frame- works and make a comprehensive comparison of them. Dur- ing the comparison, we observe that there is no so-called op- timal data center and the design should be different referring to the data placement, replication, processing, and query pro- cessing. After that, several existing challenges and limitations are discussed. According to these observations, we point out some possible future research directions.

A heat transfer study was conducted,in the framework of Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD),on a Hot-Wire Chemical Vapour Deposition(HWCVD)reactor chamber to determine a safe deposition distance for atomic hydrogen produced by *** objective of this study was to show the feasibility of using heat transfer simulations in determining a safe deposition distance for deposition of this *** CFD simulations were set-up and solved within the framework of the CFD packages of OpenFOAM namely;snappyHexMesh for mesh generation,buoyantSimpleFoam and rhoSimpleFoam as the solvers and paraView as the post-processing *** a standard set of deposition parameters for the production of atomic hydrogen by HWCVD,plots of the gas temperature in the deposition region were *** these plots,we were able to determine a safe deposition distance in the HWCVD reactor to be in the range between 3 and 4 cm from the filament.

Sediment bed destabilization by an isolated vortex:an experimental approach

The destabilization of an erodible sediment bed by a reproducible impulsive phenomenon is studied *** this,a specific setup is designed to produce a well-controlled isolated vortex,advected over a uniform sand *** image velocimetry(PIV)measurements are performed to get fluid flow information;suspended particles images are also recorded.A new measurement technique,based on a stereo-correlation method,provides a precise reconstruction of the bedform morphology over *** turbulent structures(namely sweep events)are evidenced in a near-wall region,where particles are mainly *** sediment plume follows the vortex:in particular,the upward velocity inside maintains the suspension ***,the dispersion process seems to be not dependent on the vortex ***,the bed morphology is investigated:a scour hole is dug as the vortex hits the granular *** dynamics is described by a typical scour law,even if the initial perturbation is *** area,where the particles settled,can be observed:it behaves like a ripple,with a logarithmic growth of its *** deposition region has a specific geometry,studied here by a Fourier contour ***,a pickup rate is also derived from the morphological data:it appears independent of the vortex and bedform features.
