Pinning synchronization of networked multi-agent systems: spectral analysis

Pinning synchronization of a networked multi-agent system with a directed communication topology is investigated from a spectral analysis approach. Some new types of synchronized regions for networked systems with different nonlinear agent dynamics and inner coupling structures are discovered. The eigenvalue distributions of the coupling and control matrices for different types of directed networks are obtained. The effects of the network topology, pinning density and pinning strength on the network synchronizability are examined through extensive numerical simulations. It is shown that the synchronizability of the pinned network can be effectively improved by increasing pinning density and pinning strength for some types of synchronized regions, whereas too large the pinning density and pinning strength will lead to desynchronization for other types. It is found that directed random networks are not always easier to synchronize than directed small-world networks, and a denser eigenvalue distribution may not always imply better synchronizability.

Weighted complex dynamical networks with heterogeneous delays in both continuous-time and discrete-time domains are controlled by applying local feedback injections to a small fraction of network nodes. Some generic stability criteria ensuring delay-independent stability are derived for such controlled networks in terms of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）, which guarantee that by placing a small number of feedback controllers on some nodes the whole network can be pinned to some desired homogenous states. In some particular cases, a single controller can achieve the control objective. It is found that stabilization of such pinned networks is completely determined by the dynamics of the individual uncoupled node, the overall coupling strength, the inner-coupling matrix, and the smallest eigenvalue of the coupling and control matrix. Numerical simulations of a weighted network composing of a 3-dimensional nonlinear system are finally given for illustration and verification.

The stabilization properties of various typical complex dynamical networks composed of chaotic nodes are theoretically investigated and numerically simulated in detail. Some local stability properties of such pinned networks are derived and the valid stability regions are estimated based on eigenvalue analysis. Numerical simulations of such networks are given to explain why significantly less local controllers are needed by the specifically pinning scheme, which pins the most highly connected nodes in scale-free networks, than that required by the randomly pinning scheme. Also, it is explained why there is no significant difference between the two schemes for controlling random-graph networks and small-world networks.

Noise and time delay are inevitable in real-world networks. In this article, the framework of master stability function is generalized to stochastic complex networks with time-delayed coupling. The focus is on the effects of noise, time delay,and their inner interactions on the network synchronization. It is found that when there exists time-delayed coupling in the network and noise diffuses through all state variables of nodes, appropriately increasing the noise intensity can effectively improve the network synchronizability;otherwise, noise can be either beneficial or harmful. For stochastic networks, large time delays will lead to desynchronization. These findings provide valuable references for designing optimal complex networks in practical applications.

In this paper, a coordinated tracking control problem is studied for coupled nonholonomic mobile robots with limited information of a reference trajectory. A distributed control law with adaptive time-varying gains is proposed to guarantee that the robots can form a prespecified geometric pattern while the centroid of the geometric pattern can track the reference signal. By designing the adaptive control gains, the control algorithm of this paper does not require the global knowledge of the upper bound on the leader’s control input. The stability of the system is proved with the aid of Lyapunov techniques. Finally, a simulation example is presented to verify the theoretical results.

A Tracking Control Scheme for Leader Based Multi-Agent Consensus for Discrete-Time Case

In this study, we explore the distributed weighted average tracking problem within a multi-agent system, considering the impact of communication delays. We begin by designing a control law tailored for distributed weighted average tracking under these delay conditions. Subsequently, we focus on scenarios with slow-varying delays and derive consensus conditions for the multi-agent system. These conditions are presented as linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), establishing a relationship between the control law parameters and delay values. Our findings reveal that the multi-agent system is capable of converging to the weighted average of the reference signals. We further substantiate our theoretical results with illustrative simulation examples.

A new leader-guarding consensus problem for heterogeneous multi-agent system with switching topology in discrete-time domain is ***,a new discrete-time model of heterogeneous and mobile multi-agent system with a motile leader and variable topology is established,where the location information of the active leader is completely known but the acceleration information may not be measured.A neighbor-based pinning control law and a neighbor-based state-estimation rule are proposed for solving the consensus *** consensus protocols under the requirement of virtual connected guarantee that each follower-agent can estimate the leader’s velocity and then track it in a bounded area if the acceleration input of the leader is unknown,where the tracking error can be estimated based on Lyapunov approach.

Comprehensive Summary A family of polyaryl 2-(pyridin-2-yl)phenol-based four-coordinate organoboron complexes were prepared in good yields via deconstructive cycloaromatization of indolizines,cyclopropenones,and boric *** photoluminescence measurements have revealed that these N,Oπ-conjugated tetracoordinate boron complexes display bright fluorescence,large Stokes shifts,and good quantum yields(Φlum=0.15-0.45).In addition,the DFT calculations were carried out to deepen the understanding of the electronic structures and optoelectronic properties of these structurally unprecedented tetracoordinate boron complexes.
