To detect monoamine oxidase B(MAO-B), the level of which is one of the most important indicators of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, a new type of cascade reaction based on the formation of coumarin was applied in this research. After the reaction with MAO-B, the protecting group of hydroxyl group in probes(DEAN-MA and DEAB-MA) was removed, and the fluorescence intensity significantly increased(l_(em) 456 nm) as the structure of coumarin was formed subsequently. The probes showed excellent sensitivity and selectivity to MAO-B. The detection limit of DEAN-MA and DEAB-MA were 0.6ng/mL and 0.2 ng/mL, respectively. We succeeded in detecting MAO-B in vitro and imaging it in human astrocyte(U87).

Triazine herbicides have been widely used in agriculture,but their residues can harm the environment and human *** help monitor these,we have developed an effective immunochromatographic strip test that can simultaneously detect 15 different triazines in grain samples(including ametryn,cyprazine,atraton,prometon,prometryn,atrazine,propazine,terbuthylazine,simetryn,trietazine,secbumeton,simazine,desmetryn,terbumeton and simetone).Based on our optimization procedure,the visual limit of detection(vLOD)for these triazines was found to be 2–10 ng/mL in assay buffer,and 0.02–0.1 mg/kg in grain *** different grain matrices including corn,brown rice,wheat,and sorghum were studied and the test results showed no significant differences between the 15 triazines analyzed using this *** test is simple,convenient,rapid,and low-cost,and could be an effective tool for primary screening of triazine residues in grain samples.

Atmospheric fine particles （PM2.5） were collected in this study with middle volume samplers in Fuzhou, China, during both normal days and haze days in summer （September 2007） and winter （january 2008）. The concentrations, distributions, and sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs）, organic carbon （OC）, elemental carbon （EC）, and water soluble inorganic ions （WSIls） were determinated. The results showed that the concentrations of PM2.s, PAHs, OC, EC, and WSIIs were in the orders of haze 〉 normal and winter〉 summer. The dominant PAHs of PM2.s in Fuzhou were Fluo, Pyr, Chr, BbF, BkF, BaP, BghiP, and IcdP, which represented about 80.0% of the total PAHs during different sampling periods. The BaPeq concentrations of ^-~PAHs were 0.78, 0.99, 1.22, and 2.43 ng/m3 in summer normal, summer haze, winter normal, and winter haze, respectively. Secondary pollutants （SO42 , NO3 , NH4＊, and OC） were the major chemical compositions of PM2.5, accounting for 69.0%, 55.1%, 63.4%, and 64.9% of PM2.s mass in summer normal, summer haze, winter normal, and winter haze, respectively. Correspondingly, secondary organic carbon （SOC） in Fuzhou accounted for 20.1%, 48.6%, 24.5%, and 50.5% of OC. The average values of nitrogen oxidation ratio （NOR） and sulfur oxidation ratio （SOR） were higher in haze days （0.08 and 0.27） than in normal days （0.05 and 0.22）. Higher OC/EC ratios were also found in haze days （5.0） than in normal days （3.3）. Correlation analysis demonstrated that visibility had positive correlations with wind speed, and neg- ative correlations with relative humidity and major air pollutants. Overall, the enrichments of PM2.5, OC, EC, SO42 ,andNO3 promoted haze formation. Furthermore, the diagnostic ratios of IcdP/（IcdP ＋ BghiP）, lcdP/BghiP, OC/EC, and NO3 /SO42 indicated that vehicle exhaust and coal consumption were the main sources of pollutants in Fuzhou.

Evolution of the East China Sea sedimentary environment in the past 14 kyr: Insights from tetraethers-based proxies

We reconstruct the environmental evolution of the East China Sea in the past 14 kyr based on glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers(GDGTs) in a sediment core from the subaqueous Yangtze River Delta. Two primary phases are recognized. Phase I(13.8–8 cal kyr BP) reflects a predominantly continental influence, showing distinctly higher concentrations of branched GDGTs(averaged 143 ng/g dry sediment weight, dsw) than isoprenoid GDGTs(averaged 36 ng/g dsw), high BIT index(branched vs. isoprenoid tetraethers) values(>0.78) and a fluctuating GDGT-0/crenarchaeol ratio(R_(0/5), varied from 0.52 to 3.81). Within this interval, temporal increases of terrestrial and marine influence are attributed to Younger Dryas(YD)(ca. 12.9–12.2 cal kyr BP) cold event and melt-water pulse(MWP)-1B(11.5–11.1 cal kyr BP), respectively. The prominent transition from 8 to 7.9 cal kyr BP shows a sharp decrease in BIT index value(ng of phase II. Afterwards, the proxies remain relatively constant, which indicates that phase II(7.9 cal kyr BP-present) is a shelf sedimentary environment with high stand of sea level. Overall, the BIT index in our record serves as a good marker for terrestrial influence at the site, and likely reflects the flooding history of the region. The TEX_(86)(Tetra Ether Index of tetraethers consisting of 86 carbons) proxy is not applicable in phase I because of an excess terrestrial influence; but it seems to be valid for revealing the annual SST in phase II(21.6±0.9°C, n=49). In contrast, the MBT'/CBT(Methylation of Branched Tetraethers and Cyclization of Branched Tetraethers) proxy appears to faithfully record the annual mean air temperature(MAT)(14.3±0.63°C, n=68) and presents an integrated signal over the middle and lower Yangtze River drainage basin.

Wheat gliadin is one of the most important causes of gluten *** study aimed to develop a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and gold nanoparticle-based lateral flow(LFIA)strips to detect wheat allergen in *** cell screening,ten monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)against gliadin and after optimization were obtained,a pair of mAbs suitable for its detection(capture antibody:mAb 7;detection antibody:HRP-labeled mAb 6)were *** on two of these antibodies,a sandwich ELISA with limit of detection(LOD)of 60 ng/mL in negative milk,and more importantly,negligible cross-reactivity to other allergens was *** average recoveries for gliadin in negative milk were 99.16%-100.07%using the sandwich *** also developed LFIA strips for the rapid detection of gliadin with visual limit of detection(vLOD)of 25 ng/mL and calculated LOD value of 6.56 ng/mL in negative *** test results of positive samples obtained from the LFIA strips were highly consistent with those of the sandwich ***,the developed LFIA strip is an effective and reliable tool for the rapid and on-site detection of wheat allergen in milk.

Development of ic-ELISA and colloidal cold-based immunochromatographic assay for red 2G detection in fruit drinks, red wine, and yoghurts

Red 2G(R2G),a cheap industrial colorant,cannot be added to *** anti-R2G monoclonal antibody(mAb)was prepared by immunizing mice with the conjugate of R2G hapten and protein,which based on the 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide(EDC)*** competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ic-ELISA)and colloidal gold-based immunochromatographic assay(CG-ICA)methods were used to determine R2G in fruit drinks,red wine,and yoghurts.A standard curve of the developed ic-ELISA showed that the IC50 of the anti-R2G mAb was 1.02 ng/mL,and limit of detection value(LOD)was 0.21 ng/*** the CG-ICA developed,the visual limit of detection values(vLOD)were 2 ng/mL and cut-off values of 100 ng/mL in *** results indicated that these two methods could be used to quickly detect R2G in fruit drinks,red wine,and yoghurts.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the major malignancies associated with high mortality rates. Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) alone, or in combination with conventional therapies(CT) has been widely used for patients with HCC in China. This study was aimed to explore how integrative therapy(IT) with the combination of CHM and CT affects the survival of patients with intermediateadvanced HCC. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, China. Data of consecutive patients diagnosed with intermediate-advanced HCC and specific traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic pattern between January 2006 and December 2013 were retrieved from the electronic medical record system at the hospital. Patients were divided into three groups basedon the therapies used, i.e. IT, CHM alone and CT alone, and the survival times of these patients was compared. Results: A total of 328 patients were included in this study. Median follow up period was 26.4 months(95%CI: 22.7-38.9). Median overall survival was 11.0 months for IT, 8.6 months for CHM, and 9.4 months for CT groups(png the factors that impact the prognosis. Stratified analysis shows that IT can significantly lower the risk of death, especially for patients with good performance status(PS) and Child Pugh Class A. Conclusions: It was indicated that the integrative approach with combination of CHM and CT might improve survival for patients with intermediate-advanced HCC, especially for patients with good PS and Child-Pugh class A. However, a randomized control trial is warranted for a conclusive statement.
