BACKGROUND Collision carcinoma is rare in clinical practice, especially in the head and neck region. In this paper, we report a case of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) and neuroendocrine carcinoma(NEC) colliding in the larynx and review 12 cases of collision carcinoma in the head and neck to further understand collision carcinoma, including its definition, diagnosis, and *** SUMMARY A 61-year-old man presented with a 1-year history of hoarseness. Contrastenhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the larynx revealed that the right vocal cord had a nodule-like thickening with obvious enhancement. Laryngoscopy revealed a neoplasm on the right vocal cord, and a malignant tumor was initially considered. A frozen section of right vocal cord was performed under general anesthesia. The pathological result showed a malignant tumor in the right vocal cord. The tumor was excised with a CO_2 laser(Vc type). Routine postoperative pathology showed moderately differentiated SCC with small cell NEC in the right vocal cord. No metastatic lymph nodes or distant metastases were found on postoperative positron emission tomography/computed tomography. Because of the coexistence of SCC and NEC, the patient received adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Evaluation of selective hepatic angiography and embolization in patients with massive hemobilia

Methodology:CT features of five patients with nasal schwannoma proved by operation and pathology were investigated. Results:Schwannomas tend to be solitary and are usually well-circumscribed tumors with an oval,round or fusiform shape in the unilateral nasal *** lesions usually have a mottled central lucency with peripheral intensification on contrast-enhanced CT *** heterogeneous appearance is related to areas of increased vascularity with adjacent non-enhancing cystic or necrotic regions. Conclusions:Schwannoma should be considered in the differential of unusual nasal *** clinical and CT patterns may be of use in the differential diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Massive hemobilia is a rare but potential- ly life-threatening cause of upper gastrointestinal hemor- rhage. Transarterial embolization is considered the first line of intervention to stop the bleeding for most causes of he- mobilia. This study was conducted to evaluate selective he- patic angiography and embolization in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with massive hemobilia. METHODS: The clinical data of 16 patients with massive hemobilia were analyzed retrospectively. These patients un- derwent emergency celiac and selective right or left hepatic artery angiography and treated by embolization using Gel- foam particles and/or coils. RESULTS: Hepatic artery angiography revealed hepatic ar- tery pseudoaneurysms in 6 patients, cystic artery pseudoa- neurysms in 2, diffuse hemorrhage of hepatic artery bran- ches in 5, and right hepatic artery-bile duct fistulae in 3. The patients were diagnosed rapidly by angiography and treated successfully by embolization of the hepatic artery branch proximal to the bleeding point, and hemorrhage was stopped immediately. Two patients were embolized the second time for rebleeding. Neither recurrence of bleeding nor serious complication was found during the fol- low-up for 3 months to 2 years. The other 2 patients whose hemorrhage failed to be controlled died several days later. CONCLUSION: Being safe, reliable and minimally inva- sive , selective hepatic artery angiography and embolization are effective in the diagnosis and treatment of massive he- mobilia.

Cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT) is mostly used for position verification during the treatment process. However,severe image artifacts in CBCT hinder its direct use in dose calculation and adaptive radiation therapy re-planning for proton therapy. In this study, an improved U-Net neural network named CBAM-U-Net was proposed for CBCT noise reduction in proton therapy, which is a CBCT denoised U-Net network with convolutional block attention modules. The datasets contained 20 groups of head and neck images. The CT images were registered to CBCT images as ground truth. The original CBCT denoised U-Net network, sCTU-Net, was trained for model performance comparison. The synthetic CT(SCT) images generated by CBAM-U-Net and the original sCTU-Net are called CBAM-SCT and U-Net-SCT images, respectively. The HU accuracies of the CT, CBCT, and SCT images were compared using four metrics: mean absolute error(MAE), root mean square error(RMSE), peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR), and structure similarity index measure(SSIM). The mean values of the MAE, RMSE, PSNR, and SSIM of CBAM-SCT images were 23.80 HU, 64.63 HU, 52.27 dB, and 0.9919, respectively,which were superior to those of the U-Net-SCT images. To evaluate dosimetric accuracy, the range accuracy was compared for a single-energy proton beam. The γ-index pass rates of a 4 cm × 4 cm scanned field and simple plan were calculated to compare the effects of the noise reduction capabilities of the original U-Net and CBAM-U-Net on the dose calculation results. CBAM-U-Net reduced noise more effectively than sCTU-Net, particularly in high-density tissues. We proposed a CBAM-U-Net model for CBCT noise reduction in proton therapy. Owing to the excellent noise reduction capabilities of CBAM-U-Net, the proposed model provided relatively explicit information regarding patient tissues. Moreover, it maybe be used in dose calculation and adaptive treatment planning in the future.

We designed a clamping device to study lateral photovoltaic effect (LPE) in Ni-SiO_(2)-Si structure with bias due to the appropriate barrier *** LPE has a prominent sensitivity and linearity with 532 nm wavelength *** transient response time is 450μs and the relaxation time is 2 250μs in the Ni-SiO_(2)-Si structure without *** LPE sensitivity has a significant improvement with *** transient response time is 6μs and the relaxion time is 47μs with-7 V bias,not only improving the LPE sensitivity,but also increasing the response speed with *** research shows that the Schottky barrier structure can improve the sensitivity and linearity of LPE with bias effectively,and thus it can be used in position sensitive sensors.
