The microstructural, optical, and magnetic properties and room-temperature photoluminescence （PL） ofMn-doped ZnO thin films were studied. The chemical compositions were examined by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS） and the charge state of Mn ions in the ZnO：Mn films was characterized by X-ray photoelectronic spectrometry （XPS）. From the X-ray diffraction （XRD） data of the samples, it can be found that Mn doping does not change the orientation of ZnO thin films. All the films prepared have a wurtzite structure and grow mainly along the c-axis orientation. The grain size and the residual stress were calculated from the XRD results. The optical transmittance of the film decreases with the increase of manganese content in ZnO. The room-temperature photoluminescence of the films shows that the in- tensity of near band energy （NBE） emission depends strongly on the Mn content. The hysteresis behavior indicates that the films with the Mn content below 9at% are ferromagnetic at room temperature.

Ocular ischemic syndrome is a chronic ischemic eye disease including a series of ischemic ocular and brain syndromes caused by carotid artery occlusion or stenosis. Because of the different degrees of ischemia, clinical manifestations of ocular ischemic syndrome are diverse, and it is difficult to diagnose in the initial stage. The main strategy to treat ocular ischemic syndrome is elimination of carotid stenosis. We presented a patient who recovered dramatically after carotid artery stenting. The pre-stenting arm-retinal circulation time of the patient＇s left eye was prolonged, and a large amount of microaneurysm appeared at the posterior polar and mid-peripheral aspects of the left retina. The post-stenting arm-retinal circulation time of the left eve decreased to 16.3 seconds, and the microaneurvsm almost disappeared.

The elucidation of a natural strategy for metal hyperaccumulation enables the rational design of technologies for the clean-up of metal-contaminated *** acid has been suggested to be involved in toxic metallic element tolerance,translocation,and accumulation in *** impact of exogenous organic acids on cadmium(Cd) uptake and translocation in the zinc(Zn)/Cd co-hyperaccumulator Sedum alfredii was investigated in the present *** the addition of organic acids,short-term(2 h) root uptake of 109 Cd increased significantly,and higher 109 Cd contents in roots and shoots were noted 24 h after uptake,when compared to *** 85% of the 109 Cd taken up was distributed to the shoots in plants with citric acid(CA) treatments,as compared with 75% within *** such effect was observed for tartaric acid(TA).Reduced growth under Cd stress was significantly alleviated by low ***-term application of the two organic acids both resulted in elevated Cd in plants,but the effects varied with exposure time and *** results imply that CA may be involved in the processes of Cd uptake,translocation and tolerance in ***,whereas the impact of TA is mainly on the root uptake of Cd.

Relationship of plasma creatinine and lactic acid in type 2 diabetic patients without renal dysfunction

Background As one of most widely-used biguanides, metformin can induce the lactic acidosis in patients with renal failure though its incidence is very low. However, lactic acidemia induced by metformin was reported in patients without renal dysfunction. It is unclear that whether lactatemia exists in diabetic patients with normal renal function in Chinese or not and its influencing factors. This study aimed to clarify the influencing factors of lactic acid, and identify a practiced clinical marker to predict the hyperlactacidemia in diabetics with normal renal function. Methods The clinical data and venous blood samples of 1024 type 2 diabetic patients treated with （n=426） or without metformin （n=599） were collected. The lactic acid was assayed by enzyme-electrode method. The biochemical indexes included creatinine （Cr） and hepatase were measured with enzymatic procedures. The lactic acid concentrations of different Cr subgroups were compared, and the correlation and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis were used. Results The mean lactic acid level and the proportion of hyperlactatemia of metformin group were significantly higher than that of non-metformin group （P 〈0.01）, but no lactic acidosis was found in all patients. The correlation and multiple stepwise regression analysis indicated that the correlative factors of lactic acid in turn were Cr, metformin, alanine transferase （ALT）, body mass index （BMI）, Urine albumin （Ualb）, and blood urea nitrogen （BUN） in total patients; and Cr, ALT, BMI and BUN in non-metformin treated patients; Cr and ALT in metformin-group. The lactate concentration increased with the increment of Cr levels, and reached its peak at Cr 111-130 μmol/L, and the optimal cutoff of Cr in predicting hyperlactacidemia was 96.5 μmol/L. Conclusions Metformin can increase the incidence of lactatemia in type 2 diabetic patients without renal dysfunction. Cr, ALT, and BMI are independent associated factors of blood lactic acid levels. Sedum alfredii Hance has been identified as zinc(Zn) and cadmium(Cd) *** this paper the relationships of Zn or Cd hyperaccumulation to the generation and the role of H2O2 in Sedum alfredii *** *** results show that Zn and Cd contents in the shoots of Sedum alfredii *** with 1000 μmol/L Zn2+ and/or 200 μmol/L Cd2+ increased linearly within 15 *** of total S,glutathione(GSH) and H2O2 in shoots also increased within 15 d,and then *** S and GSH contents in shoots were higher under Cd2+ treatment than under Zn2+ ***,reverse trends of H2O2 content in shoots were obtained,in which much higher H2O2 content was observed in Zn2+-treated shoots than in Cd2+-treated ***,the microscopic imaging of H2O2 accumulation in leaves using H2O2 probe technique showed that much higher H2O2 accumulation was observed in the Zn2+-treated leaf than in the Cd2+-treated *** results suggest that there are different responses in the generation of H2O2 upon exposure to Zn2+ and Cd2+ for the hyperaccumulator Sedum alfredii *** this is the first report that the generation of H2O2 may play an important role in Zn hyperaccumulation in the *** results also imply that GSH may play an important role in the detoxification of dissociated Zn/Cd and the generation of H2O2.

Industrial-use VOx-based catalysts usually have a higher active temperature window (>250-300℃),which becomes a“bottleneck”for the practical application of PCDD/Fs catalytic degradation *** this work,VO_(x)-FeO_(x)/TiO_(2) catalyst prepared via mechanochemically method was investigated for the catalytic removal of PCDD/*** removal efficiency of 1,2-DCBz,pure PCDD/Fs gas generated in the lab,PCDD/Fs from actual fue gas,long-term were studied,and the degradation mechanism was explored using FTIR and *** degradation efficiency of 1,2-DCBz and PCDD/Fs on VO_(x)-FeO_(x)/TiO_(2) were higher than that of VO_(x)/TiO_(2)catalyst,and the optimal FeOx addition ratio was 3 wt.%.The characterization results show that the addition of FeOx can effectively improve the pore structure,surface acidity,and VOx dispersion of the catalyst,thus contributing to increasing the V^(5+)content and surface-active oxygen,which is conducive to the improvement of adsorption and redox performance of the *** the actual MSWI (municipal solid waste incineration)fue gas,the PCDD/Fs removal efficiency over VTi-3Fe-MC maintained long-term stability,higher than 85%for 240 *** result was not significantly reduced compared with the data obtained in the *** to the analysis results of intermediate products by FTIR and GC-TOFMS,it can be inferred that the epoxidation fracture of benzene ring is the rate-limiting step of dioxin catalytic degradation *** work gives an in-depth view into the PCDD/Fs removal over VO_(x)-FeO_(x)/TiO_(2) catalysts and could provide guidelines for the rational design of reliable catalysts for industrial applications.

Microchannel flow boiling heat transfer has the advantages of strong heat dissipation capacity,good temperature uniformity,and compact *** is an excellent way to thermally manage electronic devices,but when the heat flux exceeds CHF(Critical Heat Flux),the heat transfer performance deteriorates as the working fluid dries ***-azeotropic mixtures have the potential to effectively delay or avoid dry-out during the boiling process due to their temperature slide characteristics which causes the mass transfer *** understand the influence of non-azeotropic mixtures on microchannel flow boiling,using the phase-change microchannel heat sink as the research object,the experiments on the flow boiling heat transfer performance of R245fa/R134a mixtures under different working conditions were carried out,and the characteristics of flow boiling heat transfer were obtained under the different working conditions,and comparison was developed with those of pure substance *** results demonstrated that a small amount of low-boiling-point components in the high-boiling-point working fluid inhibited boiling heat transfer to some extent,and lowered the average heat transfer coefficient under the non-dryout condition slightly lower than that of the pure substance;however,it also effectively delayed the onset of local dry-out and prevented significant deterioration in thermal transfer performance under the lower mass flow rate and higher heat flux,which could enhance the heat sink's stability.

As an increasingly used alternative to perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA),hexafluoropropylene oxide trimer acid(HFPO-TA)has been widely detected in global water ***,little is known regarding its toxic effects on cardiovascular ***,zebrafish embryos were treated with egg water containing 0,60,120,or 240 mg/L *** showed that HFPO-TA treatment led to a significant reduction in both larval survival percentage and heart ***,HFPO-TA exposure caused severe pericardial edema and elongation of the sinus venous to bulbus arteriosus distance(SV-BA)in Tg(myl7:GFP)transgenic larvae,disrupting the expression of genes involved in heart development and thus causing abnormal heart *** sprouting angiogenesis was observed in the 120 and 240 mg/L exposed Tg(fli:GFP)transgenic ***-TA treatment also impacted the mRNA levels of genes involved in the vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)pathway and embryonic vascular ***-TA exposure significantly decreased erythrocyte number in Tg(gata1:DsRed)transgenic embryos and influenced gene expression associated with the heme metabolism ***-TA also induced oxidative stress and altered the transcriptional levels of genes related to cell cycle and apoptosis,inhibiting cell proliferation while promoting ***,HFPO-TA exposure may induce abnormal development of the cardiovascular and hematopoietic systems in zebrafish embryos,suggesting it may not be a suitable or safe alternative for PFOA.
