Novel Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization Based on Huge Value Penalty for Solving Engineering Problem

For the purpose of solving the engineering constrained discrete optimization problem, a novel discrete particle swarm optimization（DPSO） is proposed. The proposed novel DPSO is based on the idea of normal particle swarm optimization（PSO）, but deals with the variables as discrete type, the discrete optimum solution is found through updating the location of discrete variable. To avoid long calculation time and improve the efficiency of algorithm, scheme of constraint level and huge value penalty are proposed to deal with the constraints, the stratagem of reproducing the new particles and best keeping model of particle are employed to increase the diversity of particles. The validity of the proposed DPSO is examined by benchmark numerical examples, the results show that the novel DPSO has great advantages over current algorithm. The optimum designs of the 100-1 500 mm bellows under 0.25 MPa are fulfilled by DPSO. Comparing the optimization results with the bellows in-service, optimization results by discrete penalty particle swarm optimization（DPPSO） and theory solution, the comparison result shows that the global discrete optima of bellows are obtained by proposed DPSO, and confirms that the proposed novel DPSO and schemes can be used to solve the engineering constrained discrete problem successfully.

Epithelial-specific ETS-1(ESE1), a member of the ETS transcription factor family, is widely expressed in multiple tissues and performs various functions in inflammation. During neuroinflammation, ESE1 promotes neuronal apoptosis; however, the expression and biological functions of ESE1 remain unclear after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. We performed in vivo and in vitro experiments to explore the role of ESE1 in cerebral ischemic injury. A modified four vessel occlusion method was used in adult Sprague-Dawley rats. At 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours after model induction, the hippocampus was collected for analysis. Western blot assays and immunohistochemistry showed that the expression of ESE1, phosphorylated p65 and active caspase-3 was significantly up-regulated after ischemia. Double immunofluorescence staining indicated that ESE1 and NeuN were mostly co-located in the hippocampus after ischemia. Furthermore, ESE1 was also co-expressed with active caspase-3. PC12 cells were stimulated with cobalt chloride(CoCl_2) to establish a chemical hypoxia model. After ESE1 knockdown by siRNA for 6 hours, cell viability was detected by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide assays. The levels of ESE1, phosphorylated p65 and active caspase-3 were also remarkably increased in PC12 cells after CoCl_2 stimulation. After ESE1 knockdown, PC12 cell viability was increased after hypoxia. siRNA knockdown of ESE1 decreased the level of p-p65 and active caspase-3 after CoCl_2 stimulation. These data reveal that ESE1 levels are elevated in the hippocampus after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. This may play a role in neuronal apoptosis via activation of the nuclear factor-κB pathway.

Aureococcus anophagefferens caused brown tides for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2011 in the coastal waters of Qinhuangdao, China, with numerous, widespread ecological and economic impact on ecosystems. To understand the population dy- namics of nanoplankton during the brown tides, sequences of the V9 region of the 18S rDNA gene, used as a marker, were analyzed by Illumina sequencing to assess nanoplankton biomass, and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was performed to analyze spa- tial variation in the 18S rDNA copy concentrations of nanoplankton off the Qinhuangdao coast in July, 2011. The results showed that A. anophagefferens and Minutocellus polymorphus were the dominant species in the local phytoplankton community during the brown tide in July 2011. The highest 18S rDNA copy concentrations of A. anophagefferens and M. polymorphus were detected at stations SHG and FN, respectively. The central area most strongly affected by the brown tide migrated southward from 2011 to 2013. Redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that the decreasing NOx concentration might provide suitable nutrient conditions for the A. anophagefferens outbreak. During the brown tide caused by A. anophagefferens, other phytoplankton, such as diatoms, cryptophytes, chlorophytes, dinoflagellates and other flagellates, could co-occur with it. For zooplankton, due to less selective feeding behavior, Amoebozoa was the most abundant zooplankton at station SHG, while Ciliophora was the most abundant zooplankton at other sta- tions for its more selective feeding.

This paper presents a 2-D numerical investigation on interaction between regular waves and a fully submerged horizontal cylinder.A mathematical model of numerical wave tank with two-way fluid-solid interactions were developed and *** wave-induced vibrations of a single-degree-of-freedom cylinder were simulated at eleven gap ratios(d/a=8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24,28 and 32).Numerical results indicate that significant nonlinear characteristics are introduced into the originally linear waves with the presence of *** on the variation characteristics of cylinder vibration amplitude,the gap ratios can be divided into three ranges,i.e.,the uncertain range(8≤d/a≤14),quasi-linear range(14≤d/a≤20)and linear range(20≤d/a≤32).Under the same wave condition,the gap ratio does not affect the frequencies of vortex shedding and cylinder *** presence of the cylinder complicates the flow field and suppress the vortex shedding around the cylinder.

Industrial robots are widely used in various areas owing to their greater degrees of freedom(DOFs)and larger operation space compared with traditional frame movement systems involving sliding and rotational ***,the geometrical transfer of joint kinematic errors and the relatively weak rigidity of industrial robots compared with frame movement systems decrease their absolute kinematic accuracy,thereby limiting their further application in ultraprecision *** imposes a stringent requirement for improving the absolute kinematic accuracy of industrial robots in terms of the position and orientation of the robot arm *** measurement and compensation methods for industrial robots either require expensive measuring systems,producing positioning or orientation errors,or offer low measurement ***,a kinematic calibration method for an industrial robot using an artifact with a hybrid spherical and ellipsoid surface is proposed.A system with submicrometric precision for measuring the position and orientation of the robot arm end is developed using laser displacement ***,a novel kinematic error compensating method involving both a residual learning algorithm and a neural network is proposed to compensate for nonlinear errors.A six-layer recurrent neural network(RNN)is designed to compensate for the kinematic nonlinear errors of a six-DOF industrial *** results validate the feasibility of the proposed method for measuring the kinematic errors of industrial robots,and the compensation method based on the RNN improves the accuracy via parameter *** studies show that the measuring system and compensation method can reduce motion errors by more than 30%.The present study provides a feasible and economic approach for measuring and improving the motion accuracy of an industrial robot at the submicrometric measurement level.

The coarsening behaviors of γ″-phase particles in Inconel 718 alloy aged at 750, 800, and 850℃ were investigated by scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. Detailed observations and quantitative measurements were conducted to characterize the coarsening behavior of the γ″-phase under various aging conditions. The experimental results indicate that the existence of the δ-phase retards the formation and coarsening of the γ″-phase, without influencing its final particle size or amount. Moreover, when cold rolled with a reduction of 50%, the dimensions of the γ″ particles in Inconel 718 alloy decrease with increasing aging time. Furthermore, the coarsening behavior of the γ″-phase in the Inconel 718 alloy after a normal aging treatment（sample A） and that of the primary δ-phase（sample B） follow the Lifshitz–Slyozov–Wagner（LSW） diffusion-controlled growth theory; the thus-obtained activation energies for the γ″-phase are 292 k J·mol^-1 and 302 k J·mol^-1, respectively.

To better understand the factors influencing the thermal structure of tributaries in the Three Gorges Reservoir （TGR）, a well validated three-dimensional hydrodynamic and water temperature model was proposed to simulate the water temperature distribution in the Xiangxi Bay, a representative tributary of TGR. The numerical results show that water temperature stratification seasonally occurred in the Xiangxi Bay, with stable vertical temperature profiles. It is found from the numerical experiments that three key factors are responsible for the formation of water temperature structure：（1） very often, the locations of thermocline are mainly determined by wind speeds, and the higher the wind speed is, the deeper the thermocline is located beneath the water surface, which could be expressed by a fitted exponential function, （2） the thermal structure is affected by static stability of water column, and the thermocline becomes closer to the water surface and its thickness increases with the increase of temperature, （3） due to the effect of the thermal density inflow, the water temperature of the hypolimnion tends to be uniform, however, even under the condition of larger inflow discharge, the influence of the inflow on the epilitnnion and the thermocline is not significant.

The redox property of the ultrasmall coinage nanoclusters(with several to tens of Au/Ag atoms)has elucidated the electrontransfer capacity of nanoclusters,has been successfully utilized in a variety of redox conversions(such as from CO_(2)to CO).Nevertheless,their biological applications are mainly restricted by the scarcity of atomically precise,water-soluble metal nanoclusters,the limited application(mainly on the decomposition of H_(2)O_(2)in these days).Herein,mercaptosuccinic acid(MSA)protected ultrasmall alloy AuAg nanoclusters were prepared,the main product was determined[Au_(3)Ag_(5)(MSA)_(3)]−by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry(ESI-MS).The clusters can not only mediate the decomposition of H_(2)O_(2)to generate hydroxyl radicals,but is also able to mediate the reduction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD)to its reduced form of *** is the first time that the atomically precise metal nanoclusters were used to mediate the coenzyme *** preliminary mechanistic insights imply the reaction to be driven by the hydrogen bonding between the carboxylic groups(on the surface of MSA)and the amino N–H bonds(on NAD).In this context,the presence of the carboxylic groups,the sub-nanometer size regime(~1 nm),the synergistic effect of the Au-Ag clusters are pre-requisite to the NAD reduction.
