AIM: To investigate the efficacy and safety of krypton laser peripheral iridoplasty(LPIP) for Chinese patients with primary angle closure(PAC) or primary angle-closure glaucoma(PACG) status post laser iridotomy in reversing the positive results of the dark room provocative test(DRPT).METHODS: This study was prospective, noncomparative,interventional case series. Thirty-three patients(thirty-eight eyes) with PAC or PACG status post patent laser iridotomy and maintained normal intraocular pressure(IOP) but with positive DRPT results were enrolled. All the subjects were treated with krypton LPIP. DRPT was repeated after krypton LPIP. Results of DRPT were recorded. The visual acuity, IOP and gonioscopy were analyzed before and after krypton LPIP. A minimum time limit for follow-up was ***: Thirty-three patients(thirty-eight eyes)were followed for 17.7 ±8.37mo(range 7-41mo) after LPIP. Positive results of DRPT decreased from 38 eyes to9 eyes(23.7%) after LPIP. Peripheral anterior synechiae of angle in 34 of 38 eyes(89.5%) remained unchanged at dynamic gonioscopy throughout the follow-up period after ***: LPIP decreased positive rates of the DRPT significantly. The mechanism may be that LPIP minimized contact between the peripheral iris and trabecular meshwork, which is a key factor for developing peripheral anterior synechiae.

The Yellow Sea Warm Current （YSWC） penetrates northward along the Yellow Sea Trough, and brings warm and saline water towards the Bohai Sea. The YSWC becomes much less intrusive in summer and is limited mostly in the southern trough, contrasting with a deep winter penetration well into the trough. The seasonal variability of the YSWC has prompted a debate regarding which controls the YSWC and its seasonal variability. In this article, the annual mean and seasonal variability of the YSWC was examined by using a 3-D ocean model together with several experiments. The results show that in the annual mean the YSWC is a compensating current firstly for the southward Korea Coastal Current （KCC）, which is mainly caused by the Kuroshio Current （KC）. The local wind-stress forcing plays an important but secondary role. However, the local monsoonal forcing plays a prominent role in modulating the seasonal variability. A deep northwestward intrusion of the YSWC in winter, for instance, is mainly due to a robustly developed China Coastal Current （CCC） which draws water along the Yellow Sea trough to feed a southward flow all the way from the Bohai Sea to the Taiwan Strait.

Antibiotic resistance poses a critical threat to human healthcare,largely driven by bacterial *** biofilms resist the immune system and antibiotics,rendering enclosed microbial cells 10-1000times more antibiotic-resistant than planktonic cells,leading to severe ***,there is an urgent need to develop innovative tools for investigating biofilm regulators and devising novel antibacterial *** this study,we developed Cy-NEO-PA,a near-infrared(NIR)fluorescent probe responsive to penicillin G acylase(PGA),with bacteria-targeting *** probe was designed to visualize the influence of environmental factors on biofilm formation in Acinetobacter baumannii(***).Our findings demonstrated that glucose suppressed PGA production,leading to enhanced biofilm formation,whereas phenylacetic acid(PAA)stimulated PGA production and inhibited biofilm formation in *** observations highlight the remarkable capability of Cy-NEO-PA to accurately measure PGA dynamics,shedding light on the critical role of PGA in biofilm ***,Cy-NEO-PA exhibited excellent biocompatibility,potent reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation,efficient photothermal conversion,and bacteria-targeting abilities,making it a promising agent for combating bacterial infections and promoting wound healing through photothermal(PTT)/photodynamic(PDT)*** discoveries emphasize the significant role of PGA in antibacterial therapy and offer valuable insights for the design of effective strategies targeting PGA to combat biofilm-associated infections.

·AIM:To compare the ciliary body thickness between eyes with primary angle closure(PAC)and primary angle-closure glaucoma(PACG)with the normal eyes,and to investigate the association between ciliary body thickness and ciliary processes situation.·METHODS:In this cross-sectional study,57 patients with PAC/PACG were matched to 57 normal subjects after propensity score matching(PSM)adjusting for age and *** subjects underwent conventional ocular examinations and ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM)examination,among which the patients with PAC/PACG performed the examinations one month after laser peripheral iridotomy(LPI).Quantitative parameters were measured,which included ciliary body thickness at the position of 1 mm posterior to the scleral spur(CBT1),trabecular-ciliary process distance(TCPD)and trabecularciliary process angle(TCA).·RESULTS:Eyes with PAC/PACG presented significantly thinner CBT1,shorter TCPD and smaller TCA(P<0.001)than the normal eyes,both in comparison of the means of four quadrants and in comparisons of each *** removing images with peripheral anterior synechia(PAS),the same results were also found in comparisons between the two *** correlations were found between TCPD(R~2=0.537,P<0.001)and TCA(R~2=0.517,P<0.001)with CBT1.·CONCLUSION:Eyes with PAC/PACG have thinner ciliary body thickness and more anteriorly situated ciliary *** ciliary body thickness is associated with anterior situation of the ciliary processes.

Fluorescence-guided surgery(FGS)with tumor-targeted imaging agents,particularly those using the near-infrared wavelength,has emerged as a real-time technique to highlight the tumor location and margins during a surgical *** accurate visualization of prostate cancer(PCa)boundary and lymphatic metastasis,we developed a new approach involving an efficient self-quenched near-infrared fluorescence probe,Cy-KUE-OA,with dual PCa-membrane ***-KUE-OA specifically targeted the prostate-specific membrane antigen(PSMA),anchored into the phospholipids of the cell membrane of PCa cells and consequently showed a strong Cy7-de-quenching *** dual–membrane-targeting probe allowed us to detect PSMA-expressing PCa cells both in vitro and in vivo and enabled clear visualization of the tumor boundary during fluorescence-guided laparoscopic surgery in PCa mouse ***,the high PCa preference of Cy-KUE-OA was confirmed on surgically resected patient specimens of healthy tissues,PCa,and lymph node *** together,our results serve as a bridge between preclinical and clinical research in FGS of PCa and lay a solid foundation for further clinical research.

Recently, the efficiency of CdTe thin film solar cell has been improved by using new type of window layer Mg_(x)Zn_(1-x)O(MZO). However, it is hard to achieve such a high efficiency as expected. In this report a comparative study is carried out between the MZO/CdTe and CdS/CdTe solar cells to investigate the factors affecting the device performance of MZO/CdTe solar cells. The efficiency loss quantified by voltage-dependent photocurrent collection efficiency(ηC(V′)) is 3.89% for MZO/CdTe and 1.53% for CdS/CdTe solar cells. The higher efficiency loss for the MZO/CdTe solar cell is induced by more severe carrier recombination at the MZO/CdTe p-n junction interface and in CdTe bulk region than that for the CdS/CdTe solar cell. Activation energy(Ea) of the reverse saturation current of the MZO/CdTe and CdS/CdTe solar cells are found to be 1.08 e V and 1.36 e V, respectively. These values indicate that for the CdS/CdTe solar cell the carrier recombination is dominated by bulk Shockley-Read-Hall(SRH) recombination and for the MZO/CdTe solar cell the carrier recombination is dominated by the p-n junction interface recombination. It is found that the tunneling-enhanced interface recombination is also involved in carrier recombination in the MZO/CdTe solar cell. This work demonstrates the poor device performance of the MZO/CdTe solar cell is induced by more severe interface and bulk recombination than that of the CdS/CdTe solar cell.

Photoacoustic agents combining photodynamic therapy(PDT) and photothermal therapy(PTT) functions have emerged as potent theranostic agents for combating cancer. The molecular approaches for enhancing the near-infrared(NIR)-absorption and maximizing non-radiative energy transfer are essential for effective photoacoustic imaging(PAI) and therapy applications. In addition, such molecules with high specificity and affinity to cancer cells are urgently needed, which would further decrease the side effect during treatments. In this study, we applied a heavy-atom engineering strategy and introduced p-aminophenol,-thio, and-seleno moieties into NIR heptamethine cyanine(Cy7) skeleton(Cy7-X-NH_(2), X = O, S, Se) to significantly increase photothermal conversion efficiency for PTT and promote intersystem crossing for ***, we designed a series of nitroreductase(NTR)-activated photoacoustic probes(Cy7-X-NO_(2),X = O, S, Se), and target hypoxic tumors with NTR overexpression. Our prostate cancer targeting probe,Cy7-Se-NO_(2)-KUE, exhibited specific tumor photoacoustic signals and effective tumor killing through outstanding synergistic PTT/PDT in vivo. These findings highlighted a versatile strategy for cancer photoacoustic diagnosis and enhanced phototherapy.
