As climatic changes and human uses intensify,resource managers and other decision makers are taking actions to either avoid or respond to ecosystem tipping points,or dramatic shifts in structure and function that are often costly and hard to *** indicates that explicitly addressing tipping points leads to improved management *** on theory and examples from marine systems,we distill a set of seven principles to guide effective management in ecosystems with tipping points,derived from the best available *** principles are based on observations that tipping points(1)are possible everywhere,(2)are associated with intense and/or multifaceted human use,(3)may be preceded by changes in earlywarning indicators,(4)may redistribute benefits among stakeholders,(5)affect the relative costs of action and inaction,(6)suggest biologically informed management targets,and(7)often require an adaptive response to *** suggest that early action to preserve system resilience is likely more practical,affordable,and effective than late action to halt or reverse a tipping *** articulate a conceptual approach to management focused on linking management targets to thresholds,tracking early-warning signals of ecosystem instability,and stepping up investment in monitoring and mitigation as the likelihood of dramatic ecosystem change *** approach can simplify and economize management by allowing decision makers to capitalize on the increasing value of precise information about threshold relationships when a system is closer to tipping or by ensuring that restoration effort is sufficient to tip a system into the desired regime.

Image deconvolution problems with a symmetric point-spread function arisein many areas of science and engineering. These problems often are solved by theRichardson-Lucy method, a nonlinear iterative method. we first show a convergenceresult for the Richardson-Lucy method. The proof sheds light on why the method mayconverge slowly. subsequently, we describe an iterative active set method that imposesthe same constraints on the computed solution as the Richardson-Lucy method. Computed examples show the latter method to yield better restorations than the RichardsonLucy method and typically require less computational effort.

mannan-binding lectin(mBL)is a soluble innate immune protein that binds to glycosylated *** acts as an opsonin and activates complement,contributing to the destruction and clearance of infecting *** C virus(HCV)encodes two envelope glycoproteins E1 and E2,expressed as non-covalent E1/E2 heterodimers in the viral envelope.E1 and E2 are potential ligands for *** we describe an analysis of the interaction between HCV and mBL using recombinant soluble E2 ectodomain fragment,the full-length E1/E2 heterodimer,expressed in vitro,and assess the effect of this interaction on virus entry.A binding assay using antibody capture of full length E1/E2 heterodimers was used to demonstrate calcium dependent,saturating binding of mBL to HCV *** with various saccharides further confirmed that the interaction was via the lectin domain of *** binds to E1/E2 representing a broad range of virus *** was shown to neutralize the entry into Huh-7 cells of HCV pseudoparticles(HCVpp)bearing E1/E2 from a wide range of *** were neutralized to varying *** was also shown to neutralize an authentic cell culture infectious virus,strain JFH-1(HCVcc).Furthermore,binding of mBL to E1/E2 was able to activate the complement system via mBL-associated serine protease *** conclusion,mBL interacts directly with HCV glycoproteins,which are present on the surface of the virion,resulting in neutralization of HCV particles.

Architecting fault Tolerance with Exception Handling: Verification and Validation

when building dependable systems by integrating untrusted software components that were not originally designed to interact with each other, it is likely the occurrence of architectural mismatches related to assumptions in their failure behaviour. These mismatches, if not prevented during system design, have to be tolerated during runtime. This paper presents an architectural abstraction based on exception handling for structuring fault-tolerant software systems. This abstraction comprises several components and connectors that promote an existing untrusted software element into an idealised fault-tolerant architectural element. moreover, it is considered in the context of a rigorous software development approach based on formal methods for representing the structure and behaviour of the software architecture. The proposed approach relies on a formal specification and verification for analysing exception propagation, and verifying important dependability properties, such as deadlock freedom, and scenarios of architectural reconfiguration. The formal models are automatically generated using model transformation from UmL diagrams： component diagram representing the system structure, and sequence diagrams representing the system behaviour. Finally, the formal models are also used for generating unit and integration test cases that are used for assessing the correctness of the source code. The feasibility of the proposed architectural approach was evaluated on an embedded critical case study.

蕨菜草地的单优势种蕨菜（Pteridium aquilinum）现存量中的营养元素,从冬季至翌年的秋季有所增加,主要是通过植物从土壤中的吸收而获得。秋季活叶片变老,枯黄,使部分元素成为枯枝落叶现存量中的元素;在植物地下部分的元素,也因根系死亡而从活体中丧失。蕨菜草地植被每年从土壤中吸收各类元素的数量为:钾17.6克/米2、氮16.4克/米2、钙12.8克/米2、锰3.14克/米2、铁2.47克/米2、磷2.12克/米2。蕨菜对各类元素的利用系数以钙（1.39）最高。植物的吸收量与土壤营养库相比,吸收系数最低的是氮0.012,最高为铁1.36。

The use of a gamma distribution of rain-drop sizes in the calculation of microwave rain attenuation is gaining *** on the CCIR rain attenuation relation aR,a method of calculating the general gamma distribution of raindrop sizes has been developed in this paper using the measured microwave attenuation data varying with the rain *** method,which overcomes the common problems of instability and does not suffer the possibility of multiple solutions,has been tested using a CCIR *** of the calculated results with the data from the CCIR model shows that the method provides the ideal modeling of rain Drop 5ize Distribution(DsD).As an application,the two-year experimental data recorded in singapore has been used to obtain the parameters of the generalized gamma DsD function.

seed size and composition are important traits in food crops and can be affected by nutrient availability in the soil. Phosphorus （P） is a non-renewable, essential macronutrient, and P deficiency limits soybean （G1ycine max） yield and quality. To investigate the associations of seed traits in low- and high-P environ- ments, soybean recombinant inbred lines （RILs） from a cross of cultivars Fiskeby III and mandarin （Ottawa） were grown under contrasting P availability environments. Traits including individual seed weight, seed number, and intact mature pod weight were significantly affected by soil P levels and showed transgressive segregation among the RILs. surprisingly, P treatments did not affect seed composition or weight, suggesting that soybeanmaintains sufficient P in seeds even in Iow-P soil. Quantitative trait loci （QTLs） were detected for seed weight, intact pods, seed volume, and seed protein, with five significant QTLs identified in Iow-P environments and one significant QTL found in the optimaI-P environment. Broad-sense heritability estimates were 0.78 （individual seed weight）, *** （seed protein）, 0.34 （seed oil）, and 0.98 （seed number）. The QTLs identified under low P point to genetic regions that may be useful to improve soybean performance under limiting P conditions.
