Interleukin-37b(hereafter called IL-37)was identified as fundamental inhibitor of natural and acquired *** molecular mechanism and function of IL-37 in colorectal cancer(CRC)has been ***,we found that IL-37 transgenic(IL-37tg)mice were highly susceptible to colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC)and suffered from dramatically increased tumor burdens in ***,IL-37 is dispensable for intestinal mutagenesis,and CRC cell proliferation,apoptosis,and ***,IL-37 dampened protective cytotoxic T cell-mediated immunity in CAC and B16-OVA ***8^(+)T cell dysfunction is defined by reduced retention and activation as well as failure to proliferate and produce cytotoxic cytokines in IL-37tg mice,enabling tumor evasion of immune *** dysfunction led by IL-37 antagonizes IL-18–induced proliferation and effector function of CD8+T cells,which was dependent on SIGIRR(single immunoglobulin interleukin-1 receptor-related protein).Finally,we observed that IL-37 levels were significantly increased in CRC patients,and positively correlated with serum CRC biomarker CEA levels,but negatively correlated with the CD8+T cell infiltration in CRC *** findings highlight the role of IL-37 in harnessing antitumor immunity by inactivation of cytotoxic T cells and establish a new defined inhibitory factor IL-37/SIGIRR in cancerimmunity cycle as therapeutic targets in CRC.

Size-dependent spatio-temporal dynamics of eukaryotic plankton community near nuclear power plant in Beibu gulf,China

Pico-and nano-eukaryotic plankton are important members of marine *** understand their community structure and spatio-temporal variations in the Beibu gulf,and to study the impact of Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant(CNPP)located in the northwest coast of the Hainan Island on the eukaryotic plankton,we studied these issues in the coastal water near CNPP bimonthly from February 2018 to January 2019 via 18 S Illumina *** results reveal a higher genetic alphadiversity and less beta-diversity of the plankton community in small-size(0.45-5μm and 5-20μm)fractions than in large-size(20-200μm and>20μm)*** small-sized phytoplankton,including Micromonas(Chlorophyta)and Minutocellus(Bacillariophyta),as well as heterotrophic plankton,including Paraphysomonas(Chrysophyceae),Ellobiopsis(Dinoflagellates),and Syndiniales(Dinoflagellates),took up a considerable proportion in eukaryotic plankton *** addition,it showed a slight temperature increase and no significant difference in eukaryotic plankton community between the outfall of CNPP and other sampling sites,suggesting that the impact of the thermal discharge from the CNPP on local eukaryotic plankton community was limited.

Defect energetics and magnetic properties of 3d-transition-metal-doped topological crystalline insulator SnTe

The introduction of magnetism in SnTe-class topological crystalline insulators is a challenging subject with great importance in the quantum device applications. Based on the first-principles calculations, we have studied the defect energetics and magnetic properties of 3d transition-metal(TM)-doped SnTe. We find that the doped TM atoms prefer to stay in the neutral states and have comparatively high formation energies, suggesting that the uniform TMdoping in SnTe with a higher concentration will be difficult unless clustering. In the dilute doping regime, all the magnetic TMatoms are in the high-spin states, indicating that the spin splitting energy of 3d TM is stronger than the crystal splitting energy of the SnTe ligand. Importantly, Mn-doped SnTe has relatively low defect formation energy, largest local magnetic moment, and no defect levels in the bulk gap, suggesting that Mn is a promising magnetic dopant to realize the magnetic order for the theoretically-proposed large-Chern-number quantum anomalous Hall effect(QAHE) in SnTe.

From single to combinatorial therapies in spinal cord injuries for structural and functional restoration

Spinal cord injury results in paralysis, sensory disturbances, sphincter dysfunction, and multiple systemic secondary conditions, most arising from autonomic dysregulation. All this produces profound negative psychosocial implications for affected people, their families, and their communities;the financial costs can be challenging for their families and health institutions. Treatments aimed at restoring the spinal cord after spinal cord injury, which have been tested in animal models or clinical trials, generally seek to counteract one or more of the secondary mechanisms of injury to limit the extent of the initial damage. Most published works on structural/functional restoration in acute and chronic spinal cord injury stages use a single type of treatment: a drug or trophic factor, transplant of a cell type, and implantation of a biomaterial. Despite the significant benefits reported in animal models, when translating these successful therapeutic strategies to humans, the result in clinical trials has been considered of little relevance because the improvement, when present, is usually insufficient. Until now, most studies designed to promote neuroprotection or regeneration at different stages after spinal cord injury have used single treatments. Considering the occurrence of various secondary mechanisms of injury in the acute and sub-acute phases of spinal cord injury, it is reasonable to speculate that more than one therapeutic agent could be required to promote structural and functional restoration of the damaged spinal cord. Treatments that combine several therapeutic agents, targeting different mechanisms of injury, which, when used as a single therapy, have shown some benefits, allow us to assume that they will have synergistic beneficial effects. The prognostic value of clinical and pathologic features in nonmetastatic operable male breast cancer

Compared with female breast cancer, male breast cancer is a rare disease, and the relationship between clinical/pathologic features and prognosis is controversial, or even largely unknown. In this study, we performed a retrospective analysis using clinical and pathologic data from 109 nonmetastatic operable male breast cancer patients treated from January 1996 to December 2011 at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital. Log-rank test showed that lower tumor stage, no lymph node involvement, and positive estrogen/progesterone receptor status were good predictors of both disease-free survival and overall survival on univariate analysis. However, hormonotherapy is only a good predictive factor of disease-free survival, and not of overall survival. In addition, based on a Cox proportional hazard regression model, only lymph node involvement, and estrogen/progesterone receptor status were statistically significant predictive factors on multivariate analysis. Our results demonstrated that although adjuvant systemic therapy is used extensively in male breast cancer patients and prognosis has improved over the last few decades, lymph node involvement, and estrogen/progesterone receptor status are still the most important prognostic factors. A prospective multi-center study with a larger sample size is urgently needed to further understand male breast cancer.

Characterization and evaluation of UV-irradiation aging of urushi by micro-UV/Py-GC/MS system

Lacquer is the main raw material of lacquerware,while UV-irradiation is an important factor leading to its *** order to investigate the aging behavior of urushi lacquer film under UV-irradiation,and to propose parameters that can be used to evaluate its aging degree,the micro-UV/Py-GC/MS system has been applied in the present work to enrich and identify volatile products released by urushi film during aging on the one hand,and to investigate micro-amount and conventional urushi films with different aging degrees on the other hand,in addition,representative historical samples have also been *** products released by urushi film demonstrate that during UV-irradiation,polysaccharides wrapping urushiol polymer would be first degraded to generate furans and alcohols,and then urushiol polymer would undergo photo-oxidation and break of molecular chain,mainly generating oxidation products including aldehydes,organic acids,and ketones,as well as a small number of alkyl benzenes and ***-GC/MS analysis of micro-amount urushi films with different aging degrees indicates that UVirradiation is more destructive to aliphatic chains in urushiol polymer,but it also can accelerate the polymerization of microamount urushi ***-GC/MS analysis of conventional urushi films indicates that with the increase of aging degree,the total chromatographic peak area ratio of hydrocarbons to benzene derivatives gradually increases,the peak area ratio of 3-pentadecenyl-catechol to 3-pentadecyl-catechol gradually decreases,and the peak area ratio of aging products of urushiol to 3-pentadecyl-catechol gradually *** above parameters were further used to evaluate the aging degree of two urushicontained samples separately collected from the surface and interior of a carved lacquer panel in the Forbidden City,and evaluation results are in accord with the natural aging law and further verify the reliability of the proposed *** results of the pre

A multistandard and resource-efficient Viterbi decoder for a multimode communication system

We present a novel standard convolutional symbols generator(SCSG)block for a multi-parameter reconfigurable Viterbi decoder to optimize resource consumption and adaption of multiple *** SCSG block generates all the states and calculates all the possible standard convolutional symbols corresponding to the states using an iterative *** architecture of the Viterbi decoder based on the SCSG reduces resource consumption for recalculating the branch metrics and rearranging the correspondence between branch metrics and transition *** proposed architecture supports constraint lengths from 3 to 9,code rates of 1/2,1/3,and 1/4,and fully optional *** proposed Viterbi decoder has been implemented on the Xilinx XC7VX485T device with a high throughput of about 200 Mbps and a low resource consumption of 162k logic gates.
