BACKGROUND Acute cholecystitis due to unintended cystic artery embolism is an uncommon and mostly self-limiting complication after transarterial chemoembolization procedure for treatment of hepatocellular ***,conservative management is sufficient for complete recovery of patients who develop this *** conservative treatment is ineffective,urgent surgical inter-vention may be required to prevent the progression of *** SUMMARY This article reports a rare and serious case of acute cholecystitis complicated by gallbladder necrosis and biliary peritonitis,which was initially treated conservatively but eventually necessitated emergency *** patient initially presented with equivocal symptoms of fever and upper abdominal pain and distention,which worsened at the two weeks mark along with emergence of signs of *** was managed by emergency laparotomy and cholecystostomy,allowing rapid symptom *** patient ultimately discharged and succumbed to advanced liver cancer 11 months after *** After cholecystostomy,the patient showed symptom relief and was discharged,surviving 11 months post-stage IIIB liver cancer diagnosis.

BACKGROUND Splenectomy is an effective yet invasive intervention for alleviating portal pressure in patients with hepatitis ***,the current prognostic indicators for predicting long-term overall survival of these patients have several *** To assess the potential of preoperative total bilirubin-albumin(B/A)ratio as a prognostic indicator for patients with hepatitis cirrhosis undergoing *** A total of 257 patients diagnosed with hepatitis cirrhosis were retrospectively enrolled in the *** test,t-test,Wilcoxon test,χ2 test,or Fisher’s exact test was employed to analyze the intraoperative and postoperative conditions of the *** operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was utilized to depict the 10-year overall survival *** During the follow-up period,85.99%of the patients survived,with a median survival time of 64.6 *** analysis revealed that total serum B/A ratio was an independent risk factor for overall survival(P=0.037).ROC curve analysis demonstrated that a B/A ratio of 0.87 was the optimal cut-off ***,the patients were categorized into two groups:High B/A group(n=64)and low B/A group(n=193).The median follow-up time for the high B/A group and low B/A group was 56.8 months and 67.2 months,respectively(P=0.045).Notably,the high B/A group exhibited a significantly lower 10-year overall survival compared to the low B/A group(P<0.001).Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)had lower overall survival *** with a high B/A ratio exhibited a lower overall survival than those with a low B/A rate in the overall cohort and the subgroups of patients with HCC or not,early Child-Pugh grade,low albumin-bilirubin grade,and model for end-stage liver disease score≥10(log-rank test,P<0.001 for all).CONCLUSION The B/A ratio can serve as an effective prognostic indicator for overall survival in patients with hepatitis B virusrelated cirrhosis following splenectom

In contrast to grassland and forest ecosystems, little is known about insect response to nitrogen deposition in agricultural ecosystems. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of short-term （1-2 years） nitrogen application （0, 172.5, 345.0, 690.0, and 1035.0 kg · N ha^-1 · y^-1） on beetle communities in tea plantations. A collection of 34 families, 89 species of beetles, was obtained from a tea plantation in Wuyishan, China. Among them, herbivores, predators and detritivores had 52, 29, and eight species, respectively. Species richness, effective diversity and abundance （measured as the number of individuals and insect biomass） of the beetle community were not significantly related to the rate of nitrogen application. However, nitrogen application changed the species distribution and weakly increased the evenness of species distribution, while this did not significantly change the species evenness. Species richness and abundance of herbivores and predators were not significantly related to the rate of nitrogen application. However, there were some variations in trophic responses to nitrogen. Species richness and abundance of detritivores increased with increasing nitrogen application.

Paddy field is an important land use in subtropical China. Development of high soil fertility and productivity is the management goal of paddy field, Fertilization and management practices have not only influenced the status of organic matter and nutrients in the soil but also affected the environmental quality. This article investigates the contents of organic carbon and the nutrients, and the change over the last 20 years in highly productive paddy soils and their environmental application. Field soils were sampled and the analytical results were compared with the corresponding values in the Second Soil Survey in Yujiang County of Jiangxi Province, China. The results showed that surface soils at a depth of 0-10 cm in highly productive paddy fields in Yujiang County of Jiangxi Province had contents of organic carbon （20.2 ±3.88） g kg^-1, total nitrogen （2.09±0.55） g kg^-1, and available phosphorus （42.7 ±32.7） mg kg^-1, respectively, which were all at very rich levels. Over the last 20 years, the organic carbon pool of the highly productive paddy soils reached a steady state. Total N and available P significantly increased, whereas available K changed a little. The amount and percentage of P immobilization in the surface soil （0-10 cm） of highly productive paddy fields were （142.7 ~ 41.1） mg kg-~ and （36.2~ 10.4）% of added P, and CEC （7.93 ~ 1.32） cmol kg-~. These two parameters were not higher than the mean values of paddy soils and upland red soils in the areas. Results also showed that fertilizer P in highly productive paddy soils had a high mobility and was prone to move toward a water body, which is the main source of nutrients causing eutrophication. Because of a weak K-fixing capacity, the available K content was not high in highly productive paddy soils. This suggests that attention should be paid to the K balance and the increase of soil K pool.

AIM： To investigate whether alphastatin could inhibit human gastric cancer growth and furthermore whether sphingosine kinase （SPK） activity is involved in this process. METHODS： Using migration assay, MTT assay and Matrigel assay, the effect of alphastatin on vascular endothelial cells （ECs） was evaluated in vitro. SPK and endothelial differentiation gene （EDG）-1, -3, -5 mRNAs were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）. SPK activity assay was used to evaluate the effect of alphastatin on ECs. Matrigel plug assay in nude mice was used to investigate the effect of alphastatin on angiogenesis in vivo. Female nude mice were subcutaneously implanted with human gastric cancer cells （BGC823） for the tumor xenografts studies. Micro vessel density was analyzed in Factor Ⅷ-stained tumor sections by the immunohistochemical SP method. RESULTS： In vitro, alphastatin inhibited the migration and tube formation of ECs, but had no effect on proliferation of ECs. RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that ECs expressed SPK and EDG-1, -3, -5 mRNAs. In vivo, alphastatin sufficiently suppressed neovascularization of the tumor in the nude mice. Daily administration of alphastatin produced significant tumor growth suppression. Immunohistochemical studies of tumor tissues revealed decreased micro vessel density in alphastatin-treated animals as compared with controls. CONCLUSION： Downregulating ECs SPK activity may be one of the mechanisms that alphastatin inhibits gastric cancer angiogenesis. Alphastatin might be a useful and relatively nontoxic adjuvant therapy in the treatment of gastric cancer.

Improvements in surgical techniques have led to 90% success in the surgical repair of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD).However,anatomical reattachment of the retina does not ensure complete recovery of visual *** incidence of metamorphopsia remains the most common postoperative complaint,from 24% to 88.6%.Currently,the risk factors of metamorphopsia are categorized into macular involvement,retinal shift,outer retinal folds,subretinal fluid,secondary epiretinal membrane,outer retinal layer damage,and surgical *** associations of metamorphopsia with postoperative best-corrected visual acuity and postoperative vision-related quality of life were still *** most popular methods for assessment of metamorphopsia remain the Amsler grid and *** treatments cannot progress beyond the management of negative visual sensations,through methods such as occlusion therapy and aniseikonia-correcting *** main treatment approach involves RRD prevention and the management of risk factors that can lead to postoperative metamorphopsia after RRD *** research concerning metamorphopsia treatment,further upgrades of auxiliary inspection methods,and more accurate microstructural assessments are needed to address this common complication.

Polychlorinated naphthalenes(PCNs)are detrimental to human health and the *** the commercial production of PCNs banned,unintentional releases have emerged as a significant environmental ***,relevant information is still *** this study,provincial emissions for eight PCNs homologues from 37 sources in the Chinese mainland during the period of 1960-2019 were estimated based on a source-specific and time-varying emission factor *** results showed that the total PCNs emissions in 2019 reached 757.0 kg with Hebei ranked at the top among all the provinces and iron&steel industry as the biggest ***-chlorinated PCNs comprised 90%of emissions by mass,while highly chlorinated PCNs dominated in terms of toxicity,highlighting divergent priorities for mitigating emissions and safeguarding human *** emissions showed an overall upward trend from 1960 to 2019 driven by emission increase from iron&steel industry in terms of source,and from North China and East China in terms of geographic ***-capita emissions followed an inverted U-shaped environmental Kuznets curvewhile emission intensities decreased with increasing per-capita Gross Domestic Product(GDP)following a nearly linear pattern when log-transformed.

In order to develop a generic framework capable of designing novel amorphous alloys with selected target properties,a predictor−corrector inverse design scheme(PCIDS)consisting of a predictor module and a corrector module was presented.A high-precision forward prediction model based on deep neural networks was developed to implement these two *** utmost importance,domain knowledge-guided inverse design networks(DKIDNs)and regular inverse design networks(RIDNs)were also *** forward prediction model possesses a coefficient of determination(R^(2))of 0.990 for the shear modulus and 0.986 for the bulk modulus on the testing ***,the DKIDNs model exhibits superior performance compared to the RIDNs *** is finally demonstrated that PCIDS can efficiently predict amorphous alloy compositions with the required target properties.
