Ginsenoside Rb1 induces hepatic stellate cell ferroptosis to alleviate liver fibrosis via the BECN1/SLC7A11 axis

liver fibrosis is primarily driven by the activation of hepatic stellate cells(HSCs),a process associated with *** Rb1(GRb1),a major active component extracted from Panax ginseng,inhibits HSC ***,the potential role of GRb1 in mediating HSC ferroptosis remains *** study examined the effect of GRb1 on liver fibrosis both in vivo and in vitro,using CCl4-induced liver fibrosis mouse model and primary HSCs,LX-2 *** findings revealed that GRb1 effectively inactivated HSCs in vitro,reducing alpha-smooth muscle actin(a-SMA)and type I collagen(Col1A1)***,GRb1 significantly alleviated CCl4-induced liver fibrosis in *** a mechanistic standpoint,the ferroptosis pathway appeared to be central to the antifibrotic effects of ***,GRb1 promoted HSC ferroptosis both in vivo and in vitro,characterized by increased glutathione depletion,malondialdehyde production,iron overload,and accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS).Intriguingly,GRb1 increased Beclin 1(BECN1)levels and decreased the System Xc-key subunit *** experiments showed that BECN1 silencing inhibited GRb1-induced effects on HSC ferroptosis and mitigated the reduction of SLC7A11 caused by ***,BECN1 could directly interact with SLC7A11,initiating HSC *** conclusion,the suppression of BECN1 counteracted the effects of GRb1 on HSC inactivation both in vivo and in ***,this study highlights the novel role of GRb1 in inducing HSC ferroptosis and promoting HSC inactivation,at least partly through its modulation of BECN1 and SLC7A11.

The exploitation of new green polymerization avenues for the effective synthesis of polymers by reversible-deactivation radical polymerization plays a critical role in pursuing the development of polymeric *** this work,serials of deep eutectic solvents(DES)with intermolecular-hydrogen-bonding interaction were constructed as catalysts and medium for actuating reversible complexation-mediated polymerization(RCMP)for the first time,yielding methacrylate polymers with high monomer conversion and narrow dispersion molecular weight in both water and oil *** mechanism and elementary reaction of RCMP were explored deeply,revealing that the complexation of initiator with DES to generate radicals was a ratecontrolling step and intermolecular-hydrogen-bond was primary factor to influence polymerization ***,the insights of density functional theory calculations revealed that negative electrostatic potential ensured nucleophilic *** investigation demonstrated the considerable potential of DES for RCMP,which is anticipated for other polymerization applications as a novel medium mode.

Effect of microalloying on wettability and interface characteristics of Zr-based bulk metallic glasses with W substrate

The infiltration casting method is widely employed for the preparation of ex-situ composite ***,the production of composite materials using this method must necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the wettability and interface characteristics between the reinforcing phase and the bulk metallic glasses(BMGs).This work optimized the composition of Zr-based BMGs through microalloying methods,resulting in a new set of Zr-based BMGs with excellent glass-forming *** experiments between the Zr-based BMGs melts and W substrates were conducted using the traditional sessile drop method,and the interfaces were characterized utilizing a scanning electron microscope(SEM)equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).The work demonstrates that the microalloying method substantially enhances the wettability of the Zr-based BMGs ***,the incorporation of Nb element impedes the formation of W-Zr phases,but the introduction of Nb element does not alter the extent of interdiffusion between the constituent elements of the amorphous matrix and W element,indicating that the influence of Nb element on the diffusion of individual elements is minute.

Rechargeable sodium-ion batteries usually suffer from accelerated electrode destruction at high temperatures and high synthesis costs of electrode ***,it is highly desirable to explore novel organic electrodes considering their cost-effectiveness and large adaptability to volume ***,natural biomass,pristine lignin,is employed as the sodium-ion battery anodes,and their sodium storage performance is investigated at room temperature and 60℃.The lignin anodes exhibit excellent high-temperature sodium-ion battery *** mainly results from the generation of abundant reactive sites(C=O)due to the high temperature-induced homogeneous cleavage of the C_(β)-O bond in the lignin *** work can inspire researchers to explore other natural organic materials for large-scale applications and high-value utilization in advanced energy storage devices.

Confidence Estimation Transformer for Long-Term Renewable Energy Forecasting in Reinforcement Learning-based Power Grid Dispatching

Influence of Nd^(3+) concentration on mid-infrared emission in PbF_(2) crystal co-doped with Ho^(3+) and Nd^(3+) ions

A promising series of Ho_(y)Nd_(x)Pb_((1-x-y))F_2(x = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04;y = 0.02) crystals was grown by the Bridgman method. The influence of the Nd^(3+)ions concentration on mid-infrared(~2.0, ~2.9 and ~3.9 μm)fluorescence emissions of Ho^(3+)ions in the PbF_(2) crystal excited by 808 nm laser diode was investigated in this work. The energy transfer mechanism between Nd^(3+)ions and Ho~(3+)ions under different concentrations of the Nd^(3+)ions was systematically analyzed. The results show that the Nd^(3+)ions have good sensitization and deactivation effect on the Ho^(3+)ions to stimulate the mid-infrared fluorescence emissions. The experimental analysis proves that the sensitization efficiency of the Nd^(3+)ions is relatively stable at around 93.45% with varying Nd^(3+)-doping concentrations. Concentration dependence studies indicate that the concentration of the Nd^(3+)ions has significant influence on mid-infrared *** the doping concentration of the Nd^(3+)ions is up to 2.0 at%, the intensity of ~2.0, ~2.9 and ~3.9 μm emissions all reach the maximum. The output characteristics of a 3.9 μm laser are simulated, and it is found that with the increase of the Nd^(3+)-doping concentration, the peak power, pulse width, and peak energy all meet the trend of first increasing and then decreasing, and Ho_(0.02)Nd_(0.02)Pb_(0.96)F_(2) crystal displays the best performance. All the results show that the Nd^(3+)/Ho^(3+)co-doped PbF_(2) crystals might act as a useful optical medium for mid-infrared laser applications.

Enhancing thermodynamic stability of single-crystal Ni-rich cathode material via a synergistic dual-substitution strategy

Nickel(Ni)-rich cathode materials have become promising candidates for the next-generation electrical vehicles due to their high specific ***,the poor thermodynamic stability(including cyclic performance and safety performance or thermal stability)will restrain their wide commercial ***,a single-crystal Ni-rich li Ni_(0.83)Co_(0.12)Mn_(0.05)O_(2) cathode material is synthesized and modified by a dual-substitution strategy in which the high-valence doping element improves the structural stability by forming strong metal–oxygen binding forces,while the low-valence doping element eliminates high li^(+)/Ni^(2+)*** a result,this synergistic dual substitution can effectively suppress H2-H3 phase transition and generation of microcracks,thereby ultimately improving the thermodynamic stability of Ni-rich cathode ***,the dual-doped Ni-rich cathode delivers an extremely high capacity retention of 81%after 250 cycles(***/li+)in coin-type half cells and 87%after 1000 cycles(***/li^(+))in pouch-type full cells at a high temperature of 55℃.More impressively,the dual-doped sample exhibits excellent thermal stability,which demonstrates a higher thermal runaway temperature and a lower calorific *** synergetic effects of this dual-substitution strategy pave a new pathway for addressing the critical challenges of Ni-rich cathode at high temperatures,which will significantly advance the high-energy-density and high-safety cathodes to the subsequent commercialization.

Despite much research in the field of island biogeography,mechanisms regulating insular diversity remain ***,we aim to explore mechanisms underlying plant species-area relationships in two tropical archipelagoes in the South China *** found positive plant species-area relationships for both coral and continental ***,our results showed that different mechanisms contributed to similar plant species-area relationships between the two *** coral islands,soil nutrients and spatial distance among communities played major roles in shaping plant community structure and species *** contrast,the direct effect of island area,and to a lesser extent,soil nutrients determined plant species richness on continental ***,increasing soil nutrients availability(N,P,K)had opposite effects on plant diversity between the two *** summary,the habitat quality effect and dispersal limitation are important for regulating plant diversity on coral islands,whereas the passive sampling effect,and to a lesser extent,the habitat quality effect are important for regulating plant diversity on continental *** generally,our findings indicate that island plant species-area relationships are outcomes of the interplay of both niche and neutral processes,but the driving mechanisms behind these relationships depends on the type of islands.

CAOSA-extracted lignin improves enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose

The conversion of biomass into sugar platform compounds is very important for the biorefinery industry. Pretreatment is essential to the biomass of the sugar platform, however, the lignin obtained by pretreatment, as a key part of lignocellulose, generally has a passive effect on the enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose into sugars. In this study, p-TsOH(p-toluenesulfonic acid), DES(Deep eutectic solvent) and CAOSA(cooking with active oxygen and solid alkali) pretreatment ways were used to fraction lignin from bamboo biomass. After CAOSA treatment, the hydrolysis efficiency of the pulp was 95.57%. Moreover, the effect of different treatment methods on lignin properties was studied and the promotion effect of lignin was investigated by adding it to the cellulose enzymatic hydrolysis system. In this work, the results showed that CAOSA-extracted lignin with lower ?(1.31–1.25) had a better adsorption effect on the enzyme protein. p-TsOH-extracted lignin with a larger S/G ratio enhanced the inhibition of enzymatic hydrolysis. In addition, the presence of-COOHs in lignin could reduce its inhibitory effect on cellulose saccharification.
