Indus.rial thin-film compos.te(TFC) membranes.achieve s.perior gas.s.paration properties.from high-performance s.lective layer materials.while the s.cces. of membrane technology relies.on high-performance gutter layers.to achieve production s.alability and low-cos. manufacturing. However, the current literature predominantly focus.s.on the des.gn of polymer architectures.to obtain high permeability and s.lectivity, while the art of fabricating gutter layers.is.us.ally s.feguarded by indus.rial manufacturers.and appears.lacklus.er to academic res.archers. This.is.the firs. report aiming to provide a comprehens.ve and critical review of s.ate-of-the-art gutter layer materials.and their des.gn and modification to enable TFC membranes.with s.perior s.paration performance. We firs. elucidate the importance of the gutter layer on membrane performance through modeling and experimental res.lts. Then various.gutter layer materials.us.d to obtain high-performance compos.te membranes.are critically reviewed, and the s.rategies.to improve their compatibility with the s.lective layer are highlighted, s.ch as.oxygen plas.a treatment, polydopamine depos.tion, and s.rface grafting. Finally, we pres.nt the opportunities.of the gutter layer des.gn for practical applications.

Liquid crys.alline polymer-polyamide 66 (LCP/PA66) blends.were compounded by us.ng a Brabender mixing followed by compres.ion moulding. The LCP employed was.a s.mi-flexible liquid crys.alline copolyes.eramide bas.d on 30% (molar fraction ) of p-amino benzoic acid (ABA ) and 70% (molar fraction) of poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The LCP/PA66 blends.were inves.igated in terms.of the thermal and dynamic mechanical properties. It was.found that PA66 and LCP components.of the blends.are mis.ible in the molten s.ate, but are partially mis.ible in the s.lid s.ate. The inclus.on of the s.mi-flexible LCP into PA66 retards.the crys.allization rate of PA66. Furthermore, the melting temperature and the degree of crys.allinity of PA66 are reduced cons.derably due to the LCP addition.

High concentrations.of copper ions.Cu(Ⅱ)) in water will pos. health ris.s.to humans.and the ecological environment. Therefore, this.s.udy aims.to utilize ultras.nic-cured modified municipal s.lid was.e incineration(Ms.I) fly as. for Cu(Ⅱ) ads.rption to achieve the purpos. of “treating was.e by was.e.” The effects.of p H, ads.rption time, initial concentration, and temperature on the modified Ms.I fly as.’s.ads.rption efficiency were s.s.ematically s.udied in this.article. The ads.rption performance of the modified Ms.I fly as. can be enhanced by the ultras.nic modification. At pH = 2, 3 and 4, the ads.rption capacity of the modified Ms.I fly as. for Cu(Ⅱ) increas.d by 2.7, 1.9 and 1.2 times. res.ectively. Furthermore, it was.s.gges.ed that the ads.rption proces. of the modified Ms.I fly as. can be better s.mulated by the ps.udo-s.cond-order kinetic model, with a maximum ads.rption capacity calculated by the Langmuir model of 24.196 mg.g-1. Additionally, the ads.rption proces. is.s.ontaneous.endothermic, and chemis.rption-dominated from the thermodynamic s.udies.ΔH and Δs.> 0, ΔG s.rption performance of the modified Ms.I fly as. for Cu(Ⅱ) may be attributed to electros.atic interaction and chelation effects.

In traditional high-pres.ure–temperature as.embly des.gn, priority has.been given to temperature ins.lation and retention at high *** limits.the efficiency of cooling of s.mples.at the end of experiments. with a negative impact on many s.udies.in high-pres.ure Earth andplanetary s.ience. Inefficient cooling of experiments.containing molten phas.s.at high temperature leads.to the formation of quench textures.which makes.it impos.ible to quantify key compos.tional parameters.of the original molten phas., s.ch as.their volatile contents. Here,we pres.nt a new low-cos. experimental as.embly for rapid cooling in a s.x-anvil cubic pres.. This.as.embly not only retains.high heatingefficiency and thermal ins.lation, but als. enables.a very high cooling rate (∼600 ℃/s.from 1900 ℃ to the glas. trans.tion temperature).Without us.ng expens.ve materials.or external modification of the pres., the cooling rate in an as.embly (∼600 ℃/s. with cube lengths.of38.5 mm is.about ten times.fas.er than that in the traditional as.embly (∼60 ℃/s.. Experiments.yielding inhomogeneous.quenched melttextures.when the traditional as.embly is.us.d are s.own to yield homogeneous.s.licate glas. without quench textures.when the rapid coolingas.embly is.us.d.

We introduce the character of Thurs.on's.circle packings.in the hyperbolic background ***, s.me quite s.mple criteria are obtained for the exis.ence of hyperbolic circle packings. For example,if a clos.d s.rface X admits.a circle packing with all the vertex degrees.d_(i)≥7, then it admits.a unique complete hyperbolic metric s. that the triangulation graph of the circle packing is.is.topic to a geometric decompos.tion of X. This.criterion is.s.arp due to the fact that any clos.d hyperbolic s.rface admits.no triangulations.with all d_(i)≤6. As.a corollary, we obtain a new proof of the uniformization theorem for clos.d s.rfaces.with genus.g≥2;moreover, any hyperbolic clos.d s.rface has.a geometric decompos.tion. To obtain our res.lts. we us. Chow-Luo's.combinatorial Ricci flow as.a fundamental tool.

It is.of great s.ientific and economic value to recycle was.e poly（ethylene terephthalate）(PET) into high-value PET-bas.d metal organic frameworks.MOFs. and further convert it into porous.carbon for green energy s.orage applications. In the pres.nt s.udy, a facile and cos.effective hydrothermal proces. was.developed to direct recycle was.e PET bottles.into MIL-53（Al） with a 100% convers.tion, then the MOFderived porous.carbon was.as.embled into electrodes.for high-performance s.percapacitors. The res.lts.indicated that the as.s.nthes.zed carbon exhibited high s.A of 1712 m2g-1and unique accordion-like s.ructure with hierarchical poros.ty. Benefit to thes. advantageous.characters. the as.embled three-electrode s.percapacitor dis.layed high s.ecific capacitances.of 391 F g-1at the current dens.ty of 0.5 A g-1and good rate capability of 73.6% capacitance retention at 20 A g-1in 6 mol L-1KOH electrolyte. Furthermore, the as.embled zinc ion capacitor s.ill revealed outs.anding capacitance of 335 F g-1at 0.1 A g-1, excellent cycling s.ability of 92.2% capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles.and ultra-high energy dens.ty of 150.3 Wh kg-1at power dens.ty of 90 W kg-1in 3 mol L-1Zns.4electrolyte. It is.believed that the current work provides.a facile and effective s.rategy to recycle PET was.e into high-valuable MOF, and further expands.the applications.of MOF-derived carbons.for high-performance energy s.orage devices. s. it is.conducive to both pollution alleviation and s.s.ainable economic development.
