AuPt bimetallic nanoalloys supported on SBA-15:A superior catalyst for quinoline selective hydrogenation in water

The structure and size of bimetallic catalysts play a crucial role in many important chemical *** synthesis of bimetallic nanoparticles avoiding overgrowth and aggregation can be achieved by surfactants,which are always detrimental to catalytic performances and understanding of structure-property *** of surface-clean bimetallic catalysts with uniform size and well-defined structure is still *** the Au-Pt bimetallic nanoparticles immobilized on SBA-15 were prepared by facile adsorption-reduction *** showed that Au-Pt bimetallic nanoparticles were evenly confined within the mesopores of SBA-15,possessing the uniform size of 6.0 nm and existing in the form of alloy *** the first time the Au-Pt bimetallic nanoalloys with Au-to-Pt molar ratio of 5:1(Au5Pt1@SBA-15)exhibited a lot higher activity than monometallic Au@SBA-15 and Pt@SBA-15 catalysts with excellent selectivity towards 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline for chemoselective hydrogenation of quinoline in water under very mild *** was superior to other heterogeneous catalysts reported to *** observed properties were related to the synergic effect between Au and *** Pt sites of high electron density originated from the electron transfer between Au and Pt enhanced the ability of H_(2) dissociation and then provided a new and main approach to H_(2) splitting,while the Au sites accounted for the adsorption and activation of *** precise synthetic strategy will be very helpful to explore surface-clean gold-based bimetallic catalysts with high performance for selective hydrogenations.

The latest view suggests the inactive core,surface pulverization,and poly sulfide shuttling effect of metal sulfides are responsible for their low capacity and poor cycling performance in sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).Whereas overcoming the above problems based on conventional nanoengineering is not efficient *** this work,erythrocyte-like CuS microspheres with an elastic buffering layer of ultrathin poly aniline(PANI) were synthesized through one-step selfassembly growth,followed by in situ polymerization of *** CuS@PANI is used as anode electrode in SIBs,it delivers high capacity,ultrahigh rate capability(500 mAh gat 0.1 A g,and 214.5 mAh gat 40 A g),and superior cycling life of over 7500 cycles at 20 A g.A series of in/ex situ characterization techniques were applied to investigate the structural evolution and sodium-ion storage *** PANI swollen with electrolyte can stabilize solid electrolyte interface layer,benefit the ion transport/charge transfer at the PANI/electrolyte interface,and restrain the size growth of Cu particles in confined ***,finite element analyses and density functional simulations confirm that the PANI film effectively buffers the volume expansion,suppresses the surface pulverization,and traps the poly sulfide.

Food allergens are mainly naturally-occurring proteins with immunoglobulin E(IgE)-binding *** the structural and immunogenic characteristics of allergenic proteins is essential in assessing whether and how food processing techniques reduce *** here discuss the impacts of food processing technologies on the modification of physicochemical,structural,and immunogenic properties of allergenic *** techniques for characterizing changes in these properties of food allergens are *** processing helps to reduce allergenicity by aggregating or denaturing proteins,which masks,modifies,or destroys antigenic epitopes,whereas,it cannot eliminate allergenicity completely,and sometimes even improves allergenicity by exposing new ***,most food processing techniques have been tested on purified food allergens rather than food products due to potential interference of other food *** provide guidance for further development of processing operations that can decrease the allergenicity of allergenic food proteins without negatively impacting the nutritional profile.

The global market demand for natural astaxanthin is rapidly increasing owing to its safety,the potential health benefits,and the diverse applications in food and pharmaceutical *** major native producers of natural astaxanthin on industrial scale are the alga Haematococcus pluvialis and the yeast Xanthopyllomyces ***,the natural production via these native producers is facing challenges of limited yield and high cost of cultivation and ***,astaxanthin production via metabolically engineered non-native microbial cell factories such as Escherichia coli,Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Yarrowia lipolytica is another promising strategy to overcome these *** this review we summarize the recent scientific and biotechnological progresses on astaxanthin biosynthetic pathways,transcriptional regulations,the interrelation with lipid metabolism,engineering strategies as well as fermentation process control in major native and non-native astaxanthin *** progresses illuminate the prospects of producing astaxanthin by microbial cell factories on industrial scale.

Design and preparation of gradient graphite/cermets self-lubricating composites

Based on the functionally graded materials （FGMs） design concept, the laminated-graded graphite/cermets self-lubricating composite was prepared to achieve the integration of mechanical prop- erties and lubrication performance of the cermet. The effects of the layer number and thickness of graded structure on residual stresses in the gradient composites were investigated by finite element method （FEM）. From the FEM analyses, the optimal gradient structure design was obtained correspond- ing to the following parameters： the number of graded layers n = 2 and the thickness of graded structure t = I ram. According to the optimum design, a graded graphite/cermets self-lubricating material with two layers was fabricated by a typical powder metallurgy technique. Compared with the homogenous graphite/cermets composite, the surface hardness and indentation fracture toughness of graded compos- ite were increased by approximately 15.9% and 6.3%, respectively. The results of X-ray diffraction （XRD） stress measurement identified the existence of residual compressive stress on the surface of graded com- posite. Additionally, the friction and wear tests revealed that the wear resistance of the graphite/cermets self-lubricating composite was improved significantly via the graded structural design, whereas the coefficient of friction changed slightly.

Guaranteed cost control for saturated uncertain linear systems

In this paper, we discuss the problem of guaranteed cost control for uncertain linear systems subject to actuator saturation. Based on the quadratic and non-quadratic Lyapunov functions, sufficient conditions for the robust stability and performance are derived. Moreover, all the conditions can be expressed as linear matrix inequalities （LMIs） or bilinear matrix inequalities （BMIs） in terms of the feedback gain. Thus, the static controller can be effectively synthesized via convex optimization. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the method.

Allergen degradation of bee pollen by lactic acid bacteria fermentation and its alleviatory effects on allergic reactions in BALB/c mice

Food allergy as a global health problem threatens food *** pollen(BP)is a typical food with allergenic potentials,although it performs various nutritional/pharmacological functions to *** this study,lactic acid bacteria(LAB)were used to ferment Brassica napus BP for alleviating its *** novel allergens(glutaredoxin,oleosin-B2,catalase and lipase)were identified with significant decreases in LAB-fermented BP(FBP)than natural BP by ***,metabolomics analysis showed significant increases of 28 characteristic oligopeptides and amino acids in FBP versus BP,indicating the degradation of LAB on ***,FBP showed alleviatory effects in BALB/c mice,which relieved pathological symptoms and lowered production of allergic *** high-throughput sequencing analysis showed that FBP could regulate gut microbiota and metabolism to strengthen immunity,which were closely correlated with the alleviation of allergic *** findings could contribute to the development and utilization of hypoallergenic BP products.

Computational fluid dynamics simulation and experimental study on mixing performance of a three-dimensional circular cyclone-type microreactor

Microchannels enable the fast and efficient mixing of multiphase *** this study, a millimeter-scale three-dimensional(3D) circular cyclone-type microreactor was designed for the *** flow characteristics and mixing intensity were simulated by computational fluid dynamics simulations at a flow rate range of 12–96 m L/min using a water/ethyl acetate *** the 3D variable-diameter structure,the microreactor induced paired opposite vortices and abruptly changed the local pressure to achieve a stable turbulent effect within the theoretical range of laminar *** injection simulations indicated that sufficient mixing units successfully promote fluid ***-coupling experiments showed a segregation index of X_S= 0.00,039 within a residence time of 9 *** experiments on the nbutanol/succinic acid/water system showed that the 3D circular cyclone-type microreactor achieved 100%extraction efficiency(E) in 4.25 s, and the overall volume mass transfer coefficient(K_La) reached 0.05–1.5s^(-1) in 12–96 m L/*** isolated yield of the phase transfer alkylation and oxidation reactions in the 3D circular cyclone-type microreactor achieved 99% within 36 s, which was superior to the coil microreactor and batch reactor.

Effect of yttrium on catalytic performance of Y-doped TiO_(2) catalysts for propane dehydrogenation

Defective bulk catalysts based on TiO_(2) have superior catalytic performance for propane dehydrogenation(PDH).The oxygen vacancy concentration and the number of active sites on the catalyst surface can be effectively tuned by doping metal in TiO_(2).Herein,yttrium(Y)-doped titanium dioxide(nY/TiO_(x))catalysts were in-situ synthesized via the coprecipitation method to study the effect of rare earth metal Y doping on the structure of TiO_(2) and the catalytic performance for *** results demonstrate that Ydoped TiO_(2) exhibits higher catalytic activity,propylene selectivity and stability than bare TiO_(2).Full characterizations with X-ray diffraction(XRD),high-resolution transmission electron microscope(HRTEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),infrared spectroscopy of pyridine adsorption(Py-IR),temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia(NH_(3)-TPD),H_(2) temperature-programmed reduction(H_2-TPR),and Raman techniques on these catalysts reveal that Y^(3+)can enter TiO_(2) lattice,and the lattice stability of the catalyst can be enhanced by replacing Ti^(4+)to form Y-O-Ti ***,the introduction of an appropriate amount of Y can obviously promote the PDH reaction by adjusting the acidity of the catalyst,improving the release capacity of TiO_(2) lattice oxygen and increasing the formation of active ***,excessive Y doping will lead to pore clogging,and the exposure of active sites will be reduced,resulting in the degradation of catalytic performance.
