Long-term outcomes of very low birth weight infants with intraventricular hemorrhage:a nationwide population study from 2011 to 2019

Background Advancements in neonatal care have increased preterm infant survival but paradoxically raised intraventricular hemorrhage(IVH)*** study explores IVH prevalence and long-term outcomes of very low birth weight(VLBW)infants in Korea over a *** Using Korean National Health Insurance data(NHIS,2010-2019),we identified 3372 VLBW infants with IVH among 4,129,808 live ***-related claims data,encompassing diagnostic codes,diagnostic test costs,and administered procedures were sourced from the NHIS *** results of the developmental assessments are categorized into four groups based on standard deviation(SD)*** characteristics and complications were compared among the *** regression models were employed to identify significant changes in the incidence of complications and to calculate odds ratios with corresponding 95%confidence intervals for each risk factor associated with mortality and morbidity in ***-term growth and development were compared between the two groups(years 2010-2013 and 2014-2017).Results IVH prevalence was 12%in VLBW and 16%in extremely low birth weight(ELBW)*** the past decade,IVH rates increased significantly in ELBW infants(P=0.0113),while mortality decreased(P=0.0225).Major improvements in certain neurodevelopmental outcomes and reductions in early morbidities have been observed among VLBW infants with *** percent of the population received surgical treatments such as external ventricular drainage(EVD)or a ventriculoperitoneal(VP)shunt,with the choice of treatment methods remaining consistent over *** IVH with surgical intervention group exhibited higher incidences of delayed development,cerebral palsy,seizure disorder,and growth failure(height,weight,and head circumference)up to 72 months of age(P<0.0001).Surgical treatments were also significantly associated with abnormal developmental screening test *** The neurodevelopmental outcomes of infa

我们以Morwell和Coolungoolun两种维多利亚褐煤进行实验,对铁和锡在煤的液化中的催化作用进行了比较,发现锡对低硫的Morwell煤较为有效,而铁则更适合于高硫的Coolungoolun煤。对液化余渣的穆斯堡尔分析的结果,使我们可以用低硫煤中元素态锡的形成以及在高硫煤中磁黄铁矿（Fe_(0.92)S）的形成来对观察到的现象作出解释。硫的损耗数据表明,磁黄铁矿的存在使得煤中的硫转化为气相的量增加了。

Pyogenic liver abscess as the first manifestation of hepatobiliary malignancy

BACKGROUND:Pyogenic liver abscess(PLA)is commonly seen in patients in the Far ***,hepatobiliary neoplasms are also *** as the initial manifestation of hepatobiliary neoplasms is extremely rare. METHOD:Three patients with PLA were identified from the ward registion files and were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS:These patients(two men aged 74 and 80 years, and one woman aged 35 years)were treated(in the right lobe in two patients and in the left lobe in one)and subsequently followed up for 11-22 *** patients were diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma and one with metastatic *** patients were subjected to biopsies showing features of inflammatory pseudotumor before a diagnosis of hepatocellular *** patient underwent hepatic resection with good *** the other two patients who declined any further interventions,one died a few weeks after diagnosis and the other is still alive on conservative treatment. CONCLUSIONS:This series of cases highlights the importance of considering underlying hepatobiliary malignancies in patients with PLA and a close follow-up necessary for non-resolving hepatic lesions.

Velocity and Sediment Concentration Profiles in Sediment-Laden Flows

A theoretical analysis of velocity profiles in sediment-laden flows is presented by means of Prandtl-Karman mixing length theorem. The study shows that the upward velocity of liquid-phase caused by settling sediment leads to the invalidity of the log-law and Rouse equation. The theoretical analysis takes into account the upward velocity and shows: 1) the mean velocity in sediment-laden flows follows the log-law, but the Karman constant reduces in the main flow region, 2) sediment concentration reduces the mixing length of fluid particles, 3) flow resistance reduces with the presence of sediment concentration, and 4) the sediment concentration profile deviates from the well know Rouse equation. The experimental data agree well with the equations derived on the basis of non-zero wall velocity. It is found that the wall-normal velocity should not be neglected for density gradient flows because it induces more than for pure water flows.

Genetic differentiation in two widespread, open-forest bird species of Southeast Asia （Copsychus saularis and Megalaima haemacephala）： Insights from ecological niche modeling

Ecological niche modeling has emerged as an useful tool in the investigation of the phylogeographic histories of species or communities in a region. The high biodiversity （oftentimes cryptic）, and complex geography and geological history of Southeast Asia particularly call for multipronged approaches in phylogeographic investigations. Past studies have focused on taxa that are associated with lowland rainforests, which is the dominant natural vegetation type. Here, we combine published phylogenetic data, ecological niche modeling and paleo-climate models to reveal potential drivers of divergence in two open-forest bird species, the oriental magpie-robin Copsychus saularis and Coppersmith barbet Megalaima haemacephala. In spite of broad overlap in current distributions, there are subtle differences in their climatic niches, which result in different responses to past climatic changes. For C saularis, both Last Glacial Maximum climate models indicated that the entire Sundaland was climati- cally suitable, while phylogenetic analyses found divergent eastern and western Sundaland lineages. We thus postulate that this genetic divergence was a result of past separations of coastal habitats into eastern and western portions due to the emergence of Sunda shelf as sea-level fell. The current separation of morphological subspecies in Borneo is maintained by low climatic suitability （high annual rainfall） in certain regions. The extirpation of M. haemacephala from Borneo and southern Malay Peninsula might have been driven by unsuitable conditions （high temperature seasonality） in central Sundaland and/or the lack of open woodlands. Our study shows that ecological niche modeling adds a powerful dimension to our attempt to understand lineage evolution in space [Current Zoology 61 （5）： 922-934, 2015].

BACKGROUND:Gallstone disease is common,and complications that are frequently encountered include acute cholecystitis and acute pancreatitis,but rarely gallbladder perforation. METHOD:Data were retrospectively collected from clinical case notes and a literature review is presented. RESULTS:A 72-year-old lady presented with spontaneous gallbladder perforation,pericholecystic abscess and cholecystoduodenal fistula as the first manifestations of gallstone *** was previously well and had no abdominal *** condition was successfully managed with initial antibiotic therapy followed by interval cholecystectomy and fistula repair. CONCLUSIONS:Our case highlighted some uncommon but severe complications which occurred simultaneously as the first manifestations of previously asymptomatic gallstone *** complications need to be considered in patients suspected of intra-abdominal sepsis,even when there are no characteristic symptoms.

A Wavelet Approach for Partial Occluded Object Recognition

A complete 2-D object recognition algorithm applicable for both standalone and partial occluded object is presented. The main contributions in our work are: we developed a scale and partial occlusion invariant boundary partition algorithm and a multiresolution feature extraction algorithm using wavelet. We also implemented a hierarchical matching strategy for feature matching to reduce computational load,but increase matching accuracy. Experiment result shows proposed recognition algorithm is robust to similarity transform and partial occlusion.

Down-scaled regional ocean modeling system (ROMS) for high-resolution coastal hydrodynamics in Korea

A down-scaled operational oceanographic system is developed for the coastal waters of Korea using a re- gional ocean modeling system （ROMS）. The operational oceanographic modeling system consists of at- mospheric and hydrodynamic models. The hydrodynamic model, ROMS, is coupled with wave, sediment transport, and water quality modules. The system forecasts the predicted results twice a day on a 72 h basis, including sea surface elevation, currents, temperature, salinity, storm surge height, and wave information for the coastal waters of Korea. The predicted results are exported to the web-GIS-based coastal informa- tion system for real-time dissemination to the public and validation with real-time monitoring data using visualization technologies. The ROMS is two-way coupled with a simulating waves nearshore model, SWAN, for the hydrodynamics and waves, nested with the meteorological model, WRE for the atmospheric surface forcing, and externally nested with the eutrophication model, CE-QUAL-ICM, for the water quality. The op- erational model, ROMS, was calibrated with the tidal surface observed with a tide-gage and verified with current data observed by bottom-mounted ADCP or AWAC near the coastal waters of Korea. To validate the predicted results, we used real-time monitoring data derived from remote buoy system, HF-radar, and geostationary ocean color imager （GOCI）. This down-scaled operational coastal forecasting system will be used as a part of the Korea operational oceanographic system （KOOS） with other operational oceanographic systems.

Effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge extract and its single components on monosodium urate-induced pain in vivo and lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in vitro

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the possible antinociceptive effects of Salvia(S.)miltiorrhiza Bunge and its single components in monosodium urate(MSU)-induced pain model in mice and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced inflammation model in RAW264.7 ***:Pretreatment of *** Bunge extract(from 1 to 50μg/mL)concentration-dependently attenuated LPS-induced nitric oxide(NO)*** extract of *** Bunge(50 or 100 mg/kg)also caused reversals of decreased threshold for pain in the MSU-treated group as measured by Von-Frey ***,we assessed the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of the active single components from *** Bunge such as 15,16-dihydrotanshinoneⅠ,tanshinoneⅠ,cryptotanshinone,miltirone,tanshinoneⅡA,and salvianolic acid *** of them showed an anti-inflammatory effect in LPS-induced NO release model and an antinociceptive effect in MSU-treated pain ***:Our results suggest that *** Bunge extract may exert anti-inflammatory effect by reducing LPS-induced NO release and an antinociceptive property in MSU-treated pain ***,tanshinoneⅡA,miltirone,cryptotanshinone,and 15,16-dihydrotanshinoneⅠ,not only appear to be responsible for LPS-induced NO release induced by *** Bunge,but also in the production of *** Bunge extract-induced antinociception in MSU-treated pain ***:Therefore,the analgesic and anti-inflammatory property of *** Bunge indicate it as a therapeutic potential candidate for the treatment of pain and inflammation.
