Direct ink writing to fabricate porous acetabular cups from titanium alloy

Acetabular cups,which are among themost important implants in total hip arthroplasty,are usually made from titanium alloys with high porosity and adequate mechanical *** current three-dimensional(3D)printing approaches to fabricate customized acetabular cups have some inherent disadvantages such as high cost and energy consumption,residual thermal stress,and relatively low ***,in this work,a direct ink writing method was developed to print a cup structure at room temperature,followed by multi-step heat treatment to form microscale porous structure within the acetabular *** method is facilitated by the development of a self-supporting titanium-6 aluminum-4 vanadium(Ti64)ink that is composed of Ti64 particles,bentonite yield-stress additive,ultraviolet curable polymer,and *** effects of Ti64 and bentonite concentrations on the rheological properties and printability of inks were systematically ***,the printing conditions,geometrical limitations,and maximum curing depth were ***,some complex 3D structures,including lattices with different gap distances,honeycomb with a well-defined shape,and an acetabular cup with uniformly distributed micropores,were successfully printed/fabricated to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Biodegradable polymer vascular stents(BPVSs)have been widely used in percutaneous coronary interventions for the treatment of coronary artery *** development of BPVSs is an integrated process that combines material design/selection,manufacturing,and performance ***-dimensional(3D)printing technology is a powerful tool for polymer stent *** review studies have focused primarily on the material and structural design of polymer stents but have failed to comprehensively discuss different 3D printing approaches and stent characterization *** this paper,we address these shortcomings by discussing 3D printing methods and their application in ***,some commonly used 3D printing methods(including material extrusion,vat polymerization,and powder bed fusion)and potential 3D printing strategies(including material jetting and binder jetting)for fabricating BPVSs are discussed;furthermore,the main post-treatments are ***,techniques to characterize the morphology,mechanical properties,and biological prop-erties of the printed BPVSs are ***,representative commercial BPVSs and lab-grade BPVSs are ***,based on the limitations of stent printing and characterization processes,future perspec-tives are proposed,which may help develop new techniques to fabricate more customized stents and accurately evaluate their performance.

Loss of function of the von Hippel-Lindau(VHL)tumor suppressor gene is a hallmark of clear cell renal cell carcinoma(ccRCC).The importance of heterogeneity in the loss of this tumor suppressor has been under *** study the impact of intratumoral VHL heterogeneity observed in human ccRCC,we engineered VHL gene deletion in four RCC models,including a new primary tumor cell line derived from an aggressive metastatic *** VHL gene-deleted(VHL-KO)cells underwent epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT)and exhibited increased motility but diminished proliferation and tumorigenicity compared to the parental VHL-expressing(VHL+)*** tumors with either VHL+or VHL-KO cells alone exhibit minimal metastatic *** tumors displayed rampant lung metastases,highlighting a novel cooperative metastatic *** poorly proliferative VHL-KO cells stimulated the proliferation,EMT,and motility of neighboring VHL+***(POSTN),a soluble protein overexpressed and secreted by VHL non-expressing(VHL−)cells,promoted metastasis by enhancing the motility of VHL-WT cells and facilitating tumor cell vascular *** deletion or antibody blockade of POSTN dramatically suppressed lung metastases in our preclinical *** work supports a new strategy to halt the progression of ccRCC by disrupting the critical metastatic crosstalk between heterogeneous cell populations within a tumor.

Dwarf Water Lilies Nymphoides aquatica(***)Kuntze have floating and submerged *** submerged aquatic vascular plants have a form of CAM(Crassulacean Acid Metabolism)called Submerged Aquatic Macrophyte(SAM)***-diode based PAM technology was used to measure the Photosynthetic Oxygen Evolution Rate(POER:1O_(2)≡4e^(-)).Optimum Irradiance(E_(opt)),maximum POER(POER_(max))and quantum efficiency(α_(0))all vary on a diurnal *** shape of the POER vs.E curves is different in seedling,submerged and surface *** E_(opt) and POER_(max) are very low in seedling leaves(E_(opt)≈104μmol photon m^(-2) s^(-1),PPFD;POER_(max)≈4.95µmol O_(2) g^(-1) Chl a s^(-1)),intermediate in mature submerged leaves(E_(opt)≈419µmol photon m^(-2) s^(-1) PPFD,POER_(max)≈38.1µmol O_(2) g^(-1) Chl a s^(-1))and very high in surface leaves(E_(opt)≈923µmol photon m^(-2) s^(-1) PPFD,POER_(max)≈76.1µmol O_(2) g^(-1) Chl a s^(-1)).Leaf titratable acid(C4 acid pool)is too small(≈20 to 50 mol H+m^(-3))to support substantial SAM *** daily photosynthesis of surface leaves is≈3.71 g C m^(-2) d^(-1) in full sun and as much as 1.4 gC m^(-2) d^(-1) in shaded submerged *** is midday inhibition of photosynthesis.
