phenolic compounds are related to high biological activity,avoiding oxidation in food and human *** are by-products derived from the pecan nut processing that contain important amounts of phenols which biological activity must be *** research aimed to evaluate the antioxidant(DppH,ABTS,FRAp and hemolysis)and anti-inflammatory activities of shell extracts from pecan nuts harvested during the crop production cycle 2018 and 2019,as well as the in vitro digestibility of their phenolic compounds,including *** showed that extracts from the crop production cycle 2018 obtained the highest yield,while those from 2019 contained the highest concentration of phenolic compounds,flavonoids and antioxidant capacity determined by DppH(22.96 mmol ET),ABTS(91.55 mmol ET)and inhibition of hemolysis(92.12%).The anti-inflammatory activity exhibited an inhibition of the elastase enzyme up to 50 min and the bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds reached up to 32%.These results showed that pecan nutshell extracts are an important source of biologically active compounds,thus,they are suitable to be used as commodities in different fields such as agricultural,food and pharmaceutical *** studies must be carried out in order to elucidate the activity of nutshell extracts within in vivo systems.

We revise the notion of von Neumann regularity in JB^＊-triples by finding a new characterisation in terms of the range of the quadratic operator Q（a）. We introduce the quadratic conorm of an element a in a JB^＊-triple as the minimum reduced modulus of the mapping Q（a）. It is shown that the quadratic conorm of a coincides with the infimum of the squares of the points in the triple spectrum of a. It is established that a contractive bijection between JBW^＊-triples is a triple isomorphism if, and only if, it preserves quadratic conorms. The continuity of the quadratic conorm and the generalized inverse are discussed. Some applications to C^＊-algebras and von Neumann algebras are also studied.

Environmental Enrichment and Its Effect on the Welfare of Two Asian Elephants in Africam Safari Wildlife Conservation park (puebla, Mexico)

Animal welfare is important in zoos to maintain the physical well-being and psychological health of individuals. An animal is considered to have welfare if it has good nutrition and also expresses its innate behavior, including sensations and feelings experienced as a result of physical health. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of environmental enrichment on the behaviors of two Asian elephants in a wildlife conservation park. The behavior of two Asian elephants, a 46-year-old male and a 59-year-old female, was observed. Behavior was measured by quantifying the frequency, latency, and duration of behavioral actions. Measurements were done with ad libitum sampling during 5 days of testing, then observations were recorded with focal sampling for 25 days with environmental enrichment and 25 days without enrichment. Data were analyzed with the Chi-square statistical test using the statistical program SpSS 20, observing significant differences (p the application of environmental enrichment. The frequency of maintenance behaviors was higher when environmental enrichment was provided, and the frequency of social conducts (affiliative and agonistic) decreased. In fact, the behaviors most frequently presented by elephants with and without environmental enrichment were definitely maintenance behaviors. The environmental enrichment program helped to reduce the duration of abnormal behaviors and increase the frequency of typical behaviors of the species. It also increased independent movements within the exhibition area and helped to know each of the elephants individually in order to apply each enrichment combination according to their needs.

precipitation kinetics of carbides during cyclical and isothermal aging of 2.25Cr–1Mo steel and its effect on mechanical properties

The carbide precipitation was analyzed during aging of 2.25Cr–1Mo steel at 550℃.The as-received steel was aged in two different manners:the first treatment was an isothermal aging at 550℃ for time up to 1000 h,and the second one was carried out by a cyclical aging,which consisted of aging at 550℃ for 1 h,water quenching at room temperature and then newly heating at 550℃.This procedure was repeated up to 300 *** M_(23)C_(6) and M6C carbide precipitation took place intragranularly and intergranularly for both aging *** carbide coarsening was detected to occur with the increasing aging ***,the growth kinetics of precipitation occurred more rapidly in the case of cyclical *** specimen hardness decreased with the aging time in both cases;however,it occurred in shorter aging time for the cyclical *** testing indicated the increase in ductility with the aging time,and the cyclically aged specimens showed larger ductility than the isothermally aged specimens.

Introduction: Neisseria is a large genus of bacteria that colonize mucosal surfaces. Of the 11 species that colonize humans, only two are pathogens, N. meningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae. Both are obligate human pathogens;the last is causal agent of gonorrhea disease. Although curable with timely antibiotic treatment, an annual incidence of more than 62 million cases is estimated by the World Health Organization and there are no successful vaccines available. In contrast, several prophylactic vaccine options for Neisseria meningitidis meningitis do exist. Of note, there is trace of cross parenteral response induced between N. meningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae, and proteoliposome (pL, also named outer membrane vesicles, OMV) vaccine has shown high impact on this response. Objective: To determine effect of VAMENGOC-BC? and its derivates (AFpL1 and AFCo1) at mucosal and systemic level and possible cross response against Neisseria gonhorroeae in Balb/c and C57Bl/6 mice. Methods: We evaluated cross response against N. gonorrhoeae in mouse serum IgG and saliva IgA after mucosal immunization with VA-MENGOC-BC or its derivatives (AF, Adjuvant Finlay pL1 or AFCo (cochleate) 1). Results: Immunizations with AFpL1 or AFCo1 induce anti N. gonorrhoeae at saliva IgA and serum IgG responses similar to VA-MENGOC-BC? vaccine. Conclusions: Such data confirms a new possible window of prime-boost vaccination strategy against gonorrhea and extends our knowledge regarding the effect of pL vaccines on cross responses.

Degradation of Oxo-Degradable-polyethylene and polylactic Acid Films Embodied in the Substrate of the Edible Fungus pleurotus ostreatus

Degradable plastic mulch is being used to overcome the negative environmental impacts of burning and landfilling agricultural plastic waste. In this study p. ostreatus was used to model the capacity of a vegetal species to degrade conventional and degradable plastic films. plastics studied were oxo-degradable polyethylene (OXO-pE), UV-irradiated oxo-degradable polyethylene (UV-OXO-pE), polylactic acid (pLA) and conventional polyethylene (C-pE). The cultivation of p. ostreatus resulted in a reduction in the median of weight (78.2% - 80.2%) and volume (56.1% - 60.1%) of the substrate (wheat straw). Degradation of the plastics embodied was evidenced by a reduction in the median of the elongation at break (OXO-pE 475% to 109%, UV-OXO-pE 23% to 8%, pLA 596% to 398% and C-pE 505% to 304%) and an increase in the median of the carbonyl index (OXO-pE 0.062 to 0.114, UV-OXO-pE 0.098 to 0.145 and pLA 0.024 to 0.034). The Kruskal-Wallis test found no statistical difference (p = 0.384) between the medians of the biological efficiency for substrates containing plastics and the substrate without plastic. In conclusion, plastics embodied in the substrates used for cultivation of p. ostreatus are degraded and the degradation of these plastics does not affect the short term growth of p. ostreatus.

Effect of Water Regimes on Dietary Fiber, polyphenols and Antioxidant Capacity of Black and pinto Beans

Beans are rich in dietary fiber and polyphenols;however, growing conditions may affect the occurrence of these components. The effect of irrigation and rain fed conditions on dietary fiber, indigestible fraction, polyphenols and antioxidant capacity of Black 8025 and pinto Durango bean cultivars grown in Mexico have been determined. Total dietary fiber decreased in beans grown under rain fed conditions compared to those grown under irrigation. The water regimes had an effect on the total indigestible fraction for Black 8025 bean. The extractable polyphenols were affected by the water regimes, while the antioxidant capacity of extractable and non-extractable polyphenols was dependent on the bean variety. Cooking the beans altered the extractable and non-extractable polyphenols and the antioxidant capacity. Also, the antioxidant properties and some extend, the digestibility of non-digestible carbohydrates of beans were affected by water regimes. This information could be taken into account for dry bean breeding programs to improve the nutritional quality of beans.

The kitchen in urban dwellings in Barcelona, 1920-1950： Out of step with modern architecture

Changes in spaces for cooking and eating are fundamental to modern architecture. proposals and studies conducted in America from the 19th century and in Europe mainly from the 1920s have caused architectural debates on the nature of the kitchen space, i.e., to achieve either spaces that are organized and efficient or spaces for working and living. Modern architecture has transformed the kitchen and determined its appearance throughout the 20th century. The intensity of this transformation has depended on social, technical, and architectural *** this study, we focus on how modern architectural approaches influenced dwellings in Barcelona, Spain between the 1920s and the 1950s. The study demonstrates that changes did not occur regularly and were limited to the incorporation of certain services or technological improvements. During this period, cooking and eating spaces were not considered in depth and were treated as areas of secondary importance within dwellings. Changes only became significant from the 1950s onward, when economic improvements, technological innovations, the housing problem, and the gradual arrival of Western cultural references changed the values of these spaces.
