Luteolin protects PC12 cells from rotenone-induced apoptosis

The 4-hydroxy-flavonoid compound luteolin is a phytoestrogen with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. The present study analyzed the protective effects of luteolin against rotenone-induced PC12 cell apoptosis in a model of Parkinson＇s disease （PD）. Rotenone （1.6 μmol/L） was utilized to establish the In vitro PD model, resulting in low cell viability and an apoptotic rate of 36.1%. Luteolin （100 μmol/L） pretreatment significantly ameliorated rotenone-induced damage, improved cell morphology and viability, decreased comet tail length, reduced the rate of apoptosis （11.8%）, and down-regulated cleaved caspase-3 expression. Results demonstrate that luteolin protects PC12 cells against rotenone-induced apoptosis by decreasing cleaved caspase-3 expression.

The death of retinal ganglion cells is a hallmark of many optic neurodegenerative diseases such as glaucoma and retinopathy. Oxidative stress is one of the major reasons to cause the cell death. Oligomeric proanthocyanidin has many health beneficial effects including antioxidative and neuro- protective actions. Here we tested whether oligomeric proanthocyanidin may protect retinal gan- glion cells against oxidative stress induced-apoptosis in vitro. Retinal ganglion cells were treated with hydrogen peroxide with or without oligomeric proanthocyanidin. 3-（4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl）- 2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide （MTT） assay showed that treating retinal ganglion cell line RGC-5 cells with 20 pmol/L oligomeric proanthocyanidin significantly decreased the hydrogen peroxide （H202） induced death. Results of flow cytometry and Hoechst staining demonstrated that the death of RGC-5 cells was mainly caused by cell apoptosis. We further found that expression of pro-apoptotic Bax and caspase-3 were significantly decreased while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 was greatly increased in H202 damaged RGC-5 cells with oligomeric proanthocyanidin by western blot assay. Furthermore, in retinal explant culture, the number of surviving retinal ganglion cells in H202-damaged retinal ganglion cells with oligomeric proanthocyanidin was significantly increased. Our studies thus demonstrate that oligomeric proanthocyanidin can protect oxidative stress-injured retinal ganglion cells by inhibiting apoptotic process.

Objectives:To explore the clinical manifestations and pathological features in the biopsy of ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor,as well as to improve the clinical understanding of the ***:A case of pregnancy and childbirth after Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor resection was retrospectively *** patients’clinical data were collected,including the clinical manifestations,postoperative biopsy results,auxiliary examination results,immunohistochemical results,treatment,and prognosis of the ***:(1)SLCT occurred unilaterally;(2)according to the International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology(FIGO),the clinical staging was stage IA;according to the pathological classification of malignant tumors,it was gradeⅡ(moderately differentiated);(3)a healthy female live baby was ***:Such tumors are rare low-grade malignancies and are even rarer in *** increase in preoperative testosterone levels with positive ultrasonography results can be used to assist diagnosis;however,postoperative biopsy pathology remains the“gold standard”for the diagnosis of *** definite diagnosis of SLCTs is of great significance for surgical planning and prognostic evaluation.

Background Cesarean scar pregnancy （CSP） is a very rare but life-threatening entity and there is no optimal management *** we report a successfully conservative treatment of *** We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 54 women with CSP,who underwent uterine artery embolization between January 2007 and September 2012 at the Peking University People＇s *** evaluated the clinical outcomes,the technique and the complications of uterine artery *** Of the 54 patients,2 patients with hemorrhage after induced abortion received bilateral uterine artery embolization treatment alone,and 52 patients underwent suction curettage after bilateral uterine artery *** 54 women were successfully cured,without any severe complications,and uterine function was *** the follow-up,one patient had accidental normal interuterine pregnancy and received induced abortion during the first *** Uterine artery embolization combined with suction curettage is an effective and safe conservative treatment for cesarean scar pregnancy.

Air DTH hammer has been successfully applied in minor-caliber solid mineral exploration,water-well drilling and other drilling areas. In order to expand the applications of the technology,the authors further studied the principle and analyzed the mechanism of reverse circulation drilling technique with air DTH hammer to get the perfect assembles of equipments by optimizing working parameters. No parameter seemed more important than the air volume because it could maintain the working performance stability. The minimum air volume is related to the parameters such as depth and pressure,which was calculated under the actual conditions. It was solved for the air injection flow tables of the air DTH Hammer working at the different pressures. According to the data tables,operators could adjust the air volume to meet the demand on this technique,which had a realistic guiding significance. So it could build up a set of systematic and complete hi-technique.

In order to satisfy operating requirements for constant core drilling technology in reverse circulation with hollow-through DTH,the power unit of G-3 engineering driller was ameliorated. The new one with dual channel drive shaft, achieved the perfect assemble with transmission structure of the original power unit. It could interconvert according to need by using two sets of drive shafts with direct and reverse circulation. The repacked G-3 engineering driller carried on experiment in the field test in Luanchuan molybdenum mine of Henan, whose effect was very good.
