Antibiofilm activity of alpha-mangostin loaded nanoparticles against Streptococcus mutans

Objective:to investigate the antibiofilm activity of alphamangostin(AMG)loaded nanoparticle(nano AMG)against dental caries pathogen Streptococcus ***:AMG was isolated from the peels of Garcinia mangostana *** silica gel columns and chemically analysed by high performance liquid chromatography and nuclear magnetic *** AMG was prepared using the solvent evaporation method combined with high-speed *** nanoparticles were characterized using dynamic light scattering,field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FtIR).the toxicity of nano AMG in fibroblast NIH/3 t3 cell line was determined using Mtt *** antibiofilm effect of nano AMG was determined through the evaluation of biofilm formation by Streptococcus mutans using a 96-well *** biomass was quantified using crystal *** viability was observed under confocal microscopy using LIVE/DEAD Bac Light ***,gene expression was determined by quantitative real-time PCR and membrane permeabilization activity by measuring the uptake of o-nitrophenol-β-***:Nano AMG size was in a range of 10-50 nm with a polydispersity index ofta potential value of-35.2 m *** size and the incorporation of AMG in the nanoparticles were confirmed by FE-SEM and FtIR *** IC50 values of the test agents on NIH/3 t3 cells were(9.80±0.63)μg/m L for AMG and(8.70±0.81)μg/m L for nano AMG,while no toxicity was generated from excipients used to prepare *** the early stage of biofilm formation,treatment with 6.25μmol/L nano AMG caused a reduction in biofilm biomass up to 49.1%,compared to 33.4%for *** contrast,biofilms at the late stage were more resistant to the test *** 96μmol/L(=10×MIC),nano AMG reduced only 20.7%of biofilm biomass while AMG did not showany *** of gtf B and gtf C genes involved in biofilm formation were down-regulated 3.3 and 12.5 folds,res

In recent years,pediatric health care has embraced the concept of quality improvement to improve patient *** quality improvement efforts are implemented,network collaboration(where multiple centers and practices implement standardized programs)is a popular *** a collaborative network,improvement in the conduct of structural,process and outcome quality measures can lead to improvements in overall health,and benchmarks can be used to assess and compare *** this review article,we provided an overview of the quality improvement movement and the role of quality indicators in this *** reviewed current quality improvement efforts in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD),as well as other pediatric chronic *** discussed the need to standardize the development of quality indicators used in quality improvement networks to assess medical care,and the validation techniques which can be used to ensure that process indicators result in improved outcomes of clinical *** aimed to assess current quality improvement efforts in pediatric IBD and other diseases,such as childhood asthma,childhood arthritis,and neonatal *** doing so,we hope to learn from their successes and failures and to move the field forward for future improvements in the care provided to children with IBD.

the brain is a complex network system that has the capacity to support emotion, thought, action, learning and memory, and is characterized by constant activity, constant structural remodeling, and constant attempt to compensate for this remodeling. the basic insight that emerges from complex network organization is that substantively different networks can share common key organizational principles. Moreover, the interdependence of network organization and behavior has been successfully demonstrated for several specific tasks. From this viewpoint, increasing experimental/clinical observations suggest that mental disorders are neural network disorders. On one hand, single psychiatric disorders arise from multiple, multifactorial molecular and cellular structural/functional alterations spreading throughout local/global circuits leading to multifaceted and heterogeneous clinical symptoms. On the other hand, various mental diseases may share functional deficits across the same neural circuit as reflected in the overlap of symptoms throughout clinical diagnoses. An integrated framework including experimental measures and clinical observations will be necessary to formulate a coherent and comprehensive understanding of how neural connectivity mediates and constraints the phenotypic expression of psychiatric disorders.
