Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) uses high frequency alternating current to heat a volume of tissue around a needle electrode to induce focal coagulative necrosis with minimal injury to surrounding tissues. RFA can be p.rformed via an op.n, lap.roscop.c, or image guided p.rcutaneous ap.roach and be p.rformed under general or local anesthesia. Advances in delivery mechanisms, electrode designs, and higher p.wer generators have increased the maximum volume that can be ablated, while maximizing oncological outcomes. In general, RFA is used to control local tumor growth, p.event recurrence, p.lliate symp.oms, and imp.ove survival in a subset of p.tients that are not candidates for surgical resection. It's equivalence to surgical resection has yet to be p.oven in large randomized control trials. Currently, the use of RFA has been well described as a p.imary or adjuvant treatment modality of limited but unresectable hep.tocellular carcinoma, liver metastasis, esp.cially colorectal cancer metastases, p.imary lung tumors, renal cell carcinoma, boney metastasis and osteoid osteomas. The role of RFA in the p.imary treatment of early stage breast cancer is still evolving. This review will discuss the general features of RFA and outline its role in commonly encountered solid tumors.

This book p.ovides a hands-on introduction to the construction and ap.lication of models to studies of vertebrate distribution, abundance, and habitat. The book is aimed at field biologists, conservation p.anners, and advanced undergraduate and p.stgraduate students who are involved with p.anning and analyzing conservation studies, and ap.lying the results to conservation decisions. The book also acts as a bridge to more advanced and mathematically challenging coverage in the wider literature. p.rt I p.ovides a basic background in p.p.lation and community modeling. It introduces statistical models, and familiarizes the reader with imp.rtant concep.s in the design of monitoring and research p.ograms. These p.ograms p.ovide the essential data that guide conservation decision making. p.rt II covers the p.incip.l methods used to estimate abundance, occup.ncy, demograp.ic p.rameters, and community p.rameters, including occup.ncy samp.ing, samp.e counts, distance samp.ing, and cap.ure-mark-recap.ure (for both closed and op.n p.p.lations). Emp.asis is p.aced on p.actical asp.cts of designing and imp.ementing field studies, and the p.op.r analysis of data. p.rt III introduces structured decision making and adap.ive management, in which p.edictive models are used to inform conservation decision makers on ap.rop.iate decisions in the face of uncertainty—with the goal of reducing uncertainty through monitoring and research. A detailed case study is used to illustrate each of these themes. p.rp.se:This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of load-velocity(L-V)relationship.variables obtained through the 2-p.int method using different load combinations and velocity ***:Twenty men p.rformed 2 identical sessions consisting of 2 countermovement jump. against 4 external loads(20 kg,40 kg,60 kg,and80 kg)and a heavy squat against a load linked to a mean velocity(MV)of 0.55 m/s(load_(0.55)).The L-V relationship.variables(load-axis intercep.(L_(0)),velocity-axis intercep.(v_(0)),and area under the L-V relationship.line(A_(line)))were obtained using 3 velocity variables(MV,mean p.op.lsive velocity(Mp.),and p.ak velocity)by the multip.e-p.int method including(20-40-60-80-load_(0.55))and excluding(20-40-60-80)the heavy squat,as well as from their resp.ctive 2-p.int methods(20-load_(0.55)and 20-80).Results:The L-V relationship.variables were obtained with an accep.able reliability(coefncient of variation(CV)≤7.30%;intra-class correlation coefficient>0.63).The reliability of L_(0)and v_(0)was comp.rable for both methods(CV_(ratio)(calculated as higher value/lower value):1.11-1.12),but the multip.e-p.int method p.ovided Al_(ine)with a greater reliability(CV_(ratio)=1.26).The use of a heavy squat p.ovided the L-V relationship.variables with a comp.rable or higher reliability than the use of a heavy countermovement jump.load(CV_(ratio):1.06-1.19).The p.ak velocity p.ovided the load-velocity relationship.variables with the greatest reliability(CV_(ratio):1.15-1.86)followed by the MV(CV_(ratio):1.07-1.18),and finally the *** 2-p.int methods only revealed an accep.able validity for the MV and Mp.(effect size≤0.19;p.arson s p.oduct-moment correlation coefficient≥0.96;Lin's concordance correlation coefficient≥0.94).Conclusion:The 2-p.int method obtained from a heavy squat load and MV or Mp. is a quick,safe,and reliable p.ocedure to evaluate the lower-body maximal neuromuscular cap.cities through the L-V relationship.

The Jamaica Bay ecosystem is a dichotomy. It encomp.sses more than 12,000 acres of coastal estuarine marshes and an ecological diversity rivaling any coastal environment in the world. It is considerably altered, and is affected by a variety of ecological insults directly related to the fact that more than 14 million p.op.e live in its vicinity. Environmental p.otection institutions resp.nded to the challenge of p.otecting the bay, surrounding wetlands and recreational benefits by addressing the increasing load of contaminants into the ecosystem. Billions of dollars have been sp.nt during the p.st five decades on restoration attemp.s, including up.rading wastewater treatment p.antsand the closure of three major sanitary landfills. Even with the curtailment of untreated wastewater release and ending p.riodic dredging and filling p.ograms, all activities that are necessary p.ocesses in maintaining an urban harbor, the Jamaica Bay ecosystem has reached a p.int where many believe it to be unrecoverable, requiring massive infusions of restoration dollars. This categorization has been p.rp.tuated based on questionable data （the ＂myths＂） that, when investigated in rigorous scientific detail, p.ove to be unsubstantiated. In this p.p.r, the origin of these myths and the scientific investigation that disp.l them are discussed.

BACKGROUND Hep.tic artery stenosis is a comp.ication of orthotop.c liver transp.ant occurring in 3.1%-7.4%of p.tients that can result in graft failure and need for *** therap. with angiop.asty and stenting has been used with a high degree of technical success and good clinical outcomes,but tortuous hep.tic arteries p.esent a unique challenge for *** stents for this ap.lication should be maneuverable and conformable while also exerting adequate radial force to maintain a p.tent *** SUMMARY Herein we rep.rt our exp.rience with a neurovascular Wingsp.n stent system in a challenging case of recurrent hep.tic artery stenosis and discuss the literature of stenting in tortuous transp.ant hep.tic *** Wingsp.n neurovascular stent is self-exp.nding,has good conformability,and adequate radial resistance and as such it could be added to the armamentarium of interventionalists in the setting of a tortuous and stenotic transp.ant hep.tic artery.

Wild-typ. p.tato (Solanum tuberosum L.) p.ants and their transformants harboring agrobacterial rolB or rolC genes under control of the p.tatin class I p.omoter were cultured in vitro. These p.ants were used as a source of single-node stem cuttings. The structure of native starch in tubers formed on cuttings was determined using methods of X-ray scattering and differential scanning microcalorimetry (DSC). It was found that in starch from tubers of rolB p.ants the melting temp.rature of crystalline lamella was lower and their thickness was less than that in wild-typ. p.tato. In tubers of rolC p.ants starch differed from starch in wild-typ. p.ants by a higher melting temp.rature, reduced melting enthalp., and a greater thickness of crystalline lamellae. The melting of starch from tubers of rolC p.ants p.oceeded as the melting of two indep.ndent crystalline structures with melting temp.ratures of 338.0°K and 342.8°K. Overall data show that starches of different structure can be obtained by using transgenic ap.roach.

It is known that rock anisotrop. can significantly influence the p.ase and energy velocities of an elastic wave,as well as its reflection/transmission(R/T)*** a result,it can distort the velocity analysis of seismic-reflection *** this work we p.esent a velocity analysis for seismic-reflection data based on the available anisotrop.c rock *** analyzed the created errors on time-dep.h relation of the seismic-reflection data in neglecting rock anisotrop. and/or neglecting the difference between energy velocity and p.ase velocity,including the case of wide-angle *** calculated results show that the effect of rock anisotrop. on time-dep.h relation of seismic-reflection data is dep.ndent not only on the values of anisotrop.c p.rameters,but also on the sp.ce arrangement of both source and *** all studied cases(weak,moderate or strong anisotrop.),we found that the effect of rock anisotrop. on time-dep.h relation could not be ***,for the case of weak anisotrop.,the energy velocity may be rep.aceable by the p.ase velocity to obtain a very good ap.roximation on time-dep.h ***,the seismic-reflection data p.ocessing algorithm for numerical comp.tations can be simp.ified.

The increasing p.p.lation in older age will lead to greater numbers of them p.esenting with acute coronary syndromes （ACS）. This has imp.ications on global healthcare resources and necessitates better management and selection for evidenced-based therap.es. The elderly are a high risk group.with more significant treatment benefits than younger ACS. Nevertheless, age related inequalities in ACS care are recognised and p.rsist. This discrep.ncy in care, to some extent, is exp.ained by the higher frequency of atyp.cal and delayed p.esentations in the elderly, and less diagnostic electrocardiograms at p.esentation, p.tentiating a delay in ACS diagnosis. Under estimation of mortality risk in the elderly due to limited consideration for p.ysiological tiailty, co-morbidity, cognitive/p.ychological imp.irment and p.ysical disability, less inp.t by cardiology sp.cialists and lack of randomised, controlled trials data to guide management in the elderly may further confound the inequality of care. While these inequalities exist, there remains a substantial op.ortunity to imp.ove age related ACS outcomes. The selection of elderly p.tients for sp.cific therap.es and medication regimens are unanswered. There is a growing need for randomised, controlled trial data to be more rep.esentative of the p.p.lation and enroll those of advanced age with co-morbidity. A lack of rep.rting of adverse events, such as renal imp.irment p.st coronary angiograp.y, in the elderly further limit risk benefit decisions. Substantial imp.ovements in care of elderly ACS p.tients are required and should be advocated. Ultimately, these imp.ovements are likely to lead to better outcomes p.st ACS. However, the imp.ovement in outcome is not infinite and will be limited by non-modifiable factors of age-related risk.
