Alemtuzumab induction therapy in highly sensitized kidney transplant recipients

Background Immunosuppression for immunologically high-risk kidney transplant patients usually involves antithymocyte globulin induction with triple drug maintenance therapy. Alemtuzumab, a humanized anti-CD52 antibody, was expected to be a promising induction therapy agent for kidney transplantation. However, currently no consensus is available about its efficacy and safety. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alemtuzumab as immune induction therapy in highly sensitized kidney transplant *** In this prospective, open-label, randomized, controlled trial, we enrolled 23 highly immunological risk patients （panel reactive antibody 〉20%）. They were divided into two groups： alemtuzumab group （trial group） and anti-thymocyte globulin （ATG） group （control group）. Patients in the alemtuzumab group received intravenous alemtuzumab （15 mg） as a single dose before reperfusion. At the 24th hour post-operation, another dosage of alemtuzumab （15 mg） was given. The control group received a bolus of rabbit ATG （9 mg/kg）, which was given 2 hours before kidney transplantation and lasted until the removal of vascular clamps when the anastomoses were completed. Maintenance immunosuppression in both groups comprised standard triple therapy consisting of tacrolimus, prednisone, and mycophenolate mofetil （MMF）. Acute rejection （AR） and infection episodes were recorded, and kidney function was monitored during a 2-year follow-up. X2 test, ttest and Kaplan-Meier analysis were performed with SPSS17.0 *** Median follow-up was 338 days. In both the alemtuzumab group and ATG group, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen values in surviving recipients were similar （P 〉0.05）. White blood cell counts were significantly reduced in the alemtuzumab group for the most time points up to 6 months （P 〈0.05）. One patient receiving alemtuzumab died for acute myocardial infarction at the 65th day post-operation. Two ATG patients died for severe pulmonary infection

Effect of bath composition （[Co^2＋]/[-Pt^Ⅳ ] and [-WO4^2- ], [cit^-]） and pH on the magnetic properties of electrodeposited Co-Pt-W thin films has been investigated. Electrodeposited Co-Pt-W thin films exhibited strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy when the ratio of [-Co^2＋ ] to [-Pt^Ⅳ ] was 10 ; cathode current efficiency and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy showed little variations when [WO4^2- ] was lower than 0. 1 mol/L, but perpendicular magnetic anisotropy had strengthened when [WO4^2-] was over 0. 1 mol/L, which could be explained by the fact that the hydrogen evolution could produce pores as magnetic domain pinnings; citrate as complexing reagent can promote the polarization of [Co^2＋] and [Pt^Ⅳ]. As a result, the equilibrium electrode potentials of cobalt and platinum moved to negative direction, which led to the co-deposition of Co, Pt, and W. It was also found out that the as-deposited Co- Pt-W hard magnetic thin films were very homogeneous, smooth, and had the maximum coercivity for the bath pH 8. 5 and the concentration of citrate 0. 26 mol/L.

Lead-free ferroelectric ceramics,0.67Bi_(1-x)Eu_(x)FeO_(3)-0.33BaTiO_(3)(BF-BT-xEu,x=0-0.02),were prepared via a solid-state reaction,The effect of Eu^(3+) doping on the microstructure,dielectric properties,ferroelectric properties,and electric-field-induced strain was *** X-ray diffraction(XRD) results indicate the presence of a mixed phase of tetragonal and rhombohedral at the morphotropic phase boundary(MPB).Doping with an appropriate amount of Eu^(3+) reduces the Fe^(3+) content and decreases the leakage current in the binary system.A converse piezoelectric coefficient(d_(33)*) of 392 pm/V is obtained at BF-BT-0.003Eu under an electric field of 60 kV/cm at room temperature,which has a Curie temperature(T_(C)) of 414℃,The unipolar strain and d_(33)* of BF-BT-0.003Eu ceramics increase to 0.438%and 730 pm/V at 125℃ The field-induced strain response of the BF-BT-0.003Eu ceramics is greater than that of 0.67BF-0.33BT,mainly due to its optimal grain size,reduction of leakage current,and coexistence of ferroelectric-relaxation phases,BF-BT-0.003Eu ceramic is a lead-free candidate for high-temperature actuator applications.

In-situ integration of multiple materials with well-defined interfaces as heterostructures is of great interest due to their unique properties and potential for new device *** of its polymorphism and diverse bonding geometries,borophene is a promising candidate for two-dimensional heterostructures,but suitable synthesis conditions have limited its potential *** this end,we demonstrate the vertical borophene and graphene heterostructures which form by epitaxial growth of borophene onto multilayer graphene on Cu substrates via chemical vapor deposition,where hydrogen and NaBH_(4) are respectively used as the carrier gas and the boron *** lattice structure of the as-synthesized borophene well coincides with the predictedα′-boron *** borophene-based photodetector shows an excellent broadband photoresponse from the ultraviolet(255 nm)to the infrared(940 nm)wavelengths,with enhanced responsivity compared to pristine borophene or graphene *** work informs emerging efforts to integrate borophene into nanoelectronic applications for both fundamental investigations and technological applications.

As an open network architecture,Wireless Computing PowerNetworks(WCPN)pose newchallenges for achieving efficient and secure resource management in networks,because of issues such as insecure communication channels and untrusted device ***,as a shared,immutable distributed ledger,provides a secure resource management solution for ***,integrating blockchain into WCPN faces challenges like device heterogeneity,monitoring communication states,and dynamic network *** Digital Twins(DT)can accurately maintain digital models of physical entities through real-time data updates and self-learning,enabling continuous optimization of WCPN,improving synchronization performance,ensuring real-time accuracy,and supporting smooth operation of WCPN *** this paper,we propose a DT for blockchain-empowered WCPN architecture that guarantees real-time data transmission between physical entities and digital *** adopt an enumeration-based optimal placement algorithm(EOPA)and an improved simulated annealing-based near-optimal placement algorithm(ISAPA)to achieve minimum average DT synchronization latency under the constraint of DT *** results show that the proposed solution in this paper outperforms benchmarks in terms of average synchronization latency.

An effective and reliable prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of a tool is important to a metal forming process because it can significantly reduce unexpected maintenance,avoid machine shutdowns and increase system *** study proposes a new data-driven approach to the RUL prediction for metal forming processes under multiple contact sliding *** data-driven approach took advantage of bidirectional long short-term memory(BLSTM)and convolutional neural networks(CNN).A pre-trained lightweight CNN-based network,WearNet,was re-trained to classify the wear states of workpiece surfaces with a high accuracy,then the classification results were passed into a BLSTM-based regression model as inputs for RUL *** experimental results demonstrated that this approach was able to predict the RUL values with a small error(below 5%)and a low root mean square error(RMSE)(around 1.5),which was more superior and robust than the other state-of-the-art methods.

Current ecosystem models used to simulate global terrestrial carbon balance generally suggest that terrestrial landscapes are stable and mature,but terrestrial net primary productivity(NPP)data estimated without accounting for disturbances in species composition,environment,structure,and ecological characteristics will reduce the accuracy of the global carbon ***,the steady-state assumption and neglect of elevation-related changes in forest NPP is a *** Qilian Mountains are located in continental climate zone,and vegetation is highly sensitive to climate *** quantified aboveground biomass(AGB)and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)sequences at three elevations using field-collected tree rings of Picea crassifolia in Qilian Mountains of Northwest *** results showed that(1)There were significant differences between AGB and ANPP at the three elevations,and the growth rate of AGB was the highest at the low elevation(55.99 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1)).(2)There are differences in the response relationship between the ANPP and climate factors at the three elevations,and drought stress is the main climate signal affecting the change of ANPP.(3)Under the future climate scenario,drought stress intensifies,and the predicted decline trend of ANPP at the three elevations from mid-century to the end of this century is–0.025 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1),respectively;–0.022 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1);At–0.246 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1),the level of forest productivity was significantly *** results reveal the elevation gradient differences in forest productivity levels and provide key information for studying the carbon sink potential of boreal forests.

Improving flight performance of UAVs by ice shape modulation

Aircraft icing poses a great threat to flight *** response to the characteristics of high-power consumption,large volume,and heavy weight of traditional anti-/de-icing technologies,the concept of ice shape modulation is proposed,which is called ice tolerant ***,the flight performance of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)was compared in three states:no ice,full ice,and modulated ice through flight *** was found that ice shape modulation has a significant improvement effect on the aerodynamic performance of aircraft under icing *** the three modulated ice shape conditions in this experiment,the lift coefficient of the UAV under different ice shape modulation conditions increased by 18%–33%,and the stalling angle was delayed by 3°-5°.Subsequently,the pressure distribution,streamlines in the flow field,and detached vortex distribution of the UAV model in these three states were obtained through numerical simulation,to study the mechanism of ice shape modulation on the aerodynamic performance of *** simulation found that the reason for the improvement of the wings effect after ice shape modulation is that the modulated area forms a leading-edge protrusion structure similar to a vortex *** structure prolongs the mixed flow region on the wings surface and reduces the trend of flow separation,which plays a role in increasing lift and reducing drag for UAVs under icing ***,a reverse reachable set that can be used for unexpected state recovery is used as the definition of flight safety boundaries,and an aircraft dynamics model is established to obtain flight safety boundaries for different *** has found that the flight safety boundary of the UAV in a no ice state is greater than that in a modulated ice state,and the safety boundary in a modulated ice state is greater than that in a full ice *** with the full ice state,the flight safety boundary after modulation has expanded by 27.0%.The sch
