Review and comparison of methods and benchmarks for automatic modal identification based on stabilization diagram

Automatic modal identification via automatically interpreting the stabilization diagram provides key technique in bridge structural health monitoring.This paper reviews the progress in the area of automatic modal identification based on interpreting the stabilization diagram.The whole identification process is divided into four steps from establishing the stabilization diagram to removing the outliers in the identification results.The criteria and algorithms used in each step in the existing studies are carefully summarized and classified.Comparisons between typical methods in cleaning and interpreting the stabilization diagram are also conducted.Real structure benchmarks used in the existing studies to validate the proposed automatic modal identification methods are also summarized.Based on the review and comparison,the specific ratio method for cleaning the stabilization diagram,the hierarchical clustering method for interpreting the stabilization diagram and the adjusted boxplot for removing the outliers in the identification results are the most suitable methods for each step.The key point of automatic modal identification based on interpreting the stabilization diagram has also discussed,and it is recommended to pay more attention to cleaning the stabilization diagram.Future study about automatic modal identification under situation with very few sensors deployed should be more concerned.This review aims to help researchers and practitioners in implementing existing automatic modal identification algorithms effectively and developing more suitable and practical methods for civil engineering structures in the future.

An Iron-Based High-Entropy Alloy with Highly Efficient Degradation for p-Nitrophenol

High-entropy alloys(heAs)have attracted widespread attention due to their excellent mechanical properties.However,their functional properties arising from the supersaturated solid solution state can be improved.Advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)are considered to be an effective method for decomposing organic pollutants,and heAs are proposed as effective candidates for AOP catalysts.Currently,several heAs used for organic pollutant degradation are prepared through mechanical alloying.In this work,FeAlCoNi and FeAlCoNiB Fenton-like catalysts were prepared by single roll melt spinning and subsequent ball milling techniques.We found that the FeAlCoNiB heA exhibits highly efficient degradation for p-nitrophenol(p-NP).The degradation efficiency of FeAlCoNiB is 120 times higher than that of FeAlCoNi,which confirms that boron functions effectively during the degradation process.FeAlCoNiB has a better degradation efficiency than pure iron powder and a degradation efficiency comparable to that of the amorphous Fe_(78)Si_(11)B_(11) alloy.Additionally,the degradation efficiency of FeAlCoNiB_(X) increases(k values from 0.13 to 0.55 min^(−1))when the boron content increases from an X value of 0.25 to 1.25.We speculate that Fe_(2)B favors the degradation process and promotes zero-valent iron to decompose organic pollutants through a galvanic cell effect.Possible p-NP degradation pathways are proposed after LC–MS analysis.This study provides a new series of heA Fenton-like catalysts,which have the potential to be prepared into bulk devices for industrial applications.

Event-triggered tracking control for a class of nonholonomic systems in chained form

In this study, the event-triggered asymptotic tracking control problem is considered for a class of nonholonomic systems in chained form for the time-varying reference input. First, to eliminate the ripple phenomenon caused by the imprecise compensation of the time-varying reference input, a novel time-varying event-triggered piecewise continuous control law and a triggering mechanism with a time-varying triggering function are developed. Second, an explicit integral input-to-state stable Lyapunov function is constructed for the time-varying closed-loop system regarding the sampling error as the external input. The origin of the closed-loop system is shown to be uniformly globally asymptotically stable for any global exponential decaying threshold signals, which in turn rules out the Zeno behavior. Moreover, infinitely fast sampling can be avoided by appropriately tuning the exponential convergence rate of the threshold signal. A numerical simulation example is provided to illustrate the proposed control approach.

Interfacial Engineering of Polymer Blend with Janus Particle as Compatibilizer

Mixing two or more polymers to produce the“polymer alloy”is one of the most versatile and economical strategies for developing new polymeric materials.The compatibility between polymer components largely determines the comprehensive performance of polymer blend.More recently,a type of unique surface partitioned materials,Janus particles,has been proposed to act as a novel interfacial compatibilizer for polymer blends.Such Janus particles integrates the amphipathicity of diblock copolymer and interfacial stabilization of nanoparticles,displaying a significant superiority in comparison with molecular compatibilizers for a wide range of polymer blends.In this review,we mainly focus on the compatibilizing effects of Janus nanofillers of various morphologies,including spherical,snowman-like,and two-dimensional nanosheets,on polymer blends.We shed light on the impacts of compatibilization of Janus particles on phase morphologies,mechanical properties,and functionalities of polymer blends.This review could provide a guidance for designing an effective Janus particle compatibilizer to develop high-performance polymer blends.

CORMAND2--针对工业机器人的欺骗攻击

Industrial robots are becoming increasingly vulnerable to cyber incidents and attacks,particularly with the dawn of the Industrial Internet-of-Things(lloT).To gain a comprehensive understanding of these cyber risks,vulnerabilities of industrial robots were analyzed empirically,using more than three million communication packets collected with testbeds of two ABB IRB120 robots and five other robots from var-ious original equipment manufacturers(OEMs).This analysis,guided by the confidentiality-integrity-availability(CIA)triad,uncovers robot vulnerabilities in threedimensions:confidentiality,integrity,and availability.These vulnerabilities were used to design Covering Robot Manipulation via Data Deception(CORMAND2),an automated cyber-physical attack against industrial robots.CORMAND2 manipulates robot operation while deceiving the SupervisoryControl and Data Acquisition(SCADA)system that the robot is operating normally by modifying the robot's movement data and data deception.CORMAND2 and its capability of degrading the manufacturing was validated experimentally using the aforementioned seven robots from six different OEMs.CORMAND2 unveils the limitations of existing anomaly detection systems,more specifically the assumption of the authenticity of SCADA-received movement data,to which we propose mitigations for.

Influence of the cage on the migration and distribution of lubricating oil inside a ball bearing

The migration and distribution of lubricant oil in a rolling bearing strongly affect the elastohydrodynamic lubrication performance between the balls and rings.However,oil re-lubrication is highly dependent on the bearing design,which is different from the ball-on-disc model.This study directly observed the distribution of the lubricant film in a custom-made model-bearing rig,with an outer ring replaced by a glass ring to allow full optical access.The influence of the cage type and surface properties were presented.The physical origin of the re-lubrication mechanism,including capillary flow and mechanical redistribution,was discussed.

Research on the Trajectory Tracking Control of a 6-DOF Manipulator Based on Fully-Actuated System Models

The multi-degree of freedom(muti-DOF)manipulator system is a complex control system with the strong coupling feature and high nonlinearity.In this paper,trajectory tracking control of a six-degree of freedom(6-DOF)manipulator based on fully-actuated system models and a direct parametric method is investigated.The fully-actuated system model of the 6-DOF manipulator is established by using the Denavit Hartenberg(DH)notation and Euler-Lagrange dynamics.A disturbance observer is constructed to solve the nonlinear uncertainties such as unmodeled dynamics and external disturbances.Then,a controller is designed using the direct parametric method to make the 6-DOF manipulator reach the desired position with high accuracy.After that,a switching control strategy is developed to suppress the peak value belonging to the controller.Simulation results reveal the effect of the proposed control approach.

High-Order Two-Scale Asymptotic Paradigm for the Elastodynamic Homogenization of Periodic Composites

The classical two-scale asymptotic paradigm provides macroscopic and microscopic analyses for the elastodynamic homogenization of periodic composites based on the spatial or/and temporal variable,which offers an approximate framework for the asymptotic homogenization analysis of the motion equation.However,in this framework,the growing complexity of the homogenization formulation gradually becomes an obstacle as the asymptotic order increases.In such a context,a compact,fast,and accurate asymptotic paradigm is developed.This work reviews the high-order spatial two-scale asymptotic paradigm with the effective displacement field representation and optimizes the implementation by symmetrizing the tensor to be determined.Remarkably,the modified implementation gets rid of the excessive memory consumption required for computing the high-order tensor,which is demonstrated by representative one-and two-dimensional cases.The numerical results show that(1)the contrast of the material parameters between media in composites directly affects the convergence rate of the asymptotic results for the homogenization of periodic composites,(2)the convergence error of the asymptotic results mainly comes from the truncation error of the modified asymptotic homogenized motion equation,and(3)the excessive norm of the normalized wavenumber vector in the two-dimensional inclusion case may lead to a non-convergence of the asymptotic results.
