5a-reductase inhibitors(5-ARI)are widely employed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.It has been noted that 5-ARI exhibit the potential to attenuate the risk of prostate cancer,but consistent agreement has not been achieved.Moreover,the effect of 5-ARI on cancer-specific mortality and progression of prostate cancer remains unclear.Therefore,the goal of the current meta-analysis was to elucidate the impact of 5-ARI on the incidence and progression of prostate cancer.We searched for all studies assessing the effect of 5-ARI on risk of prostate cancer in PubMed,Embase,Medline,and Cochrane Library databases.Pooled relative risk(RR)and corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were accepted to evaluate the association between 5-ARI and the risk of prostate cancer.Synthetic results implied that subjects who accepted 5-ARI compared with the placebo group experienced a distinctly weakened overall incidence of prostate cancer(RR=0.74;95%C l:0.66-0.82;P7;RR=1.19;95%Cl:0.98-1.43;P=0.069).The results also showed that 5-ARI treatment did not significantly alter prostate cancer-specific mortality(RR=1.0;95%C l:0.95-1.05;P=0.916).In addition,it was worth noting that 5-ARI treatment acted in a protective role that presented a dramatic benefit to delay the progression of low-risk tumors(RR=0.58;95%C l:0.43-0.78;P<0.001).

Deciding the penalty of a law case has always been a complex process, which may involve with much coordination. Despite the judicial study based on the rules and conditions, artificial intelligence and machine learning has rarely been used to study the problem of penalty inferring, leaving the large amount of law cases as well as various factors among them untouched. This paper aims to incorporate the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence methods to exploit to what extent this problem can be alleviated. We first analyze 145 000 law cases and observe that there are two sorts of labels, temporal labels and spatial labels, which have unique characteristics. Temporal labels and spatial labels tend to converge towards the final penalty, on condition that the cases are of the same category. In light of this, we propose a latent-class probabilistic generative model, namely Penalty Topic Model （PTM）, to infer the topic of law cases, and the temporal and spatial patterns of topics embedded in the case judgment. Then, the learnt knowledge is utilized to automatically cluster all cases accordingly in a unified way. We conduct extensive experiments to evaluate the performance of the proposed PTM on a real large-scale dataset of law cases. The experimental results show the superiority of our proposed PTM.

Certain carbohydrate antigens of malignantly trans- formed cells have been identified as markers for the onset of can- cer and have become targets for the development of anticancer vaccine therapies. For tumor antigens, many carbohydrate antigens belong to T-independent （TI） antigens. Carbohydrate conjugated to protein carriers can switch TI antigen to a T-dependent （TD） anti- gen. Attempts to add an innate immune response element （such as Toll-like receptor ligand） to carbohydrate TI-antigens have also been studied. Glycosylation inhibitors or small interfering RNA have also been used for antitumor and/or antiviral agents. This review aims at describing the vast spectrum of tumor carbohydrate antigens and strategies to develop cancer vaccines and drugs.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are generated by head-to-tail splicing and are ubiquitously expressed in all multicellular organisms. Their important biological functions are increasingly recognized. Cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury-induced brain microvascular endothelial cell dysfunction is an initial stage of blood-brain barrier disruption. The expression profile and potential function of circRNAs in brain microvascular endothelial cells is unknown. Rat brain microvascular endothelial cells were extracted and cultured in glucose-free medium for 4 hours with 5% CO2 and 95% N2, and the medium was then replaced with complete growth medium for 6 hours. The RNA in these cells was then extracted. The circRNA was identified by Find_circ and CIRI2 software. Functional and pathway enrichment analysis of genes that were common to differentially expressed mRNAs and circRNA host genes was performed by the Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery Functional Annotation Tool. Miranda software was used to predict microRNAs that were potentially sponged by circRNAs. Furthermore, cytoscape depicted the circR-NA-microRNA interaction network. The results showed that there were 1288 circRNAs in normal and oxygen-glucose deprived/recovered primary brain microvascular endothelial cells. There are 211 upregulated and 326 downregulated differentially expressed circRNAs. The host genes of these differentially expressed circRNAs overlapped with those of differentially expressed mRNAs. The shared genes were further studied by functional enrichment analyses, which revealed that circRNAs may contribute to calcium ion function and the cyclic guanosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (CAMP) dependent protein kinase (PKα) signaling pathway. Next, quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction assays were performed to detect circRNA levels transcribed from the overlapping host genes. There is no effective drug to treat Alzheimer＇s disease （AD）, a neurodegenerative disease affecting an estimated 30 million people around the world. Strongly supported by preclinical and clinical studies, amyloid-beta （Aβ） may be a target for developing drugs against AD. Meanwhile, the fact that localized neuronal death/loss and synaptic impairment occur in AD should also be considered. Neuronal regeneration, which does not occur normally in the mammalian central nervous system, can be promoted by neurotrophic factors （NTFs）. Evidence from clinical trials has shown that both Aβ clearance and NTFs are potentially effective in treating AD, thus a new approach combining Aβ clearance and administration of NTFs may be an effective therapeutic strategy.

A new dynamic pushback control method for reducing fuel-burn costs: Using predicted taxi-out time

Long departure-taxi-out time leads to significant airport surface congestion, fuel-burn costs, and excessive emissions of greenhouse gases. To reduce these undesirable effects, a Predicted taxi-out time-based Dynamic Pushback Control(PDPC) method is proposed. The implementation of this method requires two steps: first, the taxi-out times for aircraft are predicted by the leastsquares support-vector regression approach of which the parameters are optimized by an introduced improved Firefly algorithm. Then, a dynamic pushback control model equipped with a linear gate-hold penalty function is built, along with a proposed iterative taxiway queue-threshold optimization algorithm for solving the model. A case study with data obtained from Beijing International airport(PEK) is presented. The taxi-out time prediction model achieves predictive accuracy within 3 min and 5 min by 84.71% and 95.66%, respectively. The results of the proposed pushback method show that total operation cost and fuel-burn cost achieve a 14.0% and 21.1%reduction, respectively, as compared to the traditional K-control policy.(3) From the perspective of implementation, using PDPC policy can significantly reduce the queue length in taxiway and taxi-out time. The total operation cost and fuel-burn cost can be curtailed by 37.2% and 52.1%,respectively, as compared to the non-enforcement of any pushback control mechanism. These results show that the proposed pushback control model can reduce fuel-burn costs and airport surface congestion effectively.

B cells exert multiple effector functions, and dysfunctions of B cells often lead to initiation and progression of diseases, including autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Therefore, B cell intervention may be an effective strategy to treat diseases involving B cells. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-Cas9 gene editing system has been widely used for DNA deletion, insertion, and replacement. Nanocarriers have been developed as relatively mature systems and may be applied to deliver the CRISPR-Cas9 system to B cells in vivo. In this study, we created a library of nanoparticles (NPs) with different polyethylene glycol densities and zeta potentials and screened an optimal NP for in vivo B cell targeting. The selected NP could deliver the CRISPR-Cas9 system to B cells and induce Cas9 expression inside the cell environment. Injection of the NP encapsulated with Cas9/gB220 (NPCas9/gB220) into mice could disrupt B220 expression in B cells, suggestive of its applications to intervene the expression of the target molecule in B cells. Moreover, the treatment with NPCas9/gBAFFR could decrease the number of B cells and exert therapeutic effect in rheumatoid arthritis, as B-cell activating factor receptor (BAFFR) is vital for the survival and functions of B cells. In conclusion, we developed a carrier for the delivery of the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing system for B cell intervention that could be used for the treatment of diseases related to B cell dysfunctions.

Selenium(Se)is an essential trace element that has a large number of biological functions for broilers.However,the absorption kinetics of Se from sodium selenite in the small intestine of broilers remains unclear.Therefore,two experiments were conducted with 28-d-old commercial male broilers to study the kinetics of Se absorption in ligated small intestinal segments.In experiment 1,the Se absorption in duodenal,jejunal,and ileal segments at different post-perfusion time points(0,20,40,60,80,100 and 120 min)were compared.In experiment 2,a kinetic study of Se absorption was conducted with the duodenal,jejunal,and ileal loops perfused with solutions containing 0,0.0375,0.075,0.15,0.30,or 0.60μg mL^-1 of Se as sodium selenite,and Se contents in perfusates were determined at 100 min after perfusion.The results from experiment 1 showed that the Se absorption increased in an asymptotic response(Pmin in all the small intestinal segments,but increased linearly(Pmin after perfusion in duodenal and ileal segments,while more than 96.0%of the maximum Se absorption occurred at 100 min after perfusion in each small intestinal segment.In experiment 2,there was no difference(P>0.05)in the Se absorption rate among different ligated small intestinal segments perfused with solutions containing 0.0375–0.15μg mL^-1 of Se,however,the Se absorption rate was higher(Pmin^-1 cm^-1;whereas the Se absorptions were a non-saturated diffusion process in the jejunum and ileum,and the diffusive constants were 2107 and 1777 cm2 min^-1,respectively.The results from the present study indicate that the jejunum is the main Se absorption site,and the Se absorption is a saturated carrier-mediated process in the du
