This paper presents a distributed scheme with limited communications, aiming to achieve cooperative motion control for multiple omnidirectional mobile manipulators(MOMMs).The proposed scheme extends the existing single-agent motion control to cater to scenarios involving the cooperative operation of MOMMs. Specifically, squeeze-free cooperative load transportation is achieved for the end-effectors of MOMMs by incorporating cooperative repetitive motion planning(CRMP), while guiding each individual to desired poses. Then, the distributed scheme is formulated as a time-varying quadratic programming(QP) and solved online utilizing a noise-tolerant zeroing neural network(NTZNN). Theoretical analysis shows that the NTZNN model converges globally to the optimal solution of QP in the presence of noise. Finally, the effectiveness of the control design is demonstrated by numerical simulations and physical platform experiments.

Driven by the large volume demands of data in transmission systems,the number of spatial modes supported by mode-division multiplexing(MDM)systems is being increased to take full advantage of the parallelism of the signals in different spatial modes.As a key element for photonic integrated circuits,the multimode waveguide optical switch(MWOS)is playing an important role for data exchange and signal switching.However,the function of the traditional MWOS is simple,which could only implement the mode-insensitive or mode-selective switching function;it is also difficult to scale to accommodate more spatial modes because of the limitation of the device structure.Therefore,it is still challenging to realize a multifunctional and scalable MWOS that could support multiple modes with low power consumption and high flexibility.Here,we propose and experimentally demonstrate a multifunctional MWOS based on asymmetric Y-junctions and multimode interference(MMI)couplers fabricated on a polymer waveguide platform.Both mode-insensitive and mode-selective switching functions can be achieved via selectively heating different electrode heaters.The fabricated device with the total length of∼0.8 cmshows an insertion loss of less than 12.1 dB,and an extinction ratio of larger than 8.4 dB with a power consumption of∼32 mW for both mode-insensitive and mode-selective switching functions,at 1550 nm wavelength.The proposed MWOS can also be scaled to accommodate more spatial modes flexibly and easily,which can serve as an important building block for MDM systems.

Roots are fundamental for plants to adapt to variable environmental conditions.The development of a robust root system is orchestrated by numerous genetic determinants and,among them,the MADS-box gene ANR1 has garnered substantial attention.Prior research has demonstrated that,in chrysanthemum,CmANR1positively regulates root system development.Nevertheless,the upstream regulators involved in the CmANR1-mediated regulation of root development remain unidentified.In this study,we successfully identified bric-a-brac,tramtrack and broad(BTB)and transcription adapter putative zinc finger(TAZ)domain protein CmBT1 as the interacting partner of CmANR1 through a yeasttwo-hybrid(Y2H)screening library.Furthermore,we validated this physical interaction through bimolecular fluorescence complementation and pull-down assays.Functional assays revealed that CmBT1 exerted a negative influence on root development in chrysanthemum.In both in vitro and in vivo assays,it was evident that CmBT1mediated the ubiquitination of CmANR1 through the ubiquitin/26S proteasome pathway.This ubiquitination subsequently led to the degradation of the CmANR1 protein and a reduction in the transcription of CmANR1-targeted gene CmPIN2,which was crucial for root development in chrysanthemum.Genetic analysis suggested that CmBT1 modulated root development,at least in part,by regulating the level of CmANR1 protein.Collectively,these findings shed new light on the regulatory role of CmBT1 in degrading CmANR1 through ubiquitination,thereby repressing the expression of its targeted gene and inhibiting root development in chrysanthemum.

Organisms produce high levels of reactive oxygen species(ROS)to kill pathogens or act as signaling molecules to induce immune responses;however,excessive ROS can result in cell death.To maintain ROS balance and cell survival,mitophagy selectively eliminates damaged mitochondria via mitophagy receptors in vertebrates.In marine invertebrates,however,mitophagy and its functions remain largely unknown.In the current study,Vibrio splendidus infection damaged mitochondrial morphology in coelomocytes and reduced mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨm)and mitophagosome formation.The colocalization of mitochondria and lysosomes further confirmed that lipopolysaccharide(LPS)treatment increased mitophagy flux.To explore the regulatory mechanism of mitophagy,we cloned Bcl2/adenovirus E1 B 19 kDa protein-interacting protein 3(BNIP3),a common mitophagy receptor,from sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus(Aj BNIP3)and confirmed that Aj BNIP3 was significantly induced and accumulated in mitochondria after V.splendidus infection and LPS exposure.At the mitochondrial membrane,Aj BNIP3 interacts with microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3)on phagophore membranes to mediate mitophagy.After Aj BNIP3 interference,mitophagy flux decreased significantly.Furthermore,Aj BNIP3-mediated mitophagy was activated by ROS following the addition of exogenous hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2),ROS scavengers,and ROS inhibitors.Finally,inhibition of BNIP3-mediated mitophagy by Aj BNIP3 small interfering RNA(si RNA)or high concentrations of lactate increased apoptosis and decreased coelomocyte survival.These findings highlight the essential role of Aj BNIP3 in damaged mitochondrial degradation during mitophagy.This mitophagy activity is required for coelomocyte survival in A.japonicus against V.splendidus infection.

In this work, a novel time-stepping L1 scheme is developed for recovering an initial singularity of a time fractional diffusion model with a hidden-memory variable-order Caputo’s fractional derivative. We derive an L1 formula to approximate the variable-order Caputo’s derivative, which can obtain second-order accuracy.An error estimate is analyzed strictly. For completeness, a full discrete scheme is established combined with the standard second-order central difference quotient for the spatial discretization. Numerical experiments are provided to support our theoretical results.

Aqueous zinc-ion capacitors(ziCs)are considered as potential candidates for next generation electro-chemical energy storage devices due to their high safety and low cost.However,the existing aqueous ZiCs usually have the problems of zinc dendrite growth and unsatisfactory performance at low temper-ature.Herein,an erythritol(Eryt)additive with inhibition of zinc dendrites and anti-freezing capability was introduced into the ZnSO_(4) electrolyte.The experimental characterization and theoretical calculation confirm that the Eryt adsorbed on the surface of zinc anodes regulates the deposition orientation of Zn^(2+)and inhibits the formation of dendrites.It also reconstructs the solvation structure in the electrolyte to reduce water activity,enabling the electrolyte to have a lower freezing point for operation at low tem-perature.With the assistance of Eryt,the ZnZn symmetric cell exhibits a long cycle life of 2000 h,while the ZIC assembled with activated carbon(AC)cathode and zinc anode(ZnllAC)maintains a capacity retention of 98.2%after 30,000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g^(-1)(even after 10,000 cycles at-20°C,the capacity retention rate reached 94.8%.).This work provides a highly scalable,low-cost and effective strategy for the protection of the anodes of low-temperature aqueous ZiCs.

An improved algorithm for retrieving thin sea ice thickness in the Arctic Ocean from SMOS and SMAP L-band radiometer data

The aim of this study was to develop an improved thin sea ice thickness(SIT)retrieval algorithm in the Arctic Ocean from the Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity and Soil Moisture Active Passive L-band radiometer data.This SIT retrieval algorithm was trained using the simulated SIT from the cumulative freezing degree days model during the freeze-up period over five carefully selected regions in the Beaufort,Chukchi,East Siberian,Laptev and Kara seas and utilized the microwave polarization ratio(PR)at incidence angle of 40°.The improvements of the proposed retrieval algorithm include the correction for the sea ice concentration impact,reliable reference SIT data over different representative regions of the Arctic Ocean and the utilization of microwave polarization ratio that is independent of ice temperature.The relationship between the SIT and PR was found to be almost stable across the five selected regions.The SIT retrievals were then compared to other two existing algorithms(i.e.,UH_SIT from the University of Hamburg and UB_SIT from the University of Bremen)and validated against independent SIT data obtained from moored upward looking sonars(ULS)and airborne electromagnetic(EM)induction sensors.The results suggest that the proposed algorithm could achieve comparable accuracies to UH_SIT and UB_SIT with root mean square error(RMSE)being about 0.20 m when validating using ULS SIT data and outperformed the UH_SIT and UB_SIT with RMSE being about 0.21 m when validatng using EM SIT data.The proposed algorithm can be used for thin sea ice thickness(<1.0 m)estimation in the Arctic Ocean and requires less auxiliary data in the SIT retrieval procedure which makes its implementation more practical.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)ranks sixth globally in cancer incidence and third in mortality rates.Unfortunately,over 70% of HCC patients forego the opportunity for curative surgery or liver transplantation due to inadequate physical examinations,poor physical condition,and limited organ availability upon diagnosis.Clinical guidelines endorse transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)as the frontline treatment for intermediate to advanced-stage HCC.Cryoablation(CRA)is an emerging local ablative therapy increasingly used in HCC management.Recent studies suggest that combining CRA with TACE offers complementary and synergistic effects,potentially improving long-term survival rates.However,the superiority of combined TACE+CRA therapy over TACE alone for HCC lesions equal to or exceeding 5 cm requires further investigation.AIM To compare the efficacy and safety of TACE combined with CRA vs TACE alone in the treatment of HCC with a diameter of≥5 cm.METHODS PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang,and VIP databases were searched to retrieve all relevant studies on TACE and CRA up to July 2022.Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software.RESULTS After screening according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,6 articles were included,including 2 randomized controlled trials and 4 nonrandomized controlled trials,with a total of 575 patients included in the meta-analysis.The results showed that the objective response rate[odds ratio(OR)=2.56,95%confidence interval(CI):1.66-3.96,P<0.0001],disease control rate(OR=3.03,95%CI:1.88-4.89,P<0.00001),1-year survival rate(OR=3.79,95%CI:2.50-5.76,P<0.00001),2-year survival rate(OR=2.34,95%CI:1.43-3.85,P=0.0008),and 3-year survival rate(OR=3.34,95%CI:1.61-6.94,P=0.001)were all superior to those of the control group;the postoperative decrease in alpha-fetoprotein value(OR=295.53,95%CI:250.22-340.85,P<0.0001),the postoperative increase in CD4 value(OR=10.59,95%CI:8.78-12.40,P<0.00001),and the postoperative decrease in CD8 value(OR=6.47,95%CI:4.44-8.50,P<0.00001)were

Previous studies have shown that Vibrio splendidus infection causes mitochondrial damage in Apostichopus japonicus coelomocytes,leading to the production of excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)and irreversible apoptotic cell death.Emerging evidence suggests that mitochondrial autophagy(mitophagy)is the most effective method for eliminating damaged mitochondria and ROS,with choline dehydrogenase(CHDH)identified as a novel mitophagy receptor that can recognize non-ubiquitin damage signals and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3)in vertebrates.However,the functional role of CHDH in invertebrates is largely unknown.In this study,we observed a significant increase in the mRNA and protein expression levels of A.japonicus CHDH(AjCHDH)in response to V.splendidus infection and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)challenge,consistent with changes in mitophagy under the same conditions.Notably,AjCHDH was localized to the mitochondria rather than the cytosol following V.splendidus infection.Moreover,AjCHDH knockdown using si RNA transfection significantly reduced mitophagy levels,as observed through transmission electron microscopy and confocal microscopy.Further investigation into the molecular mechanisms underlying CHDH-regulated mitophagy showed that AjCHDH lacked an LC3-interacting region(LIR)for direct binding to LC3 but possessed a FB1 structural domain that binds to SQSTM1.The interaction between AjCHDH and SQSTM1 was further confirmed by immunoprecipitation analysis.Furthermore,laser confocal microscopy indicated that SQSTM1 and LC3 were recruited by AjCHDH in coelomocytes and HEK293T cells.In contrast,AjCHDH interference hindered SQSTM1 and LC3 recruitment to the mitochondria,a critical step in damaged mitochondrial degradation.Thus,AjCHDH interference led to a significant increase in both mitochondrial and intracellular ROS,followed by increased apoptosis and decreased coelomocyte survival.Collectively,these findings indicate that AjCHDH-mediated mitophagy plays a crucial role in coelomocyte survival in A.japon

Topmetal-M2 is a large-area pixel sensor chip fabricated using the GSMC 130 nm CMOS process in 2021.The pixel array of Topmetal-M2 consists of pixels of 400 rows×512 columns with a pixel pitch of 45μm×45μm.The array is divided into 16 subarrays,with pixels of 400 rows×32 columns per subarray.Each pixel incorporates two charge sensors:a diode sensor and a Topmetal sensor.The in-pixel circuit primarily consists of a charge-sensitive amplifier for energy measurements,a discriminator with a peak-holding circuit,and a time-to-amplitude converter for time-of-arrival measurements.The pixel of Topmetal-M2 has a charge input range of~0-3 k e-,a voltage output range of~0-180 mV,and a charge-voltage conversion gain of~59.56μV∕e-.The average equivalent noise charge of Topmetal-M2,which includes the readout electronic system noise,is~43.45 e-.In the scanning mode,the time resolution of Topmetal-M2 is 1 LSB=1.25μs,and the precision is^()7.41μs.At an operating voltage of 1.5 V,Topmetal-M2 has a power consumption of~49 mW∕cm~2.In this article,we provide a comprehensive overview of the chip architecture,pixel working principles,and functional behavior of Topmetal-M2.Furthermore,we present the results of preliminary tests conducted on Topmetal-M2,namely,alpha-particle and soft X-ray tests.
